Endless Nightmare

"Kousei-san, have you seen Akaashi? He's not in his room so I thought he's here in the office." The man asked as soon as he arrives at the ambulatory surgeon department within the Tokyo Medical Hospital.

"Hmmm? I haven't seen him since morning." Yuuki Kousei looked over on the other side of his desk and gently kick the person's leg in front of him.

"Kouki!!!" Kousei shouted. "Hey!!!" He kicked his leg again to gain his attention.

"What?!" Yoshimoto Kouki annoyingly asked while removing his headphone off. "I'm busy right now." He added.

"Bokuto's here to ask if you know Akaashi's whereabouts." Kousei said while pointing at Bokuto who was still outside, embarrassed to walk in because it was the first time he's coming over to Akaashi's office.

"Huh? Didn't he tell you?" Kouki frowned.

"Tell me what? What I know is it's his day off today but he insisted on working." Bokuto asked who's starting to get worried because Akaashi has been up for almost three days with only a few hours of sleep.

"He told the head of our department that patient 17 of room 37 needs to undergo CT Scan, MRI and neurologic exam immediately that's why he's on duty today." Kouki explained while looking for the profile of patient 17 on his pile of folders on his desk.

"Eh... patient 17 is Shibayama Yuuki, right?" Kousei asked because patient 17 is well-known in the hospital.

"Oh here it is! Wait, let me see..." Kouki opened the folder of patient 17's records and saw, "Yes. It is Shibayama Yuuki. And.... wait what the hell?!" Kouki stood up and dashed towards Kousei, showing him Shibayama Yuuki's records.

"He's that guy who's surrounded with bodyguards inside and outside of his room, who's rumored to be the illegitimate son of the wife of the ex leader of the Sakusa clan. And based on his records, he has undergone all of those exam just last week so why the hell would Akaashi go there and ask for permission to do another one for this week?"

"Bokut---?" Kousei glanced back at Bokuto but he was already gone. "Where the hell did he go? He's not allowed to go near there!"

"I need to find him. I need to find him." Bokuto murmured over and over. "He didn't told me anything again." He thought. Ever since someone from the Division of Intelligence agency was hospitalized from where they are working, Akaashi has been acting strange.

It wasn't Akaashi's fault. He did his best to save Kageyama's life but he already lost a lot of blood before they admitted him at the hospital. It really was devastating for him because he's the first person that Akaashi couldn't save.

Bokuto was stopped from his thoughts as he felt his phone vibrating inside his pocket.

"Unknown number...?" He clicked the answer button and placed his phone on his right ear. "Hello. This is Bokuto Koutarou speaking. May I know who's calling?" He answered.

"You don't have to know who I am." The other line spoke while fidgeting on his controller while playing Demon's Souls. "You're acquainted with a guy named Akaashi Keiji, right?"

As soon as he heard Akaashi's name, anger and terror showed clearly on his face. "Where's Akaashi?!" His voiced echoed on the hospital's hallway, enough to gain attention to patients and nurses around him.

"I want you to find a place where no one can see or hear you." The man on the other line demanded.

Bokuto roamed his eyes around and checked each room on the fifth floor. All of the rooms were occupied not until he found the room located at the farthest left where doctors conduct meetings about coding and medical claim management, patients relations and identity theft, changes in medicare guidelines and personnel improvements.

"Hello? I'm in a secluded room now. Are you still there?"

"I know." The man said with confidence. "I can clearly see you."

Bokuto roamed his eyes around, checking his surroundings and saw the CCTV camera inside the room focused at him.

"What do you want?"

"You see, we made a deal with your friend and asked him to bring Shibayama Yuuki to us but he didn't mentioned that he has been working with the Division of Intelligence agency. It turns out that he was ordered to abduct Shibayama Yuuki too and bring him to the person in charge of the Strategic Communications Department."

"There's no way Akaashi will make a deal with bad guys like you!"

