Who Knew Studying Could Kill You?

Kline was pointing at the eight-pronged device fixed to the ceiling, its blue control wiring snaking around the outskirts of the room like a complex Dado rail. 'As you can see, it's active, but you need only adjust the scope parameters to reverse its effects.'

I flew over to inspect the monitor, and on it showed several dials, the scale one being the most critical, I assumed. 'Usually, I wouldn't put myself and my friends first, but-'

'You've got to get out there. I understand, gather together on the wheel-mounted chair.'

I was about to call the others but stopped myself. 'What if it rolls away? Wouldn't it be easier to stand on the floor instead?'

Kline scrunched up his face. 'Are you the expert in these things? No, I didnt think so. I happen to know that if a person is too far away, it may not work correctly. It was never Erica's intention to let people go, so do as I ask.'
