Eden

Welcome to Eden

The limitless sky, an open world in which those who explore and those who deny find themselves captured by beauty. The white wings that sprouted from my back slowly lose feathers as I approach a desolate part of the sky. The city lines down below, they haunt my mischievous eyes as I stare down. Down to the last few feathers, I glide low, hoping to hit a building as I fall. A dark cloud appears overhead. A sort of pocket in dimensions appears, similar to the one in the woods. I hear a voice call forward. "Hello, boy." A sudden change in environment straight to my eyes. "Wh…Where am I?" I look around and stare, a man sitting desolate in the cold, ominous checkered floor. A velvet chair arranged below him. "Take a seat." He stares at me, I walk forward and sit in the chair across from him. "Welcome to my [Realm]." His..what? He laughs, "I don't expect you to understand, at least, not yet." The man continues, "I am Thanatos, your blesser. I am known to those in my country as the Death Saint." My eyes widen, the...what?? He smiles, "Here, let me put it into terms you can understand." He continues, "Imagine a place, a pocket in reality, if you must, where matter and ideals can be, and will be shifted to the perception of one." I nod, "Got it? Now, you, Izuya Rotomine, are a 'Blessed' as we call them, you have received a blessing from a god." A 'Blessed'? "Your awakening as a Saint is soon to arrive, and I fear that he will come for you." I turn my head, "Who?" Thanatos smiles, "My dearest father, Erebus. The Saint of Shadows." My face goes blank, "Why would he come for me?" Thanatos puts his head in his hand, "To put it simply, you boy, are a powerful being. You have untapped power." I have..power? "Don't get any ideas, god complex. Why did you take the surname Rotomine, Izuya Suiichiro?" I feel my eyes widen, "How do you know..about that..?" He laughs, "I know a lot more than you think I do." He continues, "Your mother, she was killed when you were a child. Your father and brother as well." I glare to the side, "You know this, Suiichiro." I nod. "Good. Now get ready." Huh, "Ready for wha-" !! The area that originally surrounded me disappeared! I open my eyes all the way and see the sky, as blue as ever. I smell a burning smell all of a sudden…It's getting closer… I move my hand up to my face. Fire graces my fingertips, moving down and down…until…I eventually…find myself…engulfed in..flames… "It burns! It burns! Why does it burn so much!" The feeling disappears…I'm back in the room.. "Have a bad dream?" I look down at my hands, soaked in sweat and I notice a small "x" under my knuckle. "You boy..you are special..I just can't put my finger on it." I turn my head, "How am I special?" He gives me a blank stare, "Well shit kid, use your fucking brain, I don't know either!" He sighs and puts his head in his hand. "Hmm..well, I'll figure it out eventually." He laughs, "Well, have fun in the sky! You'd better get home quick!" He grins, "You going to say something?" I give him the side eye, "Not after those comments." He slaps his knee and laughs hard, "You're a funny kid!" He stops laughing, "No more games, kid, get home now, or he'll find you." He continues, "Here," he reaches down and grabs something in a garb, "Use this if he ever comes." He tosses it at me, I unwrap it from the garb. "A rusty old gun?" The word "Agios" engraved into it. He laughs, and snaps his fingers, "Not so rusty anymore, huh?" The gun starts changing and morphing. It yanks at my hand, transforming into a bracelet. "Keep that bracelet on at all times now, got it?" I stare at him. "How am I supposed to go home? I.." He sighs, "I know." He continues, "You'll be expelled, and your mom will get mad." He smiles "That's why I've already healed the kid, the second it happened, actually." I smile, for the first time in a long time, I'm happy. "You'd best be leaving. See ya kid." Hold on, "Wait, what about-" !! I'm falling from the sky again, but this time, it's real. I feel the dusk sky hit my face as the wings sprout from my back again. Time to face reality again.
