End Of The Road

I tried to drag Asher out of the car first, though it was proving impossible. Even if I could wrench his legs free, the unique gravitational stresses around his body were ferocious. And there wasn't so much as a flinch when I attempted to shake him.

Melia sighed, having opened the opposite door. 'Whatever this is, we can't get them out.'

The mage laughed, moving to hover closer. 'No you can't; and neither can we. It matters not though; the only thing left for you all to do is join us. Are you ready?'

We didn't answer.

Hilgarda was jumping up and down, waving us back. 'There's nothing you can do for them. Come back inside!'

The mage frowned. 'I will not permit you to leave. Existo Nightmouth!'

Professor Melia dove for the ground, crawling underneath the car for cover. The spell hit the vehicle's rear door, causing atomic bonds to fail and flash into vapour. Still, Asher and Violet did not flinch.

'Frost Slap!'
