Eager to obtain his Class and status as an Adventurer, Kael gave no resistance as he was led into the private back area. The room was surprisingly plain, a small table with a dark purple crystal looking as if it had erupted from the center of the oaken slab that made the table itself. The chairs surrounding were clearly made for short use, no cushions or adornments to be found on either of the twin wooden seats. The rest of the area had a neat, tidy filing segment, where countless yellow paper folders were categorized alphabetically and color coded, mainly reds, blues and greens. Other colors seemed much rarer, only one or two Black or White tabbed folders amidst the hundreds of files. "Welcome, Welcome! This is our Registration room. Now, you may be wondering about all my files but I assure you they're locked with security spells so none but high-ranking members of the guild may read them." The Guildmaster spoke with a bubbly, excited ring in her voice, her eyes sparkling brightly. Something told him she was a bit on the less sane side of the spectrum between crazy and a fanatic. "If you would please sit, get comfortable, and put your hand on the crystal in the center!" She skipped to the other side like a little girl, clearly much too excited for something that should be common, right?
"Ahh.. Alright then?" A tad nervous, Kael sat in the seat offered slowly, making sure to keep his eyes on his surroundings. If something as weak as a crawdad could nearly kill him, he shouldn't take chances with his already reduced HP any more than he already has. "Before we start, I have a few questions. What do the tabs on those files mean? I noticed that the Black and White tabs were really rare." At this, she seemed a bit defensive about her answer, wording it cautiously. "Ahh... those would be our Unfathomables. Adventurers with either limitless growth potential or absurd powers. Those files are actually for the ones recruited here at this branch, and we're out in the sticks so to speak. So not many monstrously strong people come from here." She then turns to the crystal, waiting for him to touch it. Reaching out, the cold, dim light enveloped his hand, before a status screen shot up.
[Player is given choice. Choose "Job" Profession, Please.]
At this he blinked with surprise. The "System" had manners? Scrolling through, he saw hundreds of different jobs, most mundane or normal. Some were downright ridiculous, Like [Demon Lord's Death Knight] or [God's Chosen Hero]. He didn't want to stand out. That would probably get him killed faster, so he settled on a hybrid of mage and thief, the [Arcane Rogue]. This way his stealth tactics could get supported by magic, and his weak attack could be compensated for with spells! Pretty genius, he thought to himself.
[Arcane Rogue Job has been granted. Player already has [Stealth] and [Assassinate], two extra skills will be given instead. Player was given [Weak Illusion Magic], [Low-Tier Magic Control], [Blessing of The System], and [Cooking] Based on the Player's actions.]
Eager to test his new things out, he wanted to get the rest of the registration process over as fast as possible. Having four new skills at once was insanely lucky! If he hadn't had [Stealth] and [Assassinate], he was sure he would have gotten them here. Turning to the guild master, he started to ask what was next but she had an awestruck expression on her face, the crystal had gone from dark purple to a kaleidoscope of color, swirling in every shape and pattern. "In all my years... Th..This needs reporting! You're an Unfathomable! I'll go get your card; just wait here and feel free to read up on the local monster life with this!" She quickly pressed a thickly bound, heavy duty tome that seemed to be freshly made into his hands, the heavy book making him wince in surprise. The cover was in a thick, reptilian hide, labeled "Oswalds Monsterpedia for New Adventurers." He remembered getting a similar page in the menu of Valhalla when he started out, basically giving information about monsters as they were encountered or killed. Though taming was possible, few did because monsters were quite hard to feed. "This is some Professor O*k type shit... what are they gonna do, give me a Pik**hu?" He mumbled to himself, thumbing through the tome slowly. Finding the Fire Salamander, he realized he was insanely lucky to actually survive that encounter. The creature could create a ring of fire around it as self defense, easily scorching an unwary hunter. It seemed like he just had godly luck going for him, anything he's picked a fight with so far could easily slaughter him if he wasn't so cautious. Soon, the bright faced guild master came back; almost tackling him with a hug! "!?!?!" Startled, he reeled back. Being a shut in; he'd barely ever had human interaction after high school. Much less a hug from a woman! "Err.. so.. what's this about...?" He managed to make out a sentence without panic in his voice, the smaller woman still clinging to him like a child. It would be cute... if he didn't know she was probably much older than him. Turning her babyish face up to grin at him, she started to rapidly chatter away. "Oh you're going to do so much good here!!! You'll never believe it, you have horrible stats but you have ridiculously high level skills for your current level, so your growth is likely to be rapid and powerful. We've been having trouble with a lot of dangerous monsters lately, so we need all the help we can get to clear them out... will you please stay with our guild? We can provide room, board and three free meals as long as you do quests regularly. There's also a 10 silver starting fund to get you some supplies...." She overwhelmed him with both a firm squeeze of his waist, the warmth creeping up to his ears, and a puppy eyed look no self respecting man could say no to without feeling guilty.
Defeated, Kael resigned himself and accepted, getting a slender copper card that easily went into his inventory and integrated surprisingly, telling him he now had the ability to call it at will and freely use its functions for adventurers. The inventory however, didn't shock the guildmaster. Seems like all who register as adventurers have a limited inventory space they can use via magic.
Going downstairs to the now rowdy hall, he was bombarded with claps on the shoulders and raised drinks, before being led to a room that had his name on a semi holographic stone. "This is your bunk, you may end up sharing at some point and since we feel you're an upstanding young man, we might even pair you up with a girl." Her voice took a mischievous tone, sending a chill down his spine. He then thanked everyone for the warm welcome, politely declining a speech and retreating to the comforting solace of the room. Seems like low tier magic was used to make it soundproof to the outside bustle. Collapsing onto the decent enough bed, he laid back and eventually drifted off into slumber..
