The Question That Would Change the Future

We stopped suddenly as we heard the voice.

"Where not here for trouble we simply seek help," Nick said calmly as we walked in.

"Put your hands up and drop your weapons." The lady at the front said. We carefully dropped our weapons and put our hands up. There were three people standing at the front. A lady that looked to be their leader, another lady but with a mini-gun and a man with a hunting rifle.

The lady with the mini-gun and the man with the hunting rifle went behind us still pointing their guns at us.

"Good, now that we know that you don't seek trouble, let me introduce us. I am Desdemona, leader of the Railroad and this is Glory and Deacon, they are Railroad agents. Before we help you we must ask you a question. Would you risk your life for a fellow man even if that man was a synth." Desdemona asked.

"Yes," Dad said.

"Yes," Nick said.

"Yes," I said.

"We need help into The Institute," Dad said.

"Yes, but we can't help you because we don't have a Courser Chip, we don't even know what it looks like-," Desdemona said as I cut her off.

"We have one right here," I said as I showed the chip to her.

"Well then, is it activated?" She asked.

"Yes."

"We were told you know where to plug it in?" Nick asked.

"Who gave you this information?" She asked.

"The overseer of Vault 76 told us that you knew where to plug it in."

"Leah? Thought she died when the bombs fell. Guess not," She said to herself.

"Tinker Tom can plug that chip in for you," Glory said.

"Tom, get your ass over here," Desdemona said. A man came out of a brick wall door. He was wearing overalls and a work hat. He was covered in dirt but I guess everyone is, in The Commonwealth .

He walked up to me and grabbed the chip right out of my hand. 'Hm rude,' I thought to myself.

"Follow me to Railroad HQ," Desdemona told us. We all looked at each other and followed her.
