Churning

'6:00-AM'

With the sun barely emerged from the edge of the horizon, the clock began to sing a tune that awoke Histoire from her sleep that was too shallow for her to experience any dreams. The light on the ceiling did little to no damage to her eyes when she woke up to stare at them again, and the throbbing in her head had ceased. She stretched her arm out to the side to the bedside table to silence the alarm.

Not a second afterwards she turned her head to the other side of the bed where she expected to see the head of blue hair. He was gone. She breathed in deeply and sat up on the bed, pushing the sheets away. The small blanket she draped over his shoulders was neatly folded and placed by the foot of her bed.
