I glanced around trying to find some familiar faces, I asked around a bit. Luckily getting a lead after the tenth person, heading to the bridge, I caught a glimpse of them. The supposed attempt of a disguise did little to hide their appearances. It seemed they were trying to cross the bridge, but were threatened by the school of large bull horned fish that jumped overhead, looking ready to claim their next meal.
They fended off one of the fish before dashing forward, "Tch, don't start running without me." I raced towards them, steering clear of the large fish senselessly ramming their heads against the metal bars. They were shouting incoherently in the distance as another fish was warded off, suddenly stopping, it seemed they had reached the end of the bridge. Panting, I finally managed to catch up to them.
Though they seemed too distracted by the unprecedented event happening only a few meters away. Catching my breath, I watched with them as one of the bull horned fish got captured in a net. Distant but coherent voices could be heard from the other side of the broken bridge, the others immediately started a conversation about it as the fish was being dragged away.
Usopp called out to whomever was behind the captured fish, which only seemed to scare them away. After that was seemingly over, they finally decided to acknowledge my presence. The only ones surprised by my "sudden" appearance were Usopp and Ceasar.
"Aizawa-sensei, I thought you were with Dabi and the others?"
Deku was the first to speak, picking at the quicks of his nails.
"Yes, that was before Zoro took off with the chef and samurai. Then Dabi and the others entered the colosseum to win some Mera Mera fruit, I wasn't going to sit around in a colosseum watching meatheads fight. Nor was I going to run around aimlessly with the other three, so I came looking for you guys instead."
"The Mera Mera?!" Usopp had wide eyes.
"Yeah….? Luffy was really intent on getting it, he said something about it being "Ace's" Devil Fruit?"
"Ace's Mera Mera Fruit is here?!" He gaped.
"Yeah, I guess Doflamingo found it. That's why so many people are gathered at the colosseum."
"I hope Luffy wins…."
They nodded in agreement as Law had Ceasar carry him, Robin, Usopp, and me across to the island. While Bakugou and Deku had some practice, using their quirks to get across. Deku had a bit of trouble, as there wasn't much he could run and jump onto. In the end we all got across, albeit with a lot of complaints from Ceasar, but we made it nonetheless.
Reaching the island, we were greeted by the large and wild overgrowth of the forest. Ceasar called out for "Joker" to come get him, fruitless as it was. Usopp gaped over the humongous plants while I took note of the wildlife hiding within the thick foliage. It was certainly a sight to behold, then my eyes landed on a Navy ship. The others soon took notice of it as well, the ship wasn't completely wrecked and looked to be a recent addition. Usopp rambled on as Robin used a pair of binoculars to inspect the distant landscape.
"The wounds on the plants are still new…."
"Eh!?"
"It seems like that boat just recently got here….The ship itself isn't as damaged as I thought it would be."
"It managed to sail in the midst of all that fish!?"
"It's just a matter of time when the rest of the Navy reaches." Robin finished as Ceasar shouted about the exchange being leaked, to which Usopp kicked and hushed him.
The two bickered as Midoriya looked up at me, twiddling his thumbs. Sighing I patted his head and joined the quieter duo, I noticed the smile under Law's fake mustache.
'That's not unnerving at all….The most I've seen of this guy hasn't exactly sprouted smiles and sunshine.'
"That's a horrible face you're making?" Robin voiced for me.
"It was unexpected. How'd I make the Navy move…."
'Make the Navy move…? Wait- on Punk Hazard- he didn't-...huh….I guess I underestimated him a bit. I suppose his plan with the alliance is to take down a Yonko. There's no doubt he's been scheming this for a while, he's been preparing every step for who knows how long. Now I just feel bad, I may not have been with Luffy and his crew for long. But I know from experience that that kid isn't one for following plans.'
Ceasar moved on from arguing with Usopp as he shouted at Law that the exchange is invalid and he should cancel it. To which Law mentioned the fact that the Navy is his enemy as well, considering his alliance with Luffy. There's no way he'd be safe knowing he clearly betrayed them.
"Just fifteen more minutes. I need your "intels" and "marksman" skills as support..!! We don't know who's here yet. If there's anything strange about the forest, keep in contact." Law spoke.
