At the wrong time.

This was the second time Mark is setting his eyes on a dead body, but the one he was viewing right now was cold-blooded. The last time he saw a dead body was at his father's burial, everyone was in black clothing that day as sadness filled the whole place. His mum and sister cried so much that day that a person might think the water in them would dry up, but Mark was all manly that day, he didn't cry even though he was in pain. His father's corpse was all swollen and white when his coffin was opened for everyone to take a look for the last time before he was taken to the cemetery for the final burial.

He was just 11 years old when those events took place, they had skipped his mind a long time ago. That was actually the first time he saw a dead body. Here was another lifeless body lying on the ground soaked in his own blood, he couldn't probably be alive, he had lost a lot of blood to survive. The police captain and his two other comrades carried the thug's dead body placing it in the boot of their car. People watched from afar as those events took place, none of them had enough courage to approach the cops to get more information on what happened.

Seeing enough of the unpleasant scene that occurred, Mark took the initiative to approach the police captain to get a full understanding of why they shot the thug.

"Why did you guys shoot him? I thought the plan was to apprehend him". Mark inquired of the police captain.

The police captain closed the boot and turned to Mark saying, "He tried playing smart with us, immediately after you climbed up to your apartment, we saw him coming out of that gaming house over there. We pointed our pistols to him telling him to surrender himself to us and follow us in peace, but he thought he could play smart with us. He swiftly brought out his pistol from his pocket to shoot at us, before he could do so, I shot him three times on his chest, that is called self-defense".

"So sad, he could have just followed you guys gently, but he proved stubborn, now he's lost his life. What are guys gonna do with his dead body"? Asked Mark.

"We are gonna seize it and put it in our custody until any of his relatives come for it, he died a shameful death". The police captain uttered opening the left side door of the car, his two other comrades were already sitting comfortably in the car.

"What of your colleague? the one that betrayed you guys".

"Yeah, am sure he is in hiding right now, but we are gonna track him down wherever he is hiding, and he is gonna confess to us why he committed such an atrocity".

"That's cool, you guys are good at your job, it was nice knowing you, captain". Mark said forwarding his hand for a handshake.

"It was nice knowing you also, and also a privilege knowing an artiste". The police captain said receiving Mark's handshake.

Mark laughed slightly, if only the police captain knew what he was going through as an artiste,

"You know, we haven't gotten to know each other's name yet, My name is Mark, what's yours"?

"My name is Greg, but I am mostly known as captain Greg".

"Captain Greg, keep on doing your job well, and keep on protecting the citizens of USA, byee". Mark said waving at captain Greg and his two colleagues in the car.

"Byeee". They said as captain Greg drove the car off.

Was it guilt? or was it the thug's spirit haunting. For the past few days now after the thug's death and the event surrounding it, the image of the thug's lifeless body had been displaying on Mark's head too often. He had even dreamt of it on few occasions, but Mark isn't the type of person that believes in spirit haunting or ghost. All these things that were displaying on his head were as a result of what he saw that day, he knew that, so he wasn't afraid at all.

"Am ain't the one that shot him to death, the cops did, he deserved what he got, hoodlums like him are capable of doing anything, they could kill someone and feel no remorse for their action. A killer should also get killed". Mark said to himself as he got up from his bed to engage himself in some house chores.

One of the chores Mark hated the most was doing the laundry, even though he has a washing machine that would make washing of clothes easier for him, he still despised doing the laundry a lot.

Throughout the week, he and Ben had been recording lots of songs back to back in the studio. And he had been wearing the best of clothes he had in his wardrobe to the studio for the past few days without thinking of how much time it would take him to wash them all. This is an example of how much Mark hated doing the laundry, if it took the washing machine about 30 minutes to wash up his whole pile of clothes, he would become so impatient, and 30 minutes would be like 2 hours to him.

He happens to be a fashionista, he loved wearing cool and outstanding clothes, but he hates washing them, that was the type of person he is. But he had no choice this morning, he had to wash them, he was short of clothes. Packing all his piles of clothes in his hand, he dashed into the bathroom for the washing to begin. He was able to conclude the washing within 28 minutes with the help of the washing machine.

After concluding the laundry, he went into his kitchen to handle the dishes. He preferred washing plates to washing clothes, he would rather handle the dishes in place of laundries. If only he wasn't a bachelor anymore, house chores would have been a thing of the past. The plates were as shiny as stars after Mark was done with them, his next intent was to go into his bathroom to shower. He and Ben had been recording songs in the studio nonstop for the past five days, their goal was to record up to ten songs that would be conserved in the studio's statistic computer so it could be released bit by bit.

They had recorded up to eight songs, the remaining two would be recorded today. After freshening up, he wore the remaining clothe he had left in his wardrobe, he had been wearing clothes and dumping them aside without washing them for the past two weeks. Suddenly, the heavens became cloudy and dark, the enormous wind that filled the whole place made it clear that heavy rain was about to fall.

Mark ate his breakfast hastily so he could get to the studio before the downpour of the rain. Unfortunately, the rain began to fall before he could even finish his breakfast, it was a heavy downpour. He had no car on which he could use to transport himself to his destination without being drenched by the rain. He had no other option than to wait thinking the rain would stop soon. 20 minutes passed, and the downpour was still as heavy as ever, 40 minutes passed, no changes at all, an hour passed, it was still raining heavily.

Mark was already getting impatient, he was pissed off by the unexpected downpour of the rain, the rain was surely going to ruin his schedule with Ben if it continued like this.

"This is the wrong time for such a heavy downpour like this, it's gonna ruin a lot of things". Mark said to himself a little pissed off by the rain.

He took his phone to check if Ben was online on any social media platform so he could chat him up, but he wasn't. The rain was still pouring heavily, it wasn't stopping anytime soon.

He was already feeling sleepy, the rain was producing such a cool breeze that could make a person fall asleep unknowingly. But he had to stay awake no matter what, falling asleep wasn't the best thing to do right now. So he puts on his television to watch something lively that would keep him awake and less sleepy. You wouldn't guess what was airing on one of the TV channels...It was one of Mark's music video.
