Chapter 4: The tale of two cities

Chapter 4: The tale of three cities

"Now Gao, you seem to be in confusion about what happened in the mid-point of our fight."

"Most definitely." Gao answered.

"What do ya mean Gao,"Yue questioned."How can you not know what happened?"

"Short term memory loss or something?" Roshi snickered

Gao looked at him with a face that emulated the word, Bruh.

Turning back to face Horikoshi, he asked, "What occurred?! How could I have lost consciousness and remained on my feet?"

"You achieved a technique. In that moment, you were absolutely focused on one thing and one thing only. Victory .So thus, in your utter focus, you obtained extra power. As I prior said, it occurs when all focus is on one thing, victory. But here is what happens. All prior, training, skills, instinct, they all meld into one. That is to say, that in this form you are the strongest, physically. However, in this form, You lose the ability to think strategically. So in conclusion, this skill is to be used at the right place and time, otherwise it might just be a hindrance. But, If used responsibly, can result in a flawless victory.Quite lucky of you to achieve that in the fight, you were close to winning with it."

"By calculated guessing," Hirokoshi whispered.

"Hahaha," Roshi guffawed, "makes sense you got that skill, considering the amount of brain cells you have!"

"

Even Yue had to let out a little snicker.

Gao was getting tired of Roshi.

"Anyway, now that you three have graduated, it's time for you to learn about the fighter league."

"Fighter leagu…..?"

"Oops, I wasn't meant to say that today, it was for tomorrow. Bye guys, well done, proud of you , see ya, wouldn't want to be ya." He proclaimed while pushing the three of them out the door.

"Have a good day and well done u three. Proud of you!" He shouted while slamming the door.

After contemplating their various and diverse victories, they each decided to go tell their parents the great news.

"Roshi opens the door to see his dad on a call.

"Oh he must be on another call for work," Roshi pondered. He deeply wished to tell his dad the good news, but chose not to disturb him. Just while he was shutting the door, his dad came out of his headphones and asked "So… How did it go?"

"I passed, with flying colours no less,!" He pronounced while rubbing his finger under his nose.

His dad gave him a thumbs up before heading back into the meeting. Roshi sighed and sat himself down in the chair. Then, his sister ran up to him.

"Well done roshi!" she said before hugging him

Roshi smiled.

Yue opened the door to her house to find her mum at the kitchen table, preparing fried rice.

"I assume You passed?"

"Course.." Yue said, a stab of pain hitting her heart.

"Not that it wasn't expected." Her Mother spoke with an expressionless look on her face.

And another stab. Not even proud, just expected.

She walked upstairs, feeling as though just because of this seemingly little thing, her heart had lost another piece.

Gao walked in to see his parents on the couch. They immediately got up though, and welcomed him, congratulated him, and they all sat down to watch a documentary.