"Hey! I hope you're not planning on screwing us!!!" Ceasar skepticized.
"Yes, I understand." Robin nodded.
"Wait! The navy being here was unaccounted for!!" Usopp complained.
Sighing, I walked over to Deku and Bakugo.
"You two go with Robin and Usopp into the forest, if anything happens, and fighting becomes dangerous. You two retreat, got it?"
I looked mostly at Deku while speaking.'
"Even if one of you has to drag the other."
Bakugo looked ready to complain, but I hurriedly sent them off into the forest before I could gain another headache.
Thirteen minutes of silence passed when Law's transponder snail went off, as he picked it up, a panicked voice came through.
"Hey!! Law!! This is Sanji!!"
"Black Leg….Did you find the factory?"
"This is no time to be talking about that!! Listen up!! You have to get out of there right now!!"
"What are you saying….We're handing over Ceasar now."
"Doflamingo didn't quit the Shichibukai at all!! Even if you hand Ceasar over, there won't be any kind of deal!! We've been taken in completely!!"
Law looked at me with creased brows.
"Looks like Dabi and I were right….Really wish we weren't...."
I unwrapped my scarf to be prepared.
"Get off that island right now!!" Sanji continued.
There was distant laughter as I caught a glimpse of something in the water's distance.
"Hurry!!" Sanji said frantically.
"Idiot….It's too late…."
Law replied as he looked in the same direction as me.
"Why can't something go remotely right once in a while? Even just the little things would be nice."
I huffed as Ceasar complained, wondering what we should do now.
"As long as I'm here, I could probably erase any Devil Fruit powers. I don't have a full grasp on what I can and can't erase, considering the differences in universes. But it should relatively be the same, I'll have to ask Robin more later…."
"Erase a Devil Fruit power?"
Ceasar had knitted brows.
"Is that what you did back on Punk Hazard?"
Law raised an eyebrow, seemingly interested in the topic.
"Yes, it seems, other than the weakness to water, and the consumption. Quirks and Devil Fruit powers work similarly. Which allows me to use my Quirk against Devil Fruit powers that fall under similar categories as their quirk counter-parts."
Law hummed when Robin suddenly appeared from the ground.
"Oah!! What?! Half a woman came out of the ground!!" Ceasar shouted needlessly.
"Nico-ya!"
"I heard the call just now! It was from Sanji wasn't it?!" She said.
"Hey!! Where are your real body, Nose-ya, and the kids?! If this is true, the negotiations have failed."
"What do you mean failed?! What about my transfer?!" Ceasar complained.
"Nico-ya! Call Nose-ya!! We have to get off this island right now!!"
"I thought you said it was too late…." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"That's….We're underground right now!!" Robin responded.
"Underground?!" Law shouted.
"We've wound up in some trouble...But we're fine. We can't help, but go ahead and get off the island. We'll head to the port afterwards."
"Okay, got-"
Law was cut off as the person I assumed to be Doflamingo appeared.
"Good luck!"
"You too!!"
The two exchanged before Robin disappeared.
"JOOOOOOOOOOKEEERRRR!!"
Ceasar called in what could be described as relief.
Doflamingo landed a few feet in front of us as the Navy also exited from the forest.
"Geh!! N-Navy!! No...Is that okay?!"
Ceasar provided the ear scraping commentary in place of Usopp.
"Oh this is great!! To think a Navy Admiral would show up…."
'Hold on, that man is familiar….Isn't he from that restaurant?! The blind man who Luffy stopped from getting scammed!! He's a Navy Admiral?!'
"Hey Law!! I quit the warlords so I'm really scared here!!"
Doflamingo clearly spouted sarcastically, he seemed to think this was a game he was playing and winning.
"You liar!!"
Law shouted at him as I glanced between all three of them.
'The Admiral seems to know the newspaper was faked. It's not entirely surprising, but this isn't a good situation. For me or Law, I'm standing next to a criminal right now, so I'll automatically be thought of as an accomplice. Either as one of Law's crew or Luffy's, seriously….I never in my entire life thought I'd be on the side of criminals, I'm just thankful I'm on the least villainous side. All things considered, I pity whoever is with Shigaraki and Toga.'
