Tainted red

HANA

BANG!

I tried not to flinch, fighting off my insides that started to churn. The last meal I had was threatening to come back, my mouth starting to taste sour.

I had to gulp it back down, lest my father would think that I was being a coward.

Red stains covered the ground, the open clearing of the field which our family owns was lined with several sticks protruding from the ground. It was the perfect spot to fire bullets as there were no nearby houses nor people to make a report.

In short, it was far from civilization. Quite far enough that if someone gets killed here, no one would know.

I shivered inwardly, my skin tingling as the hairs all over my body came to attention.

Truth be told, I wasn't really scared. But my imagination was screaming and running wild. It was telling me that the red stains scattered on the ground weren't fake and that it was made of blood, human blood.

That alone, I wanted to vomit once more.
