The next day...

(At the Fire kingdom)

"Your job today is to cook for his majesty and his siblings," Farah stated.

"Me or Eva?" Olivia asked.

"Eva will be I'm charge of cooking, while you'll be in charge of serving. Remember to follow the recipe I gave you Eva," Farah replied.

"Yes madam," Eleanor responded.

"It's now thirty minutes past eleven. Start cooking now Eva," Farah ordered.

When Eleanor arrived at the kitchen, she saw a man waiting for her. He greeted, "Hi, my name is Jay. I'm the head chef. I'll be helping you out with your dish for today."

Jay, the most talented chef of the Fire kingdom, was ordered by Farah to help Eva prepare the dish for his majesty and his siblings. He has been working for the Fire kingdom for ten years, but little did he know that Cameron has never stopped doubting him.

"I'm Eva. Nice to meet you. What dish will we be cooking today?" Eleanor asked.

"We'll be cooking roasted chicken."

After a few minutes of cooking, Eleanor and Jay finally finished the dish. Eleanor then called Olivia to serve the dish. When Olivia got the food, Eleanor asked if the king would like it.

"I'm sure he will." Olivia winked.

"The king is quite a picky eater, but he loves chicken," Jay added.

As Olivia was serving the dish, she smiled. "Your majesty, here is your food."

"Wow! This looks delicious! Who cooked this?" the princess asked.

"It's Eva and Jay, your highness. Hope you enjoy your food," Olivia responded.

"Eva? I've never knew we had a servant named Eva, but you also seem to be quite unfamiliar. May I know your name?" Carson asked.

"My name is Olive, your highness. Today is me and Eva's first day of work at the Fire kingdom," Olivia replied.

"Your name is really beautiful. Thank you for serving the food. Kindly say thank you to Eva and Jay too," the prince remarked.

"Yes, your highness," Olivia obeyed.

When Olivia left, the king and his siblings tasted the food, but as Cameron tasted it, his face started turning red. Then Kaycee asked, "Brother, what's happening to you?"

"Kaycee, Cam isn't allowed to eat spicy foods remember? Hurry and hand me the medicine!" the prince shouted.

When Cameron ate the medicine, he started feeling better, but he was furious. He punched the wall. "Call the cook right now!"

"Yes, your majesty," the servant obeyed.

When Eleanor and Jay arrived at the dining hall the king yelled, "How dare you put chili in this dish! You know that I can't eat spicy foods!"

"I apologize, your majesty. I didn't know," Eleanor said.

"Well now you do! As for Jay, you've been working here for seven whole years and you don't know that? Don't you know how vital my health is? If I die, no one will rule this kingdom! You're fired!" the king shouted.

"Cam, stop humiliating him. Everyone makes mistakes. Just let it go," Carson interrupted.

"No. I'm the king, so I decide who gets to stay in the castle! Get out of here now!" the king yelled In anger.

"Yes, your majesty," Jay obeyed.

"Please, your majesty. Don't fire him. It's my fault. Please forgive us," Eleanor apologized.

"You have no right to tell me what to do! Mind your own business or I'll fire you too!" the king stated.

"Eva, it's okay. I'm glad that I was able to help you at something. It's time for me to go now," Jay said.

As jay went to his room to pack his things, he brought out a tiny mirror and said, "The king has fired me. I'm on my way, sir."

A voice replied from the mirror, "Good. Don't be careless in leaving tracks."

A few hours later...

(In the royal hall)

While Eleanor was scrubbing the floor, a voice asked, "Are you Eva?"

When Eleanor turned around, she saw that it was the princess. So she bowed asked her what she needed.

"Can I talk to you?"

"Of course, your highness."

"Let's go to my room so it's more private."

When they went to Kaycee's room, the princess told her to sit on her bed.

"Your highness, how could you let a maid like me sit in your bed? I'm really dirty," Eleanor said.

"It doesn't matter. You're not a maid to me."

When Eleanor sat down, Kaycee told her that she wanted her to be her friend.

As soon as Eleanor heard that, her heart started beating fast. Why would the princess be friends with her? What if that wasn't only her intention? How could a princess be friends with a maid who just came in a few days ago?

"Your highness, I don't think that's a real job," Eleanor responded.

"Do not worry. I promise that your monthly salary will still be the same. I'll inform my brother about this."

"Your highness, isn't that disrespectful?"

"No it's not. You are my friend, so call me Kaycee."

"Okay Kaycee. What should I do as your friend?"

"You will be talking and having fun with me. Simple right? I just needed someone to talk to. I hope you understand," Kaycee explained.

Eleanor smiled. "You can tell me anything."

Kaycee then told her that she just misses her parents. Her mother died when she was only ten. Now that she's eighteen, she feels lonely. She grew up in a rigorous environment, and it was all because of her father. She didn't hate him, but they didn't have that kind of father and daughter relationship. Until one day, he went missing eight months ago. At that time, the princess felt glad that she wouldn't get to see him for a long time, but as days pass by, she started feeling glum. She kept all her worries and problems to herself even though she knew that her brothers and fiancé were always there for her.

"I'm sorry princess. Your parents might be gone, but that shouldn't stop you from being who you really are. That's why don't worry because I will be here for you. I might be just a maid, but I'm quite good at comforting people. You can call me anytime. I'm just at the maid's quarters."

"Can I hug you?" the princess asked.

"Of course. If that makes you feel better," Eleanor replied.
