The start of a new journey

Highschool.. what a wonderfully tragic lie that surely changes the fate of many sheep, yes I call them sheep cause I too was about to become one them. This system engulfs you in a false transition making you think that life during this time is better than any you experienced before .

Fresh out of middle school...Shin, after having aced the final exams that were four in total in his middle school together with his parents start to look through the prominent high schools in the area and eventually land on two choices, Aghan high and Kellinger high school. Aghan high boasted the best education level compared to none in the country with an international curriculum as well and with the best state of the art facilities thus being extremely pricey and difficult to get admission on the other hand Kellinger high was a school with a smaller reputation and with cheaper tuition fees and also having a relatively good student grades. Shin, a relatively introverted and moderately capable in studies, he decides to join Kellinger high but not for reasons you may think are simple to comprehend. Shin, during all his childhood had been introverted and at most times thought to be different from the rest of the kids his age .His mind would notice things that most people would not pay attention to at that age. His family was not wealthy but merely a middle income family as his father Ren Jadh, of Asian descent was a mere salary worker with only army experience and a few diplomas to his name on the other hand his mother, a black African woman was a survivor of a war that had plagued her country and taken the lives of many thus not being able to complete school. In weird circumstance found each other and fell in love and bore Shin as their only child..

Shin's mind had grown seeing the difficulties his parents went through just so he could live the life that he did and as such he grew to that age knowing the value of money .

So when it was time to choose he didn't hesitate and decided on Kellinger high as his choice.

On the day of admission, Ren rode Shin to the gates of the school on an old lemon green and mechanically challenged Asian inspired scooter. The scooter was Shin's father's only means of transport as that is what he could afford .

They entered the school, Shin, with a fresh marine haircut straight from the cheapest saloon back home, was wearing navy blue jeans and an orange T-shirt with brown stripes and Ren in a black loose non fitting north wave jumper that was a tad too large for him and normal black casual men's trousers and strode straight to the admission room which was at the same time a main hall for all the school functions. As they entered, Shin looked at the few parents that were already waiting for the I guess the schools' representatives that would carryout the checking of each individual child's file and discuss with the child's enrollment. Admission had been going on since Monday January 21st and Ren and Shin had come on the third day. After a while, a short mediumly fat lady wearing glasses with these long strings that I guess are used to prevent them from falling and also with a short buzz cut. She introduced herself to us all. My name is Prossy Sen and am the dean of studies here for the first two Forms. Forms were the same as years in terms of classes and that she was the only one that would handling us seeing as we were few in number. She then said that Kellinger school follows a four stream system per class year with these streams being divided as fractions 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1,4.

After this She sat down on a one of these mid 2005 wooden chairs that showed its age.

Not long after some parents, Ren and Shin were the next. She explained to Ren the Fees structure for everything and the requirements needed which Shin handed over to her. These were his academic pass slips and academic track record. She then pulled out one piece of printed paper that she then wrote on what Shin had not yet paid for like reams of paper and uniforms ( Yes they wore uniforms at this school) which she then signed on and told Ren that this would act as Shin's temporary gate pass for the time being as he would receive the permanent one after payment of all dues.

She then asked Ren if Shin would be starting right away or not to which Ren asked Shin the same question and Shin in turn replied "let me start tomorrow" , to which Ren also agreed and asked if it was possible to receive the uniforms . She agreed and asked Shin to follow her to the store where he would be fitted with one. It took approximately thirty minutes and Shin returned to his father with the gate pass note in his hand showing that the uniform check boxes had been ticked off. Ren then picked up his bag pack and left for the parking yard where he had left the scooter with Shin following him holding a green plastic bag with all the uniforms. The school actually provided two sets of normal uniforms and one other set of sports uniform.

Ren then kick-started the scooter, with a couple of tries, it roared and he sat and told Shin to sit hang on. By now it was already 11 o'clock in the morning which meant that Ren was late for work. Ren worked as an accountant in a small paint company and his salary was not that high.
