A Battle To Be Won (3)

He blocked Diana's next attack by grabbing her wrist and tossing her away. She quickly extended her left hand with her sword in her right and pushed off the ground backflipping in the air before landing on the ground.

"Impressive," he complimented as she parried his on slaughtering attacks.

"You're not so bad yourself commander," Diana commented with a snide smile.

Quickly she aimed a lower kick hitting his left leg twice before he blocked her with his sword cutting into her leg luckily it's not a deep wound. She blocked his advances with her blade throwing attacks at his left whenever she can.

As Diana blocked his vigorous attacks he swiftly pulled out a hidden dagger and like a flash deepened the gash he made earlier on her side. Quickly she hit the dagger away causing it to land on the floor close to her other blade.

"Clever" she complimented "but you made one mistake," she pointed out.

"Oh?" he asked sarcastically raising an eyebrow "and what's that?"

"You left your side wide open," as Diana said it she shot a high kick to his rib cracking two more and then kicked his lower leg breaking his leg.

"Ahhhhh," he hisses as he lost balance on his left leg falling to the ground before he could even attempt to get to his feet she pointed her blood stained blade at his throat.

"Surrender," she ordered her voice firm.

"Alright, I surrender," commander Dolosus regretfully admitted his defeat, slumping back and releasing his grip from his sword and threw it away. "Are you going to finish me then?" he asked without a trace of fear in his voice, determination in his eyes and courage in his face.

"No," Diana answered plainly stabbing her blade into the ground beside his head leaving then both unarmed.

"What?" he asked confusion evidently plasted upon his face.

"We made a deal besides it's pointless to shed further blood if it isn't necessary,"

"Your probably the first opponent I've faced that holds such values,"

"Maybe," Diana replied "this world has become tainted once the kingdoms and people were happy but then this war started and blood was spilt without reason and the hatred and anger built in others hearts. Then more and more blood was spilt without reason many people are fighting in this war without even knowing why it started."

"I guess that's true, but can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead,"

"Your not from Fortis are you?"

"Your correct, but why do you ask?"

"Because none of the knights I've ever faced have fought like you and your appearance is different from any I've seen in this kingdom," the commander explained.

"I came from Malum to get away," Diana answered truthfully.

"Then why involve yourself in this war?"

"Because it's gone on for far to long and far to many have died, it needs to stop."

"You are truly worthy to be a knight and maybe you will help end this war," Commander Dolosus smiled sincerely at her.

"Thank you,"

"The reason this war began was because....." before he could finish his explanation he pushed Diana aside.

The blow was so unexpected she lost her balance and fell to the floor. Quickly Diana got back to her feet but when she ooked at the commander she saw an arrow protruding from his chest. Diana realised that the arrow was protruding directly over the area of his chest where she had been before he pushed her away.

"Commander Dolosus!" Diana yelled running to his side "Why did you do that?"

"Because....I know you...will end this war," he explained between strained breaths.

The arrow didn't look like any Fortis arrow she'd ever seen and Diana doesn't think it's from Noblis.

"Commander, is this arrow from Noblis?" Diana asked although she already knew where it most likely came from.

"No...its not one of ours...we don't use black..arrows,"

"So it is theres," Duana thought allowed.

"....who's?..."he asked breathlessly.

"Malums," she answered plainly "however, they haven't chosen a side to fight on instead they're fighting on their own side."

"How do...you know?"

"Like I said I'm from there,"

"Can...I ask you..something?"

"Go ahead,'

"Who are...you parents?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Because your...hair and eyes remind me of a dear...friends,"

"I highly doubt you know my parents besides I look nothing like them," Diana explained

"I see.."

"However, I will answer your previous question regarding my name,"

"Really?"

"Yes, you earnt it after all, my name is Diana and I'm Prince Alexander's personal knight," she explained lacking emotion.

"Its good...to know your not having...your talents wasted as just....an ordinary knight,"

"Thank you," Diana could tell he means every word but his time is shortening by the second, Diana kneeled down beside him on the ground.

"Diana....end this war...with as few casualties.....as...possible..."

"I promise I will," she said sincerely smiling at him.

"...Good..then...I can...leave it to...you....."he closed his eyes struggling to hold on as his life seeped away. "D-Dia...na t..ake this," he said struggling to take of a bracelet around his wrist before extending his shaky hand to her giving Diana the bracelet. "I...it will...help y-you....i-...n the f-f...future."

"Thank you," she said sincerely smiling at him.

"S...so y...y..o-ou can....smile," he commented smiling back before he dissolved into a fit of coughing and a trale of blood dripped from his mouth. "My...fight s-seems t-to....be up but-but yours is just-t b-beggining." With this he breathed his left breath but not before one thought crossed his mind 'I'm sorry old friends, I finally found her but I couldn't bring her back to you but don't worry I know you'll be reunited soon.'

"Good bye commander Dolosus, I will end this war and get revenge on your killers you deserved a more honourable death than this. You shouldn't have died pierced by an arrow shot by a coward who wouldn't even stay to finish the job or attack with any honour." Diana swore this to him even if he can't hear her. Diana knows she will end this and evenge his honourless death. Her face changed back to its emotionless state as she stood retreaving her sword theres still a battle to end and she can't do that from the floor.
