[Note 3: Summoned spirits of the netherworld cannot be over 10 levels above you.]
[Note 4: This sword is a part of the Mandarava Rebirth Set. Collecting the artifacts of this set will activate additional attributes.]
[Description: The only surviving flower in the Netherworld blooming by the River of Three Crossing and on the opposite shore of Wang Chuan River.
It blooms into two types of flowers. The red one is called Manjusaka and was born through absorbing the power of death. It is also known as the hell flower. Seeing this flower means death is approaching.
The white one is called Mandarava and it is extremely rare and only seen once in 1,000 years. It is a holy flower that transforms death into life, and it is said that those who see this flower have a glimmer of hope of returning to the human world and living for another lifetime.
The Rebirth Sword came from a petal of the Mandarava.]
[Remark: Those who have seen the Mandarava are dead.]
Why had Chen Gou, who was a calm person, turned pale?
It was because this sword was too special.
Being part of a set, just like the Fear and Nightmare of Hell, was its greatest feature.
However, the Final Chapter of Hell was a set of skills, while the Mandarava Rebirth was a set of equipment.
In this regard, they were a match for each other…
Also, one of the strong aspects of the sword was its skill Rebirth.
Chen Gou looked forward to summoning a ghost general from the Netherworld to help him in battle.
The unstable aspect of this skill was that the spirits summoned each time would be different and would vary in power.
When he summoned a strong one, it would help him finish off the battle.
When he summoned a weak one below Level 5, it would be in vain.
"Ten years ago, a Diamond Demon Hunter Team happened to enter the Netherworld and pick a Mandarava by the Yellow Spring. The ghost army hunted them down, and only one of them managed to escape.
"That Mandarava was split into six, and each part was refined into six magical artifacts. Nobody would have expected that these six pieces of equipment would get a sense of each other and become the Mandarava Set.
"So far, nobody has ever collected the whole set," Angel explained with a faint smile, looking elegant and beautiful, just like the Mandarava she was speaking about.
"The two items have around the same value. If Miss Angel has no other questions, let's just trade them," Chen Gou said with a faint smile. Collecting the whole set was a distant goal. What he valued now was that this sword could immediately boost his combat power and make sure the trip to the abyss of Resident Evil was safer.
"Alright." Angel nodded slightly and swept the Skill Crystal in Chen Gou's hands into hers.
The trade was complete, and both parties were satisfied with what they had gotten.
"Third Brother, is this Chen Gou, the very powerful teammate you told me about?"
The woman on the far right, who had yet to introduce herself, spoke.
She had bright white teeth and fair skin. Just like Tony, she was a mixed Caucasian-Asian person and she undoubtedly looked beautiful.
However…
She only looked around 11 to 12 years old, so she could just be considered a young beauty.
Upon hearing her call Tony Third Brother, Chen Gou immediately looked at him.
Tony coughed. "Chen Gou, this is my younger sister. I've told you about her… Sherry Arslan."
F*ck…
This was the younger sister that Tony had wanted to introduce to him to compensate him for the gold-grade artifact?
"B*stard!"
Chen Gou just scolded Tony directly.
Despite knowing in his heart why he was scolding him, he didn't dare retort, which made Sherry, who knew him very well, feel rather astonished.
Her third brother, who used to be loathed and shunned by everyone, had actually acknowledged defeat?
"It's getting late. Let's go back."
Angel told Chen Gou with a smile, "If you find the other chapters of the Final Chapter of Hell, you can come to the Holy City and make a deal with me. I guarantee you'll be satisfied."
"Definitely." Chen Gou nodded.
"Goodbye." Lan Lin smiled at Chen Gou out of politeness.
"I'm leaving. Take care." Tony patted Chen Gou's shoulders.
The few of them left, and the surrounding onlookers scattered almost completely.
"Good luck!"
Just as Chen Gou sized up Lan Lin's back with a complicated gaze, Sherry suddenly turned her head and made an encouraging gesture that was both cute and warm.
"Okay," replied Chen Gou with a smile. It was the only heartfelt smile he'd given someone that day.
"I'm leaving too."
Chen Gou put away his remaining things and left a vial of bloodworm essence extract for Angeline as payment for renting the stall.
Back in the abyss of The Strain, he had predicted that such a recovery potion would be useful in the future and had hence extracted over 20 bottles of it at one go.
