Chapter 10

It had been an hour since they were sitting by the porch. An hour since he heard the sinister sound of laughter echoing through their empty cabin. An hour since Andrianna was missing.

He had looked throughout the house and outside but he couldn't find her. He knew now it was time to go into the woods. Calling out her name repeatedly he walked through the thick trees and bushes. She did not respond. After what seemed like forever his feet collided to something soft.

There she was, unconscious. Her body was limp and her neck had marks of being chocked. Something about the entire incident seemed sinister.

Marshal carried her to the house.

"What happened today?"

"She came and got me?"

"Who?"

"The woman in the black hood."

'What did she look like?"

"Dead. She had no eyes and scratches on her face. Her skin was blue…. She…." Andrianna began to cry again. "She is the scratches in the house"

Marshal did not understand anything at that moment but he held Andrianna as if he did. Something was wrong here. He knew it. He could feel it in his bones. It's like the entire house was alive, whispering dark secrets to him. It had changed. The house instead of a lively getaway now bore an ominous presence and he felt it as much as Andrianna. The house was rotting in itself.

They now stood in front of the house, Andrianna looked at it with such sadness and despair. Like she was mourning the loss of her own soul like she knew what came ahead. That she knew these would be the place where she would die someday. That this cabin would be the single defining place where it would all happen.

Galescia, Gideon Christopher, everything. That the evil that rots under the polished wooden walls would consume everything that touched its surface. That the woman in black that haunted this house and her own demons would be pale in comparison to the death that lay ahead.

Including her own.
