Star wrapped herself around my back and shivered at the sight before us. Hundreds of feet of blizzard lay between us and the ground. This was our chance to be free from the junkyard and live life on the surface.
"What's wrong are you scarred of heights?" I asked. She glared at me.
Star's face softened and her blue lips pursed. "When I was newly hatched, I fell from my mother's web and I was lost for a long time. I would have frozen to death if a roach hadn't mistaken me for one of her brood." Star said.
Gwen sighed. "By my own juicy brain will you concentrate. If we don't jump soon, it'll be too late." Gwen shouted. Doppel licked her lips and a green glow surrounded her.
"I hope there are some juicy brains at the bottom, or I might sample yours." Gwen took a step back and looked up at me with innocent black eyes.
A sigh escaped my lips. It looked like I was hunting again. If there were human villages around this could get dangerous. We needed a plan or a cover. Maybe we could make an inn or rest stop depending on the society on the surface. The humans in the lab seemed advanced but the whole world might not be like that.
"A shame about the gremlin farm." I muttered. "What happened to the roach?" I asked.
Star put her thumb against her lip and pulled it down exposing blue flesh beneath. "Well after I ate her children and molted, I injected her with my venom and ate her too. She was so delicious." Star said with a giant grin on her face.
"Times up its now or never." Gwen yelled and together we jumped.
The second we hit open air the temperature plummeted. Shards of ice long as swords smashed into my chest as we dove into hundred mile per hour winds. Star wasn't shivering the cold didn't seem to bother her much. I wasn't doing as well.
From head to toe, I felt the cold like a punch in the balls. Every breath nearly froze me to the core. Diabla remained firmly in my right hand to give Star room on my back. Aura kept me afloat while I struggled to stay with the others. The last thing I wanted was for us to separate.
My eyes widened as I felt something soft rub against me. A hard-little nub gave me a hint.
Star had pushed her naked crotch against me. The Plebe rank had given her a more human appearance. Instead of being just a dryder she was more a human with retractable spider appendages. What was she now, a spider woman?
The thought gave me a second of distracted relief while plummeting through a blizzard with my friend's pussy rubbing against my back.
I knew she wasn't doing it on purpose, she was scared of heights. Just like I was afraid of large bodies of water. At least in this ice age, I probably wouldn't have to worry about lakes, rivers, and oceans.
Blue flames covered my blade as we fell alighting us for just a moment while we flew with the winds. The flames helped heat my hand.
I wished I'd gotten gloves. They would have at least helped for a little while. I needed to invest heavily in enchantment and rune craft. Gloves with heating runes would be a must on the surface.
Diabla's flames lit up the darkness and gave me a view of the blizzard. Everything around us was white and I couldn't see the tower to save my life. We were descending with the wind. The purple and green auras of Gwen and Doppel were easy to track.
Hail the size of battle axes continued to smash into me and deplete my stamina. I managed to shatter the bigger ones with Diabla, but some came through. They didn't do much damage and weren't worth using a field on. After using Dawn and Crimson Cowl, I was spent. Most of my energy was used to keep us afloat.
"If I'm right we should be nearing a forest. We might be able to find a tree hollow or something to wait out the storm." Gwen yelled at me through telekinesis. The blizzard didn't affect telepathy, so she was yelling at my brain.
I sensed an explosion of aura before a streak of green lightning lit up the sky for just a second. I knew it was Dol's.
Green light flashed and bathed the world in light. Out in the distance, I saw a walled castle with hundred story towers. Little villages dotted the landscape with the smoke a thousand of chimneys. Old stonework dotted the land along with vast cathedrals. Ancient symbols of religion dotted the landscape adorned over various houses. In an instant the whole of the world opened up to me and I saw everything with a bird's eye view.
Then the blizzard shifted, and the storm changed course. Storms weren't supposed to do that it wasn't natural. If anything should stay normal, then it should be a blizzard right. Natural disasters she be just that natural. I was beginning to believe that this storm wasn't natural. From the blizzard, I felt anger, contempt, and pride. Those aren't things I should feel from a blizzard. The second I felt those emotions the change in the winds caught up to us.
We were slung off course and plummeted into the forest. I'd expected a rough landing before. Limbs shattered against my body while we fell. The sides of ancient oaks exploded while I threw up a weak aura field to protect Star and I.
I pulled with my aura while we fell. If I still had my wings, they might have been torn off by the sudden change. Instead, my body did what it could to protect Star from the worst of the fall. Still, we smashed into a tree's base and it began to fall. The other limbs caught it, but the fall was inevitable.
For a second, I thought I heard the forest whispering. When I looked up the whispers quietened. It must have been my imagination.
I stabbed Diabla into the ground and rose to my feet. Star jittered on my back like a pleasure buzzer.
The rubbing was bad, but the cold was worse. It sunk into my bones and didn't let go. My stamina took the blow the hardest, I needed a place to rest. Gwen floated up to us while Doppel raised a hand. A bubble barrier appeared around us keeping the blizzard at bay for now.
"I smell some juicy brains up ahead and they might have shelter. I vote we go for them." Doppel said. Gwen looked up at me and then to Doppel.
"We did promise to fuck him silly. I think we should fill up on brains too. But we don't want to tear across the surface like darklings in a brothel, no offence. Maybe we should get some disguises or maybe you can say hello for us Jacob. You look human just a little taller than normal. We can investigate the area, find out if they'll be missed, and pick them off one by one." They looked between Star and me.
"I'm always hungry but I ranked for the cold unlike you three dummies. If anyone should scout out ahead it should be me or maybe Jacob and I. You may not have noticed but I look human." Star spun around and showed off her thick lilly white ass and even leaned back to expose her hairless blue clitoral hood. She finished her show back grabbing her own tits and pushing them up. "I just need clothes." I let out a sigh and took out an extra set from my storage ring.
"We can pass off your lips as blue from the cold, probably. The male clothes are because your own were soaked when we had to cross a river. Please evade the question if they ask about the river. I have no idea where the nearest river is." The thought of being near a river made me want to bury myself in the snow. I shivered a little out of reflex. "Will the two of you be alright?"
Doppel crossed her arms and glowed. "I hope some juicy brain adventurer doesn't stumble upon us. It would be terrible if a mage stumbled upon us." Doppel said.
Gwen shook her head. "We'll be ok. This forest has more than enough qi to keep us going. Just not enough to keep us fed." Gwen said.
I raised my hand and felt my fingernail turned into claws. This was going to hurt. I dug through my white shirt, through the dense synthetic material, and deep into my flesh. With a painful grunt, I tore a line that could be mistaken for a wound from a bear attack.
They stared at me while my teeth became needle sharp and I pulled my leather clad leg to my mouth. After a painful bite blood filled my mouth. The wounds were lighter than they looked. In a couple of seconds, the blood clotted. It took a force of will, to keep the wound from closing instantly.
We moved through the woods like ghosts. Star's spidery legs allowed her to glide across the snow without leaving tracks. The blizzard continued to rage but the forest kept most of it at bay. After a few minutes of flying through the woods, we found a large cabin. Smoke flowed from the chimney and the smell of roasting pork, apples, and cinnamon were strong.
I turned to Star who retracted her legs and quickly put my clothes on. This was going to be difficult. Neither of us knew the people of the surface. We had to pass ourselves off as human and dig for information. This would be our biggest challenge yet.
