12. System Options
Callie woke to another feeding and changing. She didn't particularly like these parts of being a baby again, and she really wasn't looking forward to things like puberty either, but the more she thought about how many options and opportunities lay in store from here, the more she grew to accept her current circumstances.
Callie was still tired from staying up all night. And even though her mother soon set her back in her bassinet, she didn't go back to sleep. But she also felt too sleepy to read Help Articles.
However, as she lay peacefully in her bassinet, Callie realized...there wasn't much else to do.
Callie could kick her little legs and arms, or cry, or sleep. Otherwise, the only source of engagement was the System. Honestly, if she'd been reincarnated like this in a world without a system, Callie felt she probably would have lost her mind sometime during infancy.
So, Callie gave up on her exercise and opened her Status. Immediately, a couple of pop-ups came up.

Callie grinned to herself as she studied her Status screen. So, if her health dropped to anything but 0, her recovery stat was high enough to get her to full health within 1 minute. Well, honestly, it could get her to full health a little more than 3 times over in 1 minute!
Maybe she should invest in those Physical stats more than she had so far? After all, Health was the system's way of measuring her lifeforce, meaning if it hit zero, Callie would die. Again.
Still, Callie worried what would happen if she had superhuman strength as a newborn. She didn't want anyone knowing about her system upgrade until it was too late to stop her rise to power. Maybe not even then. After all, the best advantage was a secret advantage.
Callie deliberated over what to do now, though. She really didn't feel up to more pain or more reading right now. She needed a little more recovery before she'd be ready to deal with more of all of that. Meanwhile, what was there to do?
The tabs beside the Status tab caught Callie's eye, making her grin.
'Well, if Store tab is locked, what about the rest? System, open Inventory tab, please!'

Callie rolled her eyes in annoyance. It seemed like everything interesting either said Unknown, Error, or Locked in this dang system.
'Okay, how about the Building System tab?'

'Of course it is.' Callie thought. She sighed loudly. 'Well, then, what about System Options tab?' She asked without much hope.
Much to Callie's surprise, the screen instantly changed, and a new screen was set before her eyes.

Callie studied the list for a few minutes more. 'I wonder if those experience and mission bonuses stack? I can't wait until I get a chance to experiment with all of these things.' She glanced back up near the top. 'Though a few of these I honestly have no idea what they'll do.'
None the less, the possibilities Callie could see on the list made her imagination run wild.
