Learning The Blue

Melia tossed over a crystal of blue no larger than a grain of sand. It was so small I could have missed it for a bit debris. Her eyes shined in a way that showed her joy of teaching. She was the type to take pleasure in the struggles of others. Still when it touched my skin, I felt a burgeoning aura of blue. It was almost like qi.

Her needle like teeth clicked together in a smile. "You're not a youngling. So, I'm not going to treat you like one. A youngling already understands more about our culture than you do." She turned her gaze to the left of her skull pyramid then shook her head. "Such a missed opportunity. It could take weeks for you to learn enough about our city to pass as a youngling. Instead, I'm going to teach you a practical lesson." She brought her hands down to cup my own.