"Not if you're included with our deal." The man chuckled as he cleared a hard level. "He really didn't want to make a deal with us so we dig up some information about him and we found out he's been living with you for six years so we thought you two are in that kind of relationship that's why we used you to threaten him."

A sudden beep on Bokuto's phone was heard. It was a message from the unknown number who's calling him right now.

He quickly opened the message and saw a photo of Akaashi, lying on the floor who's unconscious on a storage room, his arms and legs tied up. Below the photo that was sent to him, a text was there, written, "A little motivation for you."

"You want me to bring Shibayama Yuuki back to you guys, right? If I do that, will you let Akaashi go?"

"I didn't expect that you'll agree with us right away." The man on the other line paused for a moment to place back his controller on his table and went back to the CCTV screens, showing live footages at the hospital.

"You have two hours to bring Shibayama Yuuki in here. I'll give you the location on where we're going to meet right after you leave the hospital with him." The man hang up before Bokuto could fairly yell at him to wait.

Bokuto ran as fast as he can back to Akaashi's room and opened his locker, grabbing a coat with Akaashi's name written on it. He then went on his way to the nurses quarter and called out one of them.

"Eren. Can I have the chart for patient 17 named Shibayama Yuuki?" (Chart is a documented medical record of services provided during a patient's care, including procedures performed, medications administered, diagnostics test results and interaction between the patient and healthcare professionals)

The nurse looked up with a bread on his mouth who was obviously on his break. "Why? Patient 17 is under the care of Dr. Kaji Yuuki  so I don't know if I have the rights to give the chart to you." He said, the bread still on his mouth.

"Eren, don't you remember? I am a neurologist same as Kaji." He placed his ID on Eren's desk, pointing at the 'Neurology field' term printed on it.

"Also, Kaji sent me a message earlier and asked me a favor to handle Shibayama Yuuki for today cause he's on a date with his wife." Bokuto lied but was thankful that Kaji was really on a day off.

"Seems about right knowing the two of them just got married." Eren handed the chart to Bokuto and smiled at him, "It's a little dangerous back there so be careful when entering his room."

Bokuto dashed his way to the elevator and luckily no one stepped inside with him. He quickly wore Akaashi's lab coat and wrote Akaashi's name, time and date on the chart that was given by Eren.

When he stepped out, two of Shibayama Yuuki's bodyguard were outside of the elevator. Cold shivers ran down his spine and his whole body pulsed rapidly. Men in black suits were scattered along the hallway of the fifth floor, staring intently as Bokuto passes by.

He slowly walked his way towards Shibayama Yuuki's room, clearing his throat once  again and pulled the collar of his coat that seems to pinch his neck.

"Who are you?" One of the men asked as soon as Bokuto stood in front of Shibayama's room.

"I'm the substitute doctor that Dr. Kaji asked for since he's on a day off. According to his chart and scheduled tests, Shibayama Yuuki needs to undergo CT scan, MRI and a neurological exam today." Bokuto said in a controlled voice to hide his nervousness.

"Do you have your ID?" The senior bodyguard asked.

A cold shiver went down his spine upon hearing what the bodyguard asked for. He didn't expect that they'll ask for his ID. He only thought that if he's wearing Akaashi's lab coat, it will be easier for him to barge in.

"You're Dr. Akaashi, right? It is embroidered on your lab coat. We need your ID just to ensure the safety of our boss."

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead and he mopped it away using his forearm. "I for----"

He was cutoff when someone behind him suddenly tapped his shoulder.

"Bok... ouch." Kouki almost called out. Kousei pinched him hard on the cheeks as soon as he saw Bokuto wearing Akaashi's lab coat.

"Akaashi-san, good afternoon. Were you assigned by Dr. Kaji for today's examinations?" Kousei asked, hoping Bokuto and Kouki will know what situation they are in.

"Ah! Ha..haha.." Kouki nervously laughed. "Good thing... he has settled already, right Akaashi?" Kouki blinked twice while looking at Bokuto, signaling him to agree with him.

"Y-yeah... It can't be helped that he's... on a date with his wife today." Bokuto spoke in a voice that trembled a little.

