The two were walking the streets as they went to the airport to move on their journey.
"So, have you thought about what to do when you get there?" Alice asked, while the two were at the entrance to the airport.
"Actually, no. We'll find out when we go." Noah replied, walking forward. 'I don't even know where exactly I have to go...' He thought as he entered the airport.
Alice shrugged as she followed him by side as the two entered.
Going to the clerk, Noah took the lead when he called the receptionist.
"Excuse me, how much would a trip to the White Desert be?" Noah asked, while looking at the receptionist. She was taller than himself even if she was sitting, when she turned around.
'A little boy?...' She thought, while typing something on the computer. "You'll need a guardian for long trips." She said while still typing on the computer.
Noah raised an eyebrow at this, but said nothing while taking his hunter ID just to put it on the table.
'Even that's like Earth, huh...' He thought, while looking at the receptionist.
She looked at it wide-eyed as she thought about how the 8-year-old got this ID. But he didn't question it, as he took the ID and passed it like a credit card in a little machine next to the computer.
Typing in the computers keyboard, she turned her gaze to Noah.
"I'm sorry, Mister Noah, you won't need a guardian. The ticket price is 400,000 jenis." She said, as she bowed slightly in respect to the young hunter in front of her.
Noah didn't say anything, as he nodded and put the notes Alice had given him. The attendant once again began typing into her computer while processing the information.
"Sir, here's 800, 000 Jenis." She said, while looking at the pile of money.
"I know, I want to buy two tickets." Noah said, while pointing to Alice, that he also showed her hunter id at that time.
'They let two children became hunters?!' The attendant thought, while typing even faster on the computer.
Removing Noah's ID card from the machine and returning it, she also handed over two papers.
"The airship takes off in three hours. Unfortunately, we can't go directly into the desert, but we'll drop you off at its entrance." She said, as Noah picked up his tickets and nodded as he left and went to another area of the airport.
'It seems that even airports are the same...' He thought, as he walked there, with Alice behind.
He didn't remembered it at the anime. The only difference was the airships unstead of airplanes.
"Noah... Let's get something to eat..." Alice said, with her hand on her belly, signaling hunger. Noah sighed as he looked at her.
"Sure, but you pay. If you want to come with me, it's the least you can do." Noah said, as if he hadn't received 800,000 jenis from her a short time ago. 'This girl is really rich to be able to spend so much money... Not that it's hard to earn money, I mean... With that tower, making money isn't the hardest thing.'
Alice pouted to this, but did not deny it while accompanying Noah on his way to the feeding place.
Getting there, Noah went to one of the attendants.
"Excuse me, give me a cheese puffs, please." He asked, while the attendant nodded and took a paper bag.
"How many, little boy?" She asked, while Noah thought about.
"Twenty please." He asked, while the attendant nodded and put the cheese buns in the bag and delivered to Noah.
Noah then looked at Alice.
"So, what are you going to want?" He asked, causing Alice to stumble upon herself.
"Eh? Didn't you ask for this for both of us?" She asked, as she looked shocked, how can anyone stand to eat 20 cheese puffs like that?
It wasn't a very difficult do this for Noah, considering he ate two practically whole human bodies in one day.
Noah shrugged as Alice went forward and asked the attendant who was laughing at the interaction between the two.
"I'll take a meat roll, please." She asked, while putting her hand in her pocket and taking a little more money and leaving it on the counter.
The attendant nodded and took what she wanted while giving it to her.
The attendant went to get the money that was on top of the counter.
"Hmm... Miss? There's a lot of money here." She said, while looking at almost 50,000 jenis on the table. Everything they asked for didn't even reach 5,000 jenis, and she was giving 10x more value.
"You can keep with what left over." Alice said, as she went out with Noah, that was already chewing his first cheese puffs.
"Don't your parents get nervous about you spending that much?" The attendant asked, but Alice didn't answer as she left the place with Noah, who didn't care either. It wasn't his money.
The attendant had no choice but to keep the money.
But Noah was also curious about it, as he turned to Alice.
"Where does all this money come from?" He asked, making her smile. It was the first time Noah was the first to make conversation.
"So much? It wasn't much in fact..." She responded vaguely, causing Noah to shrug her shoulders again and follow his path while stayed quiet.
'Maybe she's just another rich person in this world, it's not so unusual for people like that to exist, especially here...' Noah thought, as he took his fifth cheese-puff and threw it in his mouth.
Alice did the same while ate what she had bought to eat.
Noah can't help but be surprised to earn an amount of Rc from the cheese bread, despite being so little that it was almost imperceptive. He didn't know he could even gain from meatless food.
Continuing to eat, they made their way.
After three hours of waiting, finally the time to take off came up, while the two entered to the airships place.
Noah had already thrown the bag in the trash, he finished all the cheese puffs in no time, and Alice was no different, had already finished her snack too, while following him closely.
The two entered and noticed that this airship was very similar to the airship of the hunters' association, but smaller. And just like before, there was no one but them, and a few of employees.
'Now I know why the tickets were so expensive. No one wants to go to a desert for no reason...' He thought, as he walked forward and headed towards the bar.
"This place is a little... Empty, don't you think?" Alice asked, next to Noah.
"We're going to the desert, what did you expect?" Noah replied, as Alice shook her head.
Upon arriving at the bar, the two were greeted by the pilot, who was already on his way to the cabin to start leaving with the airship.
"Hello gentlemen. The flight will last about 14 hours, be comfortable until then." The pilot spoke as he bent over and continued his way to the pilots cabin.
Noah and Alice waved as they took a chair at the bar and ordered a few drinks.
"Looks like it's going to be a long trip..." Noah said out loud while drinking an orange juice he had asked for.
The scene from when Alice introduced herself went through his head and they were in similar situations, but Alice this time had a glass with the same juice as Noah.
'Did she become my fan or something?' He thought, as he sighed and continued to sit.
And so the time passed, with Alice sometimes trying to find a subject and Noah responding straight. Sometimes even Noah started a conversation, while ask something about Alice. Staying 14 hours in a place with nothing to do is really boring, so he had to give in to the conversations in the name of passing the time.
When they reached their destination, the pilot again appeared at the bar.
"Gentlemen, I can't go any further than that." He said, while bowing in apology. Noah did not care about this as he walked past him and walked toward the airship exit, with Alice by his side.
"Woow..." Alice exclaimed, upon facing the desert in front of her. The desert sand was completely white, if it wasn't for Noah being on her side, she'd try to lick the sand thinking it was salt.
Noah took off his shoes while was putting them in his backpack, making Alice look strangely at him.
"Why take off your shoe?" She asked, not knowing why.
"It's common sense... We are in a place with sand, do you happen to like sand in your shoes?" He asked, as if it was obvious what he was doing. "Our journey will be long, the less discomfort I feel, the better for me."
"That makes sense..." Alice exclaimed, with a look of accomplishment, while doing the same and resuming her shoes.
Looking at the airship going up in the air, the two then looked at each other when Noah nodded and walked forward. Alice looked around one last time before follow Noah through the desert, as they both walked aimlessly.
'I hope this isn't a joke by Netero ...' Noah thought, before speeding up his step.
