I walked back to my room to see her lifeless body with the mask that was helping her breath over her nose. What I saw in her journal and Levi’s words hit me so hard. I wanted to get close to her but I was scared she would wake up and see me. 
I didn’t deserve to be close to her after all I’ve done yet I couldn’t stay away from her. 
I went to the bed and feel on my knees, the tears in my eyes had made my vision blur so I blinked to let them flow freely. 
“I’m sorry Elisa,” I mumbled, my eyes on her burnt hand….the same hand I burnt. Looking at it brought all the memories back and I fucking hated myself. I hated myself for everything I had put her through and I just wanted to put a gun to my head and pull the trigger.

The room fell into a stunned silence as Lyndsay's words hung in the air like an ominous cloud. The headline on the tablet screen had abruptly shifted to a breaking news banner: "Milton Conrad Found Dead in His Apartment."

Nikolai's eyes widened, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. The shock was palpable as we all turned our attention to the television which Lyndsay just turned on, where reporters were now scrambling outside Conrad's apartment building.

The news anchor's voice filled the room, her tone sombre. "We have just received breaking news that Milton Conrad, the prominent lawyer has been found dead in his apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at this time, but authorities are treating it as a suspicious incident. it could be a suicide or a murder. Further details will be given by the police."