"Will it take him long?" Naoi, the senior bodyguard, asked who seems to believe the act that they did.

Bokuto cleared his throat once again, trying to speak in a controlled voice. "The MRI will take about 15-90 minutes and the CT scan examination will be roughly 15-30 minutes. As for the neurological exam, it may take up 30-45 minutes wherein we'll check his vision, hearing, balance, coordination, also his strength and reflexes."

"Wasn't it done already last week?" The other bodyguard whispered to Naoi.

"It's true that it was done last week but according to his chart..." Bokuto acted like he was scanning Shibayama Yuuki's chart and added, "the results from last week's examination were not good so we're conducting it again."

"Are we going to let him do it? Our boss will kill us if something bad happen to him." The other bodyguard whispered again.

Naoi glanced back at Bokuto and said, "Please wait here for a minute."

As soon as Shibayama's bodyguards went inside Shibayama's room, Kousei grabbed both Bokuto's shoulder and shook his body hard, whispering, "What the hell are you doing?! President Levi will definitely kick you out of this hospital if he will know about this!"

"Kousei, stop. Bokuto surely has reasons on why he's doing this." Kouki butted in as he removes Kousei's grip on Bokuto's shoulders.

"The truth is..." His throat was tight, his eyes blurring from tears. "Akaashi... he..."

Bokuto stopped as soon as he heard a beep from his phone once again. It was a message from the unknown number from earlier. He slowly clicked the message on his inbox with his shaking hands, his thoughts so scattered, he wasn't able to think. He knew that the guy who called earlier knows what he's about to tell to his seniors.

Shut the fuck up, or else we will kill him. And a photo was again attached to the message with a gun pointed at Akaashi.

"Bokuto, are you okay?" Kousei called out as he notice his tears continuously flowing down his cheeks and his lips trembling.

He wiped away his tears and nodded. "Akaashi texted me to take over his job for today because he caught a cold." A small smile formed on his lips. Tears were in his eyes but he tried to look brave.

"You sure are a crybaby, huh? It's just a cold, it's not like he's going to die." Kouki blurted out that made Bokuto tremble in fear.

"Zip your fucking mouth, you moron." Kousei angrily said as he wrap his arm around his neck, putting him in a headlock.

"We'll do the usual." Naoi said as soon as he walks out of the room with Shibayama Yuuki on a wheelchair. "We will wait outside the examination room to guard him."

Looking at Shibayama Yuuki, he's about the same with the other patients on this hospital -pale and thin. He has slightly thick eyebrows, along with dark eyes. His hair is also jet black and is parted in the middle. He seems to be lively in the picture on his chart but looking at him right now, it seems like his condition is getting worse.

He forced a thin smile with his swollen lips and mumbled, "Sorry, I'm not really feeling well today."

Bokuto's chest clenched so tight, his conscience is eating him up. He's about to abduct an innocent person in exchange with the person's life he treasures the most. He's suffering mentally at that moment, there was a weight on his chest and he couldn't breath properly, just thinking of what will happen to this innocent person who keeps fighting against his illness.

"We'll always have your back so please continue with the examination." Kousei whispered before tugging the collar of Kouki's lab coat. "We have a lot of things to do for today so please excuse us, Akaashi-san." He bid his goodbye to Bokuto and pulled Kouki away from Shibayama's room. "Eh? But I'm done for today!" Kouki protested before turning at the right corner of the hallway.

"Shall we head to the examination room?"  Bokuto asked, forcing a smile at Shibayama.

Every step he made on their way felt like it was as heavy as lead and the examination room felt like it was so far away. The nearer he drew to the examination room the more he felt the guilt of abducting Shibayama Yuuki.

"I don't want Akaashi to die... but Shibayama will definitely be harmed by those bad guys who's ordering me to kidnap him. What should I do.... I don't know anymore... If only... If only Akaashi is here, he will know what would be the right thing to do..."

The flow of his thoughts suddenly stopped when Naoi suddenly called him out.

