ANOTHER TIME, ANOTHER PLACE
Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the doctor, but I do think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever, for one moment, accepts it. Everybody knows that everybody dies, but not everyday, not today. Some days are special, some days are so, so blessed, some days nobody dies at all, now and then every once in a very long while, one day in a million days when the wind stands fair and the doctor comes to call....
...EVERYBODY LIVES. (Quote by River Song)
The book I was reading was written by someone named Melody, she wrote about a man, a man with no name, a man that calls himself the doctor, not a doctor but the doctor, she writes about how he saves civilisations. I had read in newspapers about a man that travels around in a blue police box, I've never seen him, but there are people that believe he exists, some say he's just a hoax, a legend, but then again we all know even legends begin somewhere, take the legend of vampires or witches, we exist, but most humans don't believe we exist. I don't think about weather or not he exists, I just love reading this book.
My name is Clarissa, I am over seven thousand years old. I have seen the world, I have seen countless wars, battles, boarders, divisions, a never ending hatred but this story isn't about the humans, no this story is about vampires and their arch enemy, the werewolves, for eternity these two species have fought an endless battle, and no one can even remember why, not even me, the oldest living vampire. It still doesn't end. Try as I may, it doesn't end.
"Help me" Damon's strained voice came from the entrance, I looked up from my fascinating book to see Damon holding up an injured Stefan, I put down the book, blinked to them and allowed Stefan to put his left arm around me and together Damon and I guided the very heavy Stefan to the sofa
"What happened?" I asked once Stefan was lying down
"He was bitten, by a werewolf" Damon told me, I looked at Stefan's right arm and the wound I saw was huge, the bite was on his inner arm under the elbow, it looked deep, really deep, and the veins around it were turning black, the black veins had reached his neck, and some were even under his black tee going down his chest. The venom was spreading rapidly and I knew Stefan was going to die.
He was breathing rapidly, taking shallow breaths, I held his hand, his good hand and kissed the back of it, tears running freely
"I forgive you" I told him, knowing I would probably never get a chance to say it again Damon screamed
"He didn't deserve this" he shouted
"How did this happen?" I whispered
"We were in the woods" Stefan needed to feed" Damon began, Stefan had always drank animal blood, he said human blood caused him to lose control, he became savage when he drank from a human, I'd never seen it myself but he had told me back when we were dating, Damon carried on "we were stopped by werewolves, they started to circle, then they started to fight us, we tried to fight back but Stefan got bitten, I had to get him out of there, I'll kill them, Clarissa, I promise I'll kill them" Damon was crying too, a werewolf bite is fatal to a vampire, even a small nip will kill a vampire, there is, however, a cure, the original cure came from an original vampire, but the original vampire is dead, the cure, without his blood, takes weeks to make, only a witch can brew the cure.
"Not yet" I shook my head "Stefan needs you, Damon, don't let him take his last breath without you by his side" Damon looked me in the eye, then looked away
"Jess, Jessica, I'm sorry Jessica" Stefan was looking behind me, of course there was no one there, he was hallucinating, "I love you Jessica, please don't leave me, I can't, I can't leave my life behind, my brother, my brother, he needs ...." Stefan stopped talking, he was sweating now, his hands were clammy, I wanted to know who Jessica was.
I suddenly remembered I might have the cure, I had brewed some a few weeks ago, but had I used it all? I couldn't remember, I stood up and wiped at my tears
"I'll be back" I promised and blinked to my office, there was a painting of the old pub, the original pub I had bought over five thousand years ago, the painting moved, opened like a door, I opened it, behind it was a small wooden door, I opened it, inside I had many bottles of various things, wings of a bat, eyes of a cat, a crocodiles scale, and a lions tail, but what I was after was the werewolf bite cure, I found the bottle, I took it, closed the door, put the painting back then blinked to the Salvatore brothers I held up the bottle to show Damon, I opened Stefans mouth and held it open whilst I poured the contents down his gullet, he coughed a little, the film of sweat on his forehead was now running down to his neck and onto the sofa, I feared I was too late
"Let's get him to his room" I suggested to which the older brother nodded, I put one hand on Stefans right shoulder and held Damon's hand with the other and I blinked us so that Stefan would land on the bed I landed next to him on the floor on my feet, Damon cursed as we landed, I realised he banged his knee on the bedside table, I apologised but he waved me off, he sat on the bed next to his brother,
"Will he be okay?" He asked to which I honestly told him I didn't know, I couldn't tell if the drug was working, it would be slower for Stefan anyway as he didn't drink human blood, it was just a waiting game now. I hated the waiting game. I also needed to remember to make more of the cure, as it would take nearly three weeks to make.
I said nothing as I blinked to the desk and drank some of my special mojito, I drank a glass then went to the bar, I asked Eli to give me a glass of human blood, Stefan would need it, when he woke, if he woke, I sniffed at the thought, he would wake, he had to.
I blinked to his room there had been no change yet, no obvious change, I loved Stefan not the falling in love type of love, but the brotherly kind, I know what you're thinking, isn't he the same guy I went out with? Yes he was the same guy, but I never really loved him in that way, I think I only went out with him to make Damon jealous, yes alright, I hear you laughing, you probably guessed it, it didn't work, infact Damon couldn't be happier when he found out I had asked Stefan to be my boyfriend, but when I found out Stefan had cheated I was secretly happy, glad that we could finally break up, every time we kissed I felt like I was kissing my brother, eww, safe to say we were only intimate once, never again, and that's why Stefan had cheated, I never blamed him for it, it was just easier to feign anger than to admit I was glad.
Stefan started to come around now, Damon and I were both at attention, his hand went straight to his forehead as if he had a headache, then as if remembering he lifted his hand to look at the wound, it had healed, but just to make sure he looked at the other arm too, when he found no wound he looked at Damon for answers
"Hello brother" Damon cried then hugged his brother tight I got up off the bed to give them both space, I was about to leave but Damon started talking "Clarissa had some bite cure, she used it on you" he whispered, Damon let go of Stefan and Stefan looked at me and thanked me, Damon moved off the bed and signalled me to come on over, I rolled my eyes but went to Stefan, I hugged him.
"I remember you saying you forgive me" Stefan spoke quietly in my ear without letting go
"I do, Stefan, I really do" I whispered
"I'm glad" Stefan said in all seriousness, when he let go I took the glass of blood off the table and gave it to him "I can't" he refused the human blood
"Drink, Stefan, you need the strength, Damon and I will make sure you don't get in trouble" I promised, Damon nodded with a wink and a smile. Stefan drank the blood, slowly, when he was done I left to go back to the desk, Eli had watched the desk for me, I nodded as a thanks, he gave a small salute in acknowledgement.
A few more hours of rest and Stefan was fine.
Damon was hell bent on revenge and Stefan and he left
"I HAVE NO MORE OF THE CURE LEFT, YOU WILL GET YOURSELVES KILLED" I shouted after them, but they left.
I had asked Stefan who Jessica was but he brushed me off telling me she was no one, I didn't believe him, he was hallucinating about her on his death bed, she was definitely not no one, but I would wait patiently for my answer, I would get my answer, of that I was certain.
