Anguish

A dent appeared in the wall, then another. As Lucaria went to strike once more, a bright light appeared just before the wall, stopping her from hitting it again. After trying to push through but to no avail, Lucaria slumped down to the ground, only to see Gao trying to pick up Roshi, face still distraught.

"What happened here?" Yue whispered sharply.

"Assassin. Maybe hired. Had one of the artifacts. From another one of the twelve? But why Roshi and Gao? They haven't made a name for themselves at all! Why?!" Lucaria shook in anger.

Katlyn walked up to Roshi and put her finger on his pulse. After some more basic checks, she looked at the nigh-frozen Gao, rubbed his head a bit, then said, "Let's bring him downstairs to the medical centre. Natasha, go wake up Juan."

Natasha kicked the floor before she disappeared. Lucaria, go report this to her."

Lucaria shook her head, saying "Let me see him awake."

Katlyn saw Lucaria's expression and just turned around and walked to the lift

The journey on the lift was silent. Gao was silent and downcast, as though the wind had been cast out of him. Physically and mentally exhausted. Yue was annoyed at herself for not supporting her friends in their time of need. The veins on Lucaria's hands pulsed with tension, while Katlyn's eyes glinted with a hint of disgust. Once again, the music started playing, but none were listening.

Katlyn opened the door to see Juan talking to Natasha. Juan saw all of them walking through the door, and immediately gestured to Roshi.

" Let me take a look at him." Lucaria immediately rushed forward with Roshi, and placed him in Juan's hands.

"Be careful."

Juan nodded, as Katlyn whistled in a dark tone, and the room started to shift. The floor changed, the room rearranged itself, becoming more clean and sterile. A reclining doctor's chair appeared from the ground, and a cupboard appeared from the wall.

First the pulse, then his breathing, then his bones and muscles. Juan walked up and got some pills from the fridge.

"He should be fine actually. No serious damage. What knocked him out originally was probably the pressure from his own weapon pushing him against the wall. When he wakes up, tell him to take these to ease the pain. Can I go back to bed now?"

"Sorry about that Juan," Natasha said, rubbing his hair," Take some rest."

Juan got up and stumbled out of the room, pointing his thumb upwards.

Natasha pointed to Yue and Gao. "Your friend is completely fine. You two off to bed, get some rest."

Gao and Yue silently walked out.

"It was our fault exposing them so early in their development. We need to be more careful about that." Katlyn said

Lucaria grunted back in return.

"Should have trained them harder. I failed them."

"Stop being a negative behemoth. Just get them some new weapons, train them to the bone, then wait for it to be reported tooo."

"Me."

A woman's voice echoed throughout the room, and the three members of dual flame shook in abject terror.