"This is the examination room, right?" He asked while pointing at the door that they just passed by.

"He did his examination last week there so we need to try the other machines from the other room just to make sure if the results will be the same as last week." Bokuto lied. There were four examination rooms for the CT Scan, MRI and neurological exam inside the hospital. He knew there wasn't any door that will lead him out of the room where Shibayama Yuuki did his CT scan last week.

"It's here."  Bokuto spoke, standing in front of a newly renovated room for the CT Scan examination.

"30 minutes will be the maximum time for the CT Scan, right? If you don't go out within that timeframe, we'll barge in to get him back." Naoi carried Shibayama and gently laid him on the patient table.

"The radio technologist will arrive soon so kindly wait outside while I perform the preparations." Bokuto closed the door behind him before sighing deeply.

"Uhm... you're not Akaashi-san, right?" Shibayama uttered still lying on the patient table, his eyes focused on the ceiling. His mouth felt dry and his voice was barely a whisper.

Bokuto was too dumbfounded to speak. He knew. Shibayama knew all along yet he went with him and still insisted on doing the examinations even if he knew he wasn't Akaashi and he was feeling unwell.

"Were you blackmailed by some guys and was told to abduct me?" Shibayama asked.

Bokuto nodded but said nothing and lapsed into silence.

"I wonder if it was from the Sakusa clan..."

Bokuto stared at him, too surprised to respond immediately.

"But aren't the bodyguards around your room are from the Sakusa clan? I just heard from the rumors..."

Shibayama finally looked at him, forcing a thin smile. "That was before, Doctor."

"Last year on the day of Christmas, my grandparents tried to visit my mother at the Sakusa mansion but she was nowhere to be found there. They hired private investigators to look for my mother and soon found out that she's admitted to a private hospital where people with mental illness are taken care off. Upon my grandparents' visitation, my mother spilled everything to them from the day she was abducted by the Shibayama family also about having me as her son."

Bokuto walked towards Shibayama and pointed outside of the room, asking, "So the bodyguards outside are not from the Sakusa clan?"

"Yes. The men that were hired by Sakusa Daiki were all thrown out by my grandparents that's why those bodyguards out there are from the Mizuho family."

"How could he be so calm about this?" Bokuto thought, hearing how calm and deliberate Shibayama's voice was.

"Where are you gonna take me, Doctor? Should I get back on my wheelchair or will you carry me at your back?" He dropped his legs down to the patient table and used his right hand to support himself to sit up. "My legs are kinda weak and I can't walk by myself."

"No... I'll bring you back." Bokuto spoke after his long silence. He couldn't take it anymore. What he's doing right now was so immoral and illegal. If he could just beg for Akaashi's safety or if he could exchange place with him, he will do everything just to save his life. But doing this... he doesn't want innocent people to get involved.

Bokuto knows that Akaashi will do the same thing. Akaashi didn't let him know about this because he knew that Bokuto will stop him and will be worried about him.

"They kidnap someone you love, right? Don't worry about me, Doctor. I know for sure nothing will harm me more than the pain I feel because of my illness. I feel contended and happy now, knowing my mother is safe under the care of my grandparents."

A small smile worked on its way across his face and into his eyes. "I'm tired of seeing people suffer because of me that's why please let me help you."

"Didn't he told us that the radio technologist will arrive soon?" One of the bodyguards asked.

"I'll check on them." Naoi tried to open the door but it was locked. He used his body to slam the door and soon to find  out, Bokuto Koutarou and Shibayama Yuuki were nowhere to be found inside the examination room.

"CODE RED! A DOCTOR HAVING A SPIKY WHITE-GREY HAIR WITH BLACK STREAKS IS WITH HIM!" Naoi shouted on his two-way radio to notify the others.

Men on black suits scattered on each floor of the the hospital from the ICU and CCU areas, special and sharing wards and even on the private rooms but there were no signs of Bokuto being there.

"He's not here." The man in charge on the second floor reported to Naoi using his two-way radio.

