The surprise of a lifetime (Finale)

This news is something I have never expected to hear when we came here. Two, we are having two kids in almost a year. This does changes things, I cant stop Ciri from fighting alongside me, but I can make sure she never gets hurt. I don't know how Geralt or Yen will react when they find out, all I can do now is prepare for the future. I look to the lady who has helped us tonight. "If there is anything we can do to help you. Let me know." I inform her that I am ready to do anything she asks. She has been a great help, I look to Ciri and see that she is just smiling at me. The lady walks over to her desk and hands me an envelope.

Once it's in my hands it has no distinguishable markings. "I need you to take this to a man named Francis Bedlam. Once he gets this letter you will have paid your debt to me." That sounds simple enough. I place it in one of my pockets and smile back at the lady. She finally smiles back at me, I don't know if I should bring up Mar. She probably already knows, I look at the picture one more time and I feel a need to tell her.

I walk over to the picture and see that it is Mar when is was younger. I wonder how old this lady really is, this looks like it was taken a lifetime ago. She walks up beside me and stares at the picture too, she must know I want to ask her something. "Is this man your son?" I point to Mar in the painting as I say that. She says silent and rubs the picture of him, she must miss him really bad.

She takes a shaky breath holding back her tears. "Was..." So she must know that Mar has passed, mages know everything about each other. Especially when it's your family involved, I wonder if she knows what really happened to him. I think she would want to know that her son died protecting a family with all his power. I take a glance at the pocket where I keep Lara Dorren's diary, he knew what it was before anyone else did and he let me keep it. Without him doing that I would have died after I left Kaer Morhen with Gaunter.

I look at her and she can tell that I know something about Mar. She grabs my hand and holds it with her two small one. "I knew who Mar was....He was an amazing person and terrific mage." I say that with a heavy heart, thinking back to that day Mar didn't deserve to go out like that. The lady looks at me to finish. "He gave his life to save a child....His sacrifice led to this boy having a great family and friends with a future ahead of him..." I just watch as the tears fall from her eye's when I say that. "He helped save me that day....Without his wisdom, I wouldn't have what I have...." She takes the information hard as she wraps her arms around me and weeps in my chest.

I just let her cry, I look over to Ciri and she has a sad face. She doesn't know everything that happened that day. I never told her because it hurt to much to talk about at the time. I hear the lady say something that is surprising. "I know that he saved your life Cera....He talked about you and your abilities the day before he died....I need to tell you something that is very important okay...." I cannot believe the strength this old lady has. Helping us even though she knows who I am, she didn't even let it be noticed that she knew. She looks to a crystal ball and she holds her hand out, the ball comes flying at the command. "This is a seer crystal....It showed me something about your future Cera....All those years ago it showed me only a glimpse of what you would do....I need to warn you that you aren't who you think you are." That is ominous, I have always known who I am, the son of farmers in a forest. That's all I ever needed.

I pull away from her and look at the ball in her hands. Ciri walks over having heard the very strange thing she just said about me. "My son Mar was an amazing mage, but he never listened to me. With all his power he refused the one thing that could save him." I think I know what she is talking about, Yen spoke of a potion that can grant an immortal life. She never told me anything else because I was so young. "I'm sorry I never told you my name, I am Feralda Kemora. I needed to see if you would tell me of your own volition. I knew that you were coming here, the seer crystal showed me...." I never heard of her before, Yen never talked about her friends or enemies around me. Feralda hasn't mentioned Yen so she must not know her either.

After listening to her I have faith in whatever she is about to tell me. I can say in all honesty that I didn't know I was more than a farm boy. "The future you have was to bright to make out anything definitive, the only thing that came through was that you would have to face your birthright and take the mantle your ancestors left." I have no idea what she means by that. I only know so much about Lara and her daughter Riannon. She mostly used the diary as a way to improve her own power. Not write down every moment of her life, she did write something though.