"I'm going to the abyss of zombies. It's very dangerous. If you guys are interested, find me by tomorrow night at the latest," Chen Gou said before leaving.
Danger had always co-existed with gains, and he had given them an opportunity. It was all up to the Wildfire Team to grasp it and decide whether they were willing to take the risk.
…
Two days later, Chen Gou boarded an airship heading to the western part of the Great Wall of the Abyss with the five members of the Wildfire Team.
Under Angeline's lead, the team had eventually decided to take the risk and join Chen Gou.
They were definitely afraid. After all, they had been hunting sporadic invading demons in the areas occupied by the Covenant. This was the first time they delved into an area ruled by demons.
However, they also knew that if they didn't take the first step, they would forever remain small fries and would never make a name for themselves.
Abyssal Knight Chen Gou was leading the team, so this was a rare opportunity.
The airship was 70 meters long and had a wingspan of over 60 meters… In fact, it was a human-tamed sky behemoth called Void Whale.
Although it was shaped like a huge whale flying in the air, it looked simple, solid, and harmless. However, it was at Awakened Level 40.
A hanging basket meant for humans and goods was tied to its back and abdomen.
This was clearly an imitation of the Abyssal World's planes.
In fact, it wasn't like the Covenant couldn't get one or two planes with its strength.
However, a magical order shrouded the Blue Wave World, and any electronic devices would be out of order or completely unusable.
Besides, they didn't have any pilots…
Although it seemed primitive to use a behemoth for transportation, it was much simpler and more practical. At least, the rate of making mistakes was infinitely closer to zero if it didn't encounter any enemies.
The abyss of Resident Evil was more than 400 kilometers away from Panshi City.
The Void Whale was fast, so it set off in the morning and arrived before nightfall.
The abyss of Resident Evil was one of the abysses that had invaded the Blue Wave World first.
Due to the sudden appearance of weak human Awakeners, they couldn't control the rift's passageway.
As time passed, the temporal rift was completely stabilized, making it difficult for the two merged worlds to stay separated.
Right now, that misty area covered more than 200,000 square kilometers, thus becoming an independent zombie nation.
Left without a choice, the Covenant could only build a Great Wall on the border of the misty area to isolate it from the unaffected areas and prevent the biochemical virus from spreading.
This was akin to giving up the land that was covered in the biochemical virus.
That area had been famously rich and populated before this disaster.
When the disaster had struck, only a few had been able to escape, and most people had been simply abandoned.
The majority of the abandoned people had either died horribly or turned into zombies. A few had rebelled in anger, vowing to destroy all zombies and take back their homes. They were known as the Resistance.
A very few others had chosen to surrender and join the Umbrella Corporation that extended its hands from the abyss, becoming its accomplices in aiding and abetting evil.
The Blood Umbrella Organization was one of the most notorious organizations.
The Covenant had put a bounty on Adolf, who was an evil murderer, 10 years ago, and the bounty had risen to five million Crystal Coins!
After so many years, no one could cut off his head, so Adolf was naturally a man who was both strong and cunning.
Chen Gou had dared to take on this mission only because there was no deadline or penalty for failure. Therefore, it was like making an empty promise.
What if one day he really got lucky and happened to gain some benefits by encountering a big figure and Adolf having an internecine outcome?
One couldn't get rich without extra income. Wasn't that how the fortuitous meeting of pigs' feet in novels had come about?
The Great Wall that blocked the zombie abyss was 200 to 300 kilometers long and over 50 meters high in total, fully taking advantage of the geographical location, and had been built near the mountains by the river.
Every 10 kilometers or so, there was a small town with barracks. The Demon Hunters who wanted to enter the misty area of zombies to hunt or complete missions had to resupply and report in such a town before they could be allowed to leave.
Chen Gou arrived in an inconspicuous town at the southern end of the Great Wall.
Originally, he had wanted to sneak into the misty area quietly without attracting attention.
However, he encountered danger even before he got there. Bandits had been among the passengers, and someone had hijacked the plane!
"Everyone, split into two sides. Men on the left and women on the right. If you don't know where to stand, stand in the middle!"
A tall and strong bearded man clad in chainmail stood at the front of the passenger cabin as his yellow pupils scanned everything with killing intent.
He had two mallets on his back that seemed to weigh dozens of kilograms and looked very intimidating.
A male passenger stood up and pointed at him, wanting to say something. However, a mallet smashed his head into pulp.
