Not Our War

Over half an hour had passed, and the blind firing artillery rounds weren't so wild anymore. More and more were striking Dauntless's hull. 'Man, I love Trixium metal.'

'Don't assume anything, co-pilot. While the material is amazingly durable, some things can penetrate it. And if you let your guard down even for a second, I guarantee you'll learn what those are the hard way.'

Calvin sulked, but instead of tearing up further, he sniffled and locked his gaze on the screen before him. 'Got you.'

'Report.' Rac ordered without a trace of emotion.

'Sir, It's coming up on our portside.' Calvin magnified the projection. The craft was still using the cloud cover to hide its movements, not that there was much to hide. In the fraction of a second, it took to open fire, the brief light reflected off its smooth dark hull.

'I see four massive cannons, but I don't see much in the way of a bridge as we'd define one.'
