Toxic engine fumes flooded the air, and the airship's stern seemed to hover above us longer than was necessary before it moved away. 'Weird, I wouldn't have expected Elves to resort to using vessels such as those.'

'Asher, we're not that much different from you humans. Every developing world must utilise whatever resources it has at hand,' Sameth glanced at the brainwashed people waiting in the queue. 'Some worlds do go too far, though.'

'Anyway,' Cali interrupted. 'Are we seriously going to wait behind all these people?'

'What do you want me to do, barbecue their brains more than they already have been?'

'No,' Cali fired back at me. 'It's just we're not going to get anything done if we're stuck here. You could open a portal.'

I shrugged. 'Auraculum says we can't.'
