IHM-XX

NIKOLAI SMITH

My gaze met hers as I began to recount the past, a hint of nostalgia in my voice.

"Back in high school, Elisa, I didn't know your name, and I did have feelings for you, but I was afraid to admit it to myself. At the time, I was caught up in a web of expectations and peer pressure. My friends had this whole plan for me to date you and I didn't see the need to though. I am sorry about that though."

I paused, remembering those days when the pressure to conform had been overwhelming. "I was young and foolish, and I allowed myself to be swayed by their influence. I thought it was easier to go along with their plan, even though it meant hurting you in the process."

Elisa listened intently, her eyes locked onto mine. "I regretted my actions almost immediately," I continued.

"Is that why you use to give me those pet names each day?" She asked with an unreadable expression on her face and I knew immediately she was hurt.
