5.My purpose and Suppressed feelings

Even though I had got my memories back, the site of the technologically advanced lab stunned me for a moment. It wasn't only filled with computers but many Hysteria Stones and other strange gems. As my mind raced, names came to me of the gems, and I realized that these were all different types of magics we had collected from the different planes we have explored.

I walked inside, and memories flooded in. As the door closed, memories flashed by of us laughing and working together at these stations. When I was finally able to get a grip again, Silvia had put her hand on my shoulder.

"Are you alright?" She asked.

I must have had a lost expression on my face. I cleared my thought and turned to Silvia. Some of her black hair had fallen over her face, and he smiled at her. Then he leaned forwards and brushed the hair behind her ear. He moved his hand down to her chin and gazed into the forever of her eyes.

"Each time we have to play this game of switching souls, it takes a moment for the flood of memories to find their places. Once they do, One thing always makes me have to think hard," I said to her as our faces drew near.

"What's that?" Silvia asked me as she began to smile.

"I'm always left speechless, wondering how lucky my soul is to be bond to yours," I finished as our lips connected.

The kiss sent shockwaves of emotions and memories though both of them. This feeling was something we could only enjoy. Even as we separated, the connection did not fade.

Silvia was the first to turn away as a crimson wave crept into her cheeks. I coughed and then let out a small chuckle. Looking around now, familiarities and memories of long hours cataloging and testing the magics found and recovered. The gems seen here were our person arsenal and army.

Each Hysteria gem contained the soul of a citizen of our land. They were also friends that could switch souls with the right person to assist us while cleansing the planes. Each person had certain skills, and some were more suited for certain purposes.

The positive for the others that were not needed and stuck in the stones, time did not pass. When a soul went into a crystal, time and all forms of consciousness freeze. This means when they leave the soul gem, no time has passed, and they only remember just entering the Hysteria Stone.

Silvia walked over to the table that contains many gems of variety. She slowly looked over them and then picked one from the gems. The gem was orange and was very transparent. I walked closer, and she extends the crystal to me.

"Do you still remember how to use these?" Silvia asked playfully with a smile.

Instead of replying, I was staring into the gem I was holding. Inside of the gem was a glowing sphere that looked similar to a star. As I stared, energy moved in my body towards my hand.

Suddenly the image of the star was in my mind. Somehow the image told me without words that this was light. Soon the gem began to glow as more energy flowed to my hand and now into the crystal. Silvia grabbed it from my hand, and the image left, and so did the feeling of energy.

This was magic, or at least what we called Soul-Syphon. All these gems were from different planes of existence that we have collected to fight the Dark Lord and his Dredges. The stones borrow from our soul's energies that will replenish over time.

Using the stone too much can cause a person to pass out in exhaustion. The worst case is the person uses a stone that requires more energy than the person's soul contains. When this happens, the magic stones consume the person and soul. This trade also was discovered to strengthen the magic stone greatly, but at the cost of a soul.

This discovery was the creation of this mess. The Dark Lord tried to force the people of our plane to use their souls to increase his stones' power. Once the people started to resist, a war broke out. Bzelorg discovered special rift stones and began flinging capture souls across the planes of the multiverse. Each Hysteria Stone soul resonance could be tracked, and The Dark Lord used this to guide his invasion force.

Finally, after ten years of war, we had been pushed back, and our population had gone from millions to tens. Twenty-two of us remained. Millions died, and thousand had been cast into the planes beyond. We used our last technologies to use stolen rift stones to create a pocket dimension.

We transported this lab and another vault into it, and we were able to make what we called the Reality Shifter. With this and our soul transfer technologies we stole from Bzelorg, we are able to create dimensional pockets in secluded places on the planes we are visiting. Our task is to retrieve as many lost souls as we can and slowly build back up.

As I was lost in thought, Silvia grabbed my hand. She began leading me towards another door in the far corner. I momentarily stop, and then it dons on me. Silvia turns back to me with a mischievous, but seductive smile. This was our room away from the unreal worlds we traveled, though. All thoughts of souls and trouble evacuated my mind as I was dragged inside.
