Upon a horse as black as night, sat a girl in armour her long, wavy, silver hair which passed her waste was tied up in a high ponytail which sparkled in the moonlight. Her radiant, pale face and ocean blue eyes were void of any emotion, along her waste hung two swords.
Sadly that was only a dream of a lonely princess named Diana, who supposedly has the love of her parents, older brother and subjects but always felt incomplete.
That princess lives a life full of hurt and solitude. Diana was awoken from her dream by her maid Beatrix and with a sigh, she woke up to face the day still wishing with all her heart that dream was a reality. That she could be a knight who fights to protect her home and people.
"Good morning princess," Beatrix said cheerily as Diana got out of bed and opened the curtains to reveal an extraordinary view of the Kingdom.
"Good morning," Diana replied going over to her walk-in wardrobe and picking out a simple blossom pink dress and a pair of matching blossom pink flats with only a slight heel. Diana's never really been one of those girls who care about the dress they wear or how well done her make-up may look.
Some thought that to be unusual especially since she's a princess however, suiters and dresses and expensive jewellery don't interest her in the slightest. Being a knight does. Diana once asked her parents if she could become a knight and it was like the room dropped in temperature and all though they tried to sound gentle she heard the strain in their voices as they rejected the idea.
They said it was for Diana's protection but she felt like that wasn't true they've always treated her like she's made of glass but this time was different and every time she brings it up they get into massive arguments but she won't back down.
Dian thought as she got dressed in the changing area of her wardrobe ready for breakfast with her family.
"Are you ready to go princess?" Beatrix asked.
"Yes Beatrix," Diana replied as she headed off to the dining area Beatrix doesn't accompany her there so Diana gets to be alone except for the guards guarding different areas of the castle.
She arrived at the doors and one of the Knights opened it for her and she smiled a fake smile at them to say thank you.
Before heading inside Diana took a glance at the silver outline of a pheonix on her right wrist, people inside the palace used to comment on how odd a birth mark it is but she never let it get to her. Diana believes that one day it will prove to be what puts an end to all her pain or it may just be the beginning of it all.
After glancing at her birth mark and headed inside towards her seat at the table before the guard shut the door behind her.
"Good morning little sister," Diana's older brother Blake greeted.
"Good morning Blake, good morning mother, good morning father." Diana greeted all of them as she took her seat across from Blake.
"How did you sleep?" her mother asked before taking a bite of her pancakes.
"Very well thank you for asking," Diana replied and they continued eating accompanied by some idle chatter.
After finishing her breakfast Diana excused her self as her brother and parents had some business to complete for today.
She headed for the forest behind the castle and ventured inside. When Diana was far enough from the palace she found a stick and practised her sword skills. She can't use a sword otherwise it will be reported missing however her friend Camilla is a guard and she comes out to spar with Diana when ever she can.
Diana always practice alone until Camilla gets here lucky Diana's parents just believe she's out and about somewhere inside the castle. They may supposedly love Diana but it doesn't feel right in a way like it's a fake love, one Diana only ever payed attention to when it caused her to loose someone she cared for deepily. That's when she noticed something off with them and how they act towards her isn't that of how parents act towards their children, but theirs something else that bothers her she just hasn't figured it out yet but she will.
"Hey Diana," Camilla said causing Diana to loose her train of thoughts.
"Hi Kim," Dina greeted her in reply. Kim's a nickname everyone calls her it.
"You ready to get started?" she asked passing Diana a sword so they can spar.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Come on let's start," Diana said taking up a fighting stance as Kim began running towards her.
Diana easily defender pushing her back and attacking. They did this repeatedly trying to defeat each other. Kim ran towards her and Diana was backed up against a tree with nowhere to go. But up.
Just as Kim got near, Diana jumped up into the air flipping around and used her free hand to push her friend into the tree. She landed behind Kim levelling her sword at Kim's throat and kicking her sword out of her hand and into Diana's free, left hand. Diana levelled that one at Kim's throat as well.
Kim smiled at the young princess "You've improved you could beat almost all the generals it's a shame King Brennan and Queen Amara won't allow you to become a knight."
King Brennan and Queen Amara are Diana's parents and they refuse to allow her to become a knight but they never said she couldn't train without their knowledge. Dian just found a loop hall.
"I know but there's nothing I can do their not only my parents but the king and queen to I can't defy them," Diana sighed as she handed Kim back her swords, after handing them back Diana watched as Kim sheathed the two swords.
"Well you are technically defying them by training aren't you?" Kim asked smirking.
"No, not really. They said I couldn't become a knight they never said I couldn't train."
"Clever as always Diana but you will get punished if you get caught by them."
"Yeah, I know I'll just not get caught I haven't yet. Have I? "
"Very true, well I should be getting back sorry I'll see you tomorrow bye." Kim said as she headed back towards the palace. Diana stayed in the forest for a little longer before heading back to the castle.
She decided after reaching the castle that she'd try again to ask her parents if she could become a knight so Diana headed for their office. She knows they're most likely going to tell her, no but Diana has to become a knight. It's part of who she am also she doesn't ever feel right when she imagines life without being a knight and her parents don't get that.
She won't ever give up until she becomes a knight and proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that she can do it. Even if that means she has to disobey her parents then so be it.
She will become a knight no matter what.
With Diana's newfound resolve, she found her self in front of her parent's office and after bracing myself for what was most likely going to be an argument I knocked on the door.
