Part 17

A while had passed. We didn't have any school for that time, I used it to completely rest. That meant, no talking to anyone, and staying in my room. I snuck out every night to get food and eventually Izuku's mom started to leave whole meals for me in the fridge. I could tell they were getting worried, but I couldn't help it. I would probably be better when it was time for school, and that was what I could only hope for.

It was raining. Me and Midoriya walked silently to school. He had an umbrella and had tried multiple times to cover both of us with it. I instead embraced the rain by standing in it and letting it cover me.

When Iida ran by, he startled us and told us we'd be late. I watched as Izuku ran behind him to hold conversation. I sped up bit, but was still to far away to hear what they were talking about.

When we got into the school, I shook my head like a wet dog. Water went flying everywhere.

I watched as everyone talked about their popularity from being on tv. People were getting recognized and everything. I had only been out once since the festival, and that was to get to school today. No one had noticed me but I didn't mind, since I didn't want anyone to notice me anyway.

Everyone got quiet and said good morning to Mr.Aizawa when he came in. Tsu even noticed that he didn't have bandages anymore and I smiled at that. He had a cute scar under his eye now, but it wasn't too bad. When everyone started to freak out after he said something about hero informatics, I could only giggle when I noticed that Izuku seemed to be fine.

"You need codenames. Time to pick your hero identity." He said, and I watched as everyone practically jumped with joy. Everyone settled down quickly when he made an angry noise and his hair started floating. He went on to explain how recruitment worked and then showed us our total of offers.

I had gotten 2 offers. I looked over the list and agreed with what others were saying about how people probably gave more offers to Todoroki over Bakugo because one had to be chained to the podium. I laughed as I watched Ochaco shake Iida.

I was surprised when Midnight walked into the classroom. She was going to be judging our hero names, meaning I probably wouldn't be able to get away with something stupid. I held the whiteboard in my hands. Hero name? I've never had a hero name. What am I supposed to do?

I ended up hitting my marker against my head over and over again. I can't think of a hero name, so I'll just use my name. Not this name, but my actual name, the one that I didn't inherit. I looked down at the whiteboard as I wrought out, "Mangopaw - The Glitch Hero." I was originally going to put 'the multi-hero' but I found that if I was sticking to my name, I might as well stick to something more familiar to me too.

Midnight had called up people to share their names. I didn't know we were going to present these. I watched as people went up. Aoyama's hero name had me sweat dropping. Mina's name of "Alien Queen" made me smile at the silliness of it. When she was sent back I could only look on in confusion. When Tsu went up with her name, I tried my best to build up courage. I went up after her and simply held up my sign.

I didn't say anything, I could tell that the name confused everyone. "Mangopaw? Where'd you come up with a name like that." Midnight asks me. I mumble a bit before speaking up and saying, "It's my name. My actual name. A simplified version of the one on my birth certificates." I say, looking off to the side. "Ok, it's....interesting. What's the non-simplified version?" She asks.

"Mango P.A.-23" I say, grumbling. "Well, the first one is interesting, but I like the second one better. " Midnight says. I look up at her before in shock for a second before softly smiling. I turn the board around and erase the name before changing it to "Mango P.A.-23 - The Glitch Hero". I turn the board around one last time before taking my seat.

We go through the other names and I cringe at Bakugo's choice. I then smile at the simplicity of Izuku's name, or should I say Deku's?

Mr.Aizawa wakes up from his nap to hand out the list for each student. I look down at the two agencies on my list. I look around before looking back down at my paper. These agencies are interesting. I'm surprised even more when I find out that one of them is run by Kamui Woods. I don't know the other hero, but they work with capturing villains. Kamui Woods specializes in capturing villains too, but he also fights them. Sure I could go with learning how to capture villains but it'd also be great to learn how to fight better while learning how to capture them. This totally has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a really big fan.

I write down his agency in my choice list before turning it in. I must've been the first to choose since I'm the first person to hand up my paper. I was surprised when he gave everyone else two days to chose. But then again, a lot of people got a lot of offers, so I guess I can see why it'd take so long.

When we're dismissed and everyone starts to talk amongst themselves, I walk over to be near Izuku. When a group gets close and eventually asks him a question, I decide to pay attention.

"More importantly, there's something I've been meaning to ask you all day. Why are you trembling?" Ochaco asks Izuku. I look over at him and realize that he's vibrating like an energetic kid. He goes on to explain that he's exercising. I can only smirk.

When it's time for everyone to leave, I get up and join Ochaco and Izuku near the door. Izuku and I live in the same house, so it's useless to try to avoid anyone when they're walking home together.

I'm surprised when Izuku opens the door only to find All Might rushing in front of it. "HAHAHA, I'm am here in a bizarre position!" He announces. All Might gets Midoriya to follow him for a chat. I look around after they leave before deciding to walk home alone. I don't know how long Izuku is going to be gone for and I just wanna get home.

~Time Skip~

It was time for everyone to split and go to their hero internships. This was my first time since I got here, that I'd be away from Izuku. I watched as Izuku and Ochaco ran up to Iida and talked with him. I hadn't moved an inch away from where the large group of students had originally been standing. This was new, and I didn't like it.

I looked around and accidentally met eyes with Todoroki for a second before continuing to look around. I would have to leave soon. I look down at the case hanging from my right arm. I couldn't figure out a way to constantly keep it on me without forgetting about so I had just cuffed it to me. It was a good idea, since I had already let go of the handle without realizing it.