"No signs of him being here in the third floor." The man in charge on the third floor relayed.

Same with the fourth, fifth and top floor, Bokuto and Shibayama weren't found.

"I'll head to the security room. Ishikawa! Murase!" Naoi called out his subordinates. "They might come back here so stay and wait for the others." The two of them nodded approvingly.

Upon heading to the security room on the top floor, Naoi bumped into someone he didn't expect that he'll meet. A short guy with straight black hair styled in an undercut curtain, as well as narrow, intimidating dull gray eyes with dark circles around them and a deceptively youthful face.

"What's with rush?! Running around is prohibited in my hospital!" His voice was gruff and his brows were drawn together in frown.

"President Levi!" Naoi called out. "Good thing you're here!" He panted heavily.

"You need something?" Levi asked while looking at his scheduled appointments on his planner.

"One of your doctors kidnapped Shibayama!" Naoi exclaimed, Levi finally looking up at him.

"Son of a bitch." He ran as fast as he can to the security room and saw Kousei and Kouki in there, pressing the switches to lock the doors around the hospital.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Levi hissed as he saw on the CCTV footages that Bokuto was carrying Shibayama, helping him to get in his car.

"Now we're really doomed." Kouki and Kousei uttered while looking at each other.

"He's on the parking lot. I repeat he's on the parking lot. Gather everyone and follow the white Toyota Corolla Altis." Naoi ordered and soon went out of the security room to follow with the others.

"I need a fucking explanation right now." Levi said with an emphasis with each word, his arms folded across his chest.

February 6 7:45 PM 3-16-7 Ebisu-nishi neighborhood, Shibuya District

"We're almost there so please hang on a little." Bokuto pleaded while looking back and forth on the rear-view mirror of the car and on the road, three cars were following behind them.

"Detour on the left. There's a shortcut down there!" Shibayama pointed while tugging Bokuto's shirt.

As soon as they turn left, they went inside a dark hidden tunnel then Bokuto hurriedly switched off the engine, not wanting the illumination to be seen coming from the headlights.

"Hide." Bokuto whispered while ducking his head just below the steering wheel. He started breathing heavily and his heart was beating so fast he knew he'd pass out if he didn't calm down.

A few minutes later, Shibayama sighed in relief as soon as he saw three of the cars which were following them passed by, feeling quite sure that they won't go back again. "They're gone already. Let's go to the location they sent you so that we can save Akaashi-san."

"Bokuto-san?" Shibayama called out when Bokuto didn't move an inch.

Bokuto sat straight and gripped the steering wheel hardly while looking down. "Let me promise one thing to you, Shibayama-kun."

He glanced back at him and a small smile formed on his lips. "I promise that you'll get back home safely tonight."

After a 15 minute drive, both of them arrive at an abandoned warehouse around the neighborhood. Metal scraps, shards of glasses, crushed bottled waters and trashes around the warehouse can be found. Windows glasses were shattered and door knobs were either gone or broken.

"Finally you have arrived!" The owner of the unseen voice laughed lightly. "It's been a while, my lovely brother." A guy with a black messy hair with his fringe practically covering his right eye came out of the shadows.

"Takahiro...?" Shibayama can't believe who he's seeing right now. His half brother that he only saw on pictures is now in front of him, the guy who blackmailed and used Bokuto just to get a hold of him.

"You... You're one of the people working with the... Division of Intelligence Agency, right? The one who came with the others at our hospital... together with Shoyo and Daichi..." Bokuto asked as soon as he saw a glimpse of Sugawara's face, together with Iwaizumi and Tsukishima.

Sugawara nodded and looked away while biting his lip. He fucking messed up. Sugawara messed up for contacting Akaashi to kidnap Shibayama, not knowing Kuroo and Kenma have planned everything by taking Akaashi as their hostage and blackmailing Bokuto to do the deed so that Akaashi won't have the opportunity to abduct Shibayama and bring him to their agency.

It was all his fault that he took advantage of Akaashi's kindness. Akaashi wanted to repay them by not saving Kageyama's life back then so he started working with them secretly. But Sugawara didn't knew that everything will end up like this.

