'I can't see a damn thing!'
Asher couldn't hear me at all; the gale was howling as it barrelled across the open valley, picking up speed every step of the way. The ditch was already pooling with rainwater in most places as well, causing me to slip and land on my face every five seconds.
A broken branch, maybe four foot long appeared out of nowhere, wedging itself into the sinking soil before me.
My heart was hammering; I couldn't see Asher, but I knew he had to be there. 'Not much further, it can't be.'
I nearly bumped into a wall of soil, a dead-end where the trench we were following came to a deep and abrupt halt.
'Dammit, my feet keep sliding!' Asher complained.
I heard him this time. 'Just teleport up there and pull me out.'
