"If they die now, they'll come across as martyrs" Salvatore glared at the television. The image of Chiara talking on screen enraged him, mostly because he had painted their disappearance as a kidnapping where he had done his best to protect them. Now with Chiara insinuating that an officer was involved with her kidnapping and torture, he was under the microscope.
His eyes flit toward the glass windows, he could see the other officers talking in whispers amongst themselves. They were talking about him and he knew it. She had pointed the finger at him and even threatened him and although the public didn't know it yet, they soon would. His job was in jeopardy and so was his cover.
Salvatore looked down at his laptop, wondering how much longer he had left. The news reported kept talking about Chiara and about the surgery.
He decided to pay Marsala a visit immediately.
"Bella?" he called and his secretary peeped into his office.
"Yes sir?" she asked.