After hearing that Ciri grabs my arm and clings to it. Now is not the time for big revelations, I have more important things to worry about. This information matches up with what that lady in my dream said to me. "Thanks for all your help Feralda, I'll be sure to bring your message to Mr. Bedlam." She looks at the painting one last time and walks over to her rocking chair. She sits down and looks directly at me with a smile that is showing happiness at what has transpired this day.

She reaches over to the table next to her and picks up a pipe and starts to smoke from it. "Thank you for being honest and telling me about my son. I'll be sure to keep an eye on your name for anything you do in your future." After she said that she motioned for us to leave and we said our goodbyes. We make it outside and the sun is beginning to set. I was not prepared for this day, I have a feeling that the rest of our time in Novigrad will only get more exciting from here.

Ciri hasn't let go of me since the vague warning I received was given. I kneel down on my knees and turn my back to her. "Hop on, I promised I'd carry you." She giggles and runs her hand through my hair as she leans on my back and I pick her up resuming our way of travel from earlier. I start to walk when I feel Ciri's freezing hands in my shirt touching my bare chest. "OOhh!! Your hands are ice cold Ciri!!" She just laughs at my reaction. The temperature as dropped with the sun going down.

I hear her sigh and ask me a question I was thinking of asking her. "Can you believe that we are having twins....Feels like a dream right now...." I agree with that statement and I cant really say I expected her to be pregnant, Geralt and Yen never really drilled protected sex is a must since they were both infertile. All they ever said to me was 'All it takes is once.' I didn't understand at the time, but I get it now.

I walk as I ponder what this means for us in the coming months. I feel a need to make a joke where none is intended right now. "Pretty soon I'm going to be holding your hair while you puke. I also wont be able to give you piggy back rides when you start to really show." You cant tell she is pregnant right now and for awhile longer. We found out very early thanks to magic, when she does start to get big I'll have to do all the work. She will be twice a big since there are two in there.

She actually chuckles at my joke too. That's a joke I think I failed at, says a lot about her since she laughed anyway. "Then you will have to compensate with extra messages and letting me sleep in." She has a sense of humor too it seems. I will easily fill those requests and be happy doing it. She is so special to me, and now we have a family on the way. I walk us in the cold now that the sun has set, I can now see my breath so that means Ciri must be freezing. "Cer-Cera can yo-you warm me u-up?" Poor girl is shivering. I can raise my body temperature with magic, but it makes me tired and I tend to sleep in which I like to avoid. I haven't done it yet because I haven't had too, now seems like a time I should. Ciri asked me anyway.

I close my eye's and focus on my heart. I channel my magic through it and my blood and body begins to warm itself. "Is that better?" It should be hot enough for her to not shiver anymore, she just moans in happiness and snuggles as close as she can. She is so soft, I wonder what she thinks about my body.

She leans her head on my shoulder and relaxes. She looks at me with a smile and blushing face. "Yeah that's better....Thanks Cera...." She has a tone and mood when she feels embarrassed and this is sounding like it. There is no reason to be embarrassed though, I won't ask about it since she is in this state. I don't want to make it worse. I carry us back to the Rosemary and Thyme after a long walk in the cold of night. I am very tired from using my magic to heat up Ciri. It's the only thing that makes me tired from using magic anymore, usually I never get tired from using it. I carry us up to our bed and pull the covers off.

I let Ciri slide off my warm body and she immediately begins to shiver. I take off my clothes for bed and Ciri follows suit. "Hurry Cera!! I'm freezing over here!!" She waves her hand for me to come to her and I crawl under the blankets as she wraps around me at the same time. I continue to use my body heat to warm her up and the blankets until its nice and toasty. I begin to fall asleep as I turn off my magic, I notice Ciri is also on her way to dream land. She did take a nap earlier, but she is probably tired from the stress we went through today. We fall asleep as Ciri squishes and squeezes my body trying to get ever closer.