"Then why are you here together with that guy? You all kidnap Akaashi and you... all of you..." Bokuto became confused on his speech and stopped in the middle of what he was saying.

He can't believe that people like Sugawara who is working for the Division of Intelligence agency and who can be trusted will do something like this. He doesn't know what to believe and who to trust anymore.

"Where's Akaashi?" His round, golden-colored eyes were red with tears.

"Hey... please... where's Akaashi...?" His vision blurred with tears and he stood there precariously, begging them to give him Akaashi back.

Kuroo snapped his fingers and two of his men were dragging Akaashi on both of his shoulder.

"Let's go home, Yuuki. Father has been looking for you and waiting for your return." Kuroo spoke in a calm voice, assuring him that he won't do anything that will cause harm.

"If I go with you, will you let the both of them go?" Shibayama asked, persuading Kuroo to make a deal with him.

"I will. I won't have any use with this guy here anyway." Kuroo pointed at Akaashi who's half-asleep because of the sleeping drugs they gave him which are still in effect.

Shibayama started walking towards Kuroo while two of his men removed the rope tied on Akaashi's arms.

"Akaash---"

A loud siren was suddenly heard outside the abandoned warehouse, making the people inside froze in terror.

"You fucking called the police?!" Kuroo shouted, panic swelled within him. He hurriedly grab Akaashi's arm, who was about to run towards Bokuto. He wrapped his arm around his neck and pointed the gun at his temple.

Soon the place is swarmed with siren screaming representatives of the law enforcement community. A sniper quietly climbed up the roof and positioned his gun, accurately aiming it at Kuroo's head using the scope of the rifle gun.

When Kuroo instinctively looked up, he saw the sniper up the roof so he fired at him. Two men went inside the warehouse, aiming their shot at Kuroo but he swiftly used Akaashi's body to block the shot aimed at him.

Gunshot was heard and soon after, Akaashi's body collapsed on the pavement. Blood. There was a lot of blood gushing down his face.

Continuous gunshots were heard but Bokuto couldn't even move an inch from where he was standing. Shibayama was tugging his shirt hard to escape but he didn't care anymore. He was staring blankly at Akaashi's body, his lab coat that was white as snow is now covered with his own blood.

"Akaashi... akaashi..." He stumbled a few times as he walked towards Akaashi and tried to call him out over and over but he wasn't responding anymore.

He knelt down on his knees and reached out for Akaashi, giving him a tight hug. He gently caress his hair, already soaked with his blood before giving him a kiss in his forehead while tears coursed down his cheeks. "Akaashi... please wake up I'm begging you... please wake up."

A hard slap suddenly woke Bokuto up and Akaashi was on top of him, his anger clearly shown on his face. "Bokuto-san, please wake up! You're gonna be late for work."

Bokuto sat up slowly as he felt his head starting to ache again.

"What do you want for breakfast, Bokuto-san?" Akaashi asked while he was on the kitchen.

Bokuto didn't answered but he went to where Akaashi was and gave him a tight back hug.

"You had the same nightmare again, didn't you?"

Bokuto nodded, his head rested at Akaashi's shoulder.

Akaashi gently pulled Bokuto's arm off of him so he could clearly see his lover. He gently cupped his face and said, "It's been a month, Bokuto-san. Please don't think too much about it."

"I'm sorry."

Two words that he kept on saying to ask for forgiveness. If he could only bring back the time or if he could have noticed sooner that his lover was suffering, if only he was a little trustworthy so that Akaashi would have depended on him more or if he didn't slid a paper to Kousei's lab coat to call the police back then, this wouldn't happen to Akaashi. Maybe all of this wouldn't happen if things had been different.

The stored tears continued to flow and the sobs wracked his body, robbing it off the ability to speak -barely allowing a breath to be drawn. He gently stroke Akaashi's hair and trailed down to the bandage covering Akaashi's right eye, saying, "I'm so sorry, Keiji."
