Exactly six weeks ago at some roadside food kiosk, Livo and I made a pact. I take care of their financial issues and they join my gang. In short, I feed them and they be loyal to me. Livo was more than eager to agree something about being impressed by me which made me a little suspicious.
But they've been ,difficult to control yes , but loyal non the less. I've trained them together with Livo some combat skills. Got them apartments so they no longer sleep in the streets. They are not yet, at the mafia strike team level but at least they are better than when I found them.
I must say, I had to push them past their breaking points. It was actually an ugly journey where I had to beat up this or the other boy for not learning what I'm teaching or just talking back at me or someone trying to run away with their tail between their legs.
I can't be a leader of a powerful mafia group when I have soft spots for people. Even Livo at some point almost forgot his position. Then, I was more than ready to put him back in his place because now I've learned his weaknesses and I try to correct him. But being a girl, to prove you know more than they do is only by sweeping them off their feet. Literally.
I made them cry, curse and regret agreeing to spending my money. Good lesson here, if you have to spend someone's money, you get to be subject to them no complaints. Otherwise make your own money.
And I am still trying to implement that plan for them to make their own money. So I went searching for a building I'd like where it would be the base of operation instead of meeting in abandoned buildings. I couldn't bring them to my house. Even Livo who is second in command, hasn't been to my house yet.
I know I'll have to trust them more as we spend more time with each other and it'll come to the point where we have sleep overs. Funny I should say that when I told them it was never part of my plans when we first met.
We are the Cross disguised as Poison Ivy where our goods have black poison Ivy leaf branded on them. The recently acquired building under Njiwa Tana has a basement and the ground floor with three other floors. The ground floor and the Two other floor right above it will be a high end restaurant . The top floor will be the penthouse for my men and I.
The basement will be for secret underground fight club where only a few trusted people will know about. Making the place sound proof caused a dent in my pocket. Tonight, the first fight takes place. We only have a few dignitaries interested for now and a few locals too that the boys managed to round up.
I'm not complaining, it's a start. We will be selling our goods in the basement while we still have some guys in the streets. One thing I appreciate about the boys is that they successfully distribute the goods anonymously. This helps us stay invisible. We are not yet ready to have people know about us.
And business is booming in that sector. You would be surprised how many addicts there are out there ready to give an arm and leg for drugs. I gladly take their money and pay my people's bills. I can't start now thinking about ethics. I wasn't just born for that. In a few months, I'll have to have a few cops in my payroll. And if they could help me make friends with those in Nairobi, I'm taking my chances adding those to my payroll too.
I need as much information as I can get on the operations of the Infinity. Nothing like dirty cops, they sure are an asset. I know they have evidences they keep for leverage in case the gang leader turns on them. I'd know because my father asked me to take care of some few just a few months ago. Stupid cops were supposed to take care of something but they demanded more than their pay cuts in the mafia and I had to take care of them.
So I know I'll have to be smart while dealing with the cops. Idiots want to serve two masters at a go. Two conflicting masters.
As I park my black Rav 4 outside the hotel parking lot littered with many Fielders and Harriers along other big and small cars, I smile in approval.
Looks like the restaurant is getting a warm reception too. The manager better bring me some good money because this building and everything in it cost me a fortune. But you got to use money, to make money, am I right?
I step out and walk to the door where some man wearing a black and white guard uniform mans the door. He smiles warmly and holds the door open for me. I return his smile with my tight lipped one.
Livo said everyone else was already here. I came alone so I don't make it so obvious I was with them. I'm ready to make money hosting fighting men and those betting on them. Then the goods too. This is most definitely a good night.
I go to the supplies closet in the same direction as rest rooms which has a secret door with a code known to few. We'll have to make another entrance to the basement. There is no telling when who would be overly curious and finds out what they are not supposed to.
As I get in, I can feel the excitement of the people in here. There are two almost naked men in the makeshift ring bouncing around watching each other menacingly. I hope they know they are here to fight and not cat scratch each other. if my business is going to pick up, it means they have to put up quite the show.
Suddenly the MC clears his throat over the mic getting all of our attention. How rude! He announces that the fights are about to begin.
I go to sit down in my reserved seat when someone gently taps on my shoulder. I quickly turn around ready to punch someone or something but I'm met with an amused looking Livo.
"Easy Boss. I have someone you may be interested to talk to about the Infinity. " He says whispering the last part so only us three hear him.
