Startled by the sudden company, he quickly grabbed his stick spear and held his prize close to protect it, the heat burning his hand enough to make him wince, to which the System promptly, and unfairly made him take damage. Pain in the ass... He gave a stern look to the figure clad mainly in green and brown, taking note they were armed with a bow and an actual weapon. Shit. "Ahh.. Uhhm... You there! This is, my food. I hunted it. Nearly killed me, but I still hunted it! So I will politely ask you to leave." The figure looked up, seemingly with a starved expression, the rumbling of their stomach clear. "Oh... but.. Just one claw..? I haven't eaten in days, since the village is quite far.." They said, a males voice ringing like a bell. "I'll even give you some advice to help you hunt! How's that?"
Skeptical, Kael took one of the claws and offered it to the stranger, who heartily slurped the crablike meat in one breath. "Phew! That's some good quality monster meat, y'know! I thank you, Human. I, Cean Lafgard will now escort you to the village closest to here!" The odd looking fellow bowed in thanks, confusing the hell out of Kael. It was just a claw of one creature, how good could it be? Taking his own claw, he slurped the tender, juicy meat out, it tasted way too good to have been simply roasted in flame. His stomach gave a sound of protest, begging for more, so he eagerly busted into the shell and started to devour the crustacean without pause, the meat almost melting in his mouth.
[Player Kael has unlocked a new skill: [Weak Water Control]Read description? Y/N]
He blinked a second, not believing his own luck. In the base game of Valhalla, there was only a 1% chance of getting a skill from eating a monster of the common level, which halved the stronger a monster got. Taking a peek at the Skills tab, he noticed that the (???) Skill had changed. Turns out, it was named [Gluttonous Nature]: A skill that slightly increased his ability to eat more than normal and the chance to get a skill from eating monsters, though only up to 5% at his current level. The other skill, [Weak Water Control] was a basic water magic skill, letting the user control water at a relatively useless level. It mainly consisted of moving a handful of water to where the user wished, at the cost of MP per minute of control.
"Not too useful...But this other one is pretty great! Except... I can't kill monsters easily." He mumbled quietly after thinking to himself, before the man sat up and watched him. "Excuse me but, are you talking about getting a skill from a monster? You're quite lucky then! If you'd like, I can bring you to the nearest village and help you hunt something along the way? You must be around level 5 if you beat one of those, they can kill anything lower rather fast you know." At this, Kael paled. He really bit off more than he could chew, trying to fight the first thing he saw like that. Dusting his clothing and gathering the bits of shell to store in his inventory for later, he nodded and decided to introduce himself. "That sounds fair to me, and I'll be sharing the food anyways. I'm Kael. It's a pleasure, Ceal. Shouldn't we get going before night falls? If I remember right, the predators come out at night.
Ceal nodded and started to move through the trees like a wraith of the forest, leaving Kael in the dust so bad that he slowed down just to walk side by side, keeping an eye on the forest to their backs. "You don't seem to be much stronger than an average person... Are you just extremely lucky?" He kept a steady pace through the forest, leading him to a well walked path that was hidden nicely from plain sight. "The village is down this road, if we don't see anything we won't stray from it to hunt. It's pretty dangerous, I don't even know how you got here."
Kael just laughed nervously, and continued to walk, spear in hand. He glanced at it a moment, and noticed it did not have a durability on it. Confused, he decided to check something. "Analyze." The stick's status popped up, and on it he could see the rather lackluster traits. It was on the verge of breaking, after he found the durability was at 1/5, and it only gave a +3 to his attacks. So STR, like in Valhalla gave a flat damage boost as well as increased how heavy an object could be carried. Carrying on after looking away from the stick, finally reached the edge of the wooded path, a large clearing with thick, vinelike walls sprouting everywhere, a wooden gate at the center of the outer ring. "We're here now. I'll let you crash at my place for a while, and see about getting you some travelling equipment we have to spare but... Don't make eye contact. After all, your kind is rarely allowed here without being a prisoner, or dead." Ceal stated this as if it were no big deal, and walked right through the slowly opening gate. The moment Kael entered however, two gleaming speartips in the shape of a leaf were at his throat.
