Chapter 23

Asher's POV

I am currently on the training field waiting for Elias so that we can train together he isn't here yet  though I'm sure that idiot is still sleeping.

I've considered going to his house but I don't want to risk waking Winnie. There isn't any point trying to mind link him as long as he is not conscious he won't answer. I was running around the training ground when Sally joined me.

"Hey good morning" she says as we fall in step jogging

"Hey you good morning" I say. "You slept well?"

"Yeah I did"

"It's a surprise seeing you here this morning. As far as I'm concerned you hardly come here" she says.

Of course she would point that out Sally comes here every morning when she can which is most of the time. The thing is that I'll rather train alone in the comfort of my room or the gym than having everybody's eyes feast on me as I train.

"True that, I'm supposed to be training with Elias. But I'm so sure his lazy ass is still sleeping"

She lets out a low chuckle."I..."

"I'm here!" he yells catching the attention.

'Typical Elias" Sally mutters under her breath as the person in question jogs over to us at the side of the field where we had stopped.

I give him my best unimpressed look my arms akimbo.

"Hey...Sally" he says a looking at her.

He looks over at me to give me one of his sheepish smiles until his smile fades "What the hell happened to your arm" he yells

At that moment the cold morning breeze blew and it touched my bare arm. Fuck there weren't supposed to find out about this I mentally face-palmed myself for wearing a tank top and not a top with sleeves. I can still lie my way through it though I think to myself.

"Oh my Goddess! what happened to your arm" Sally screeches from beside me finally noticing what Elias pointed out.

We have gotten quite a number of people's attention but neither of them minded it as they scrutinize my arm and kept asking me questions.

"How about we train now and I promise I will tell you later"

"No way!"

"Spit it out right now" Elias and Sally responded respectively.

"Please guys, I'll rather tell you in private" I say hinting at the people that have stopped training and are now staring openly at us. They seemed to reason what I said because they both agree.

"So how about we jog around?" I say hoping to make them forget about what just happened.

"Yeah sure" Elias gruffly replies while Sally shrugs.

I really don't like putting my friends in things like this. I hate keeping things from them. I just hope they don't get mad when I tell them the truth.

Three hours of vigorous training well for Elias we were done. He wouldn't stop complaining the whole time. We agreed to meet each other back at my office after we had freshened up and had breakfast.

"Just the man we were waiting for" Elias speaks up as I enter the office. A smile breaks out on my face as I close the door behind me to see Elias perched on my seat his feet propped up on my office table. I look at Sally who is standing by the small book shelf a couple of feet away from the desk.

She has her arms crossed and a don't mess with me expression on her face. "Start talking".

Knowing that there was no easy way out of my situation I decided to tell them half the truth.

I released a sigh

"Its nothing serious guys"

"That's not we want to hear from you" Sally replies

"The scar was caused by a silver kn...."

"We're not dumb Asher of course we know that" Elias remarks.

"And judging by the look of that scar it wasn't just silver there was also wolfsbane right" Sally adds

I nod in response to her question

"How did you get that scar?" Elias asks

"I....."

"Oh my Goddess don't tell me you used it on yourself" Elias exclaims cutting me off from my stuttering.

Wait what ?

"That can't be why Elias he's not that dumb" Sally interjects.

"Gee thank you" I mutter

"You're welcome dear' she says sarcastically her arms still crossed over her chest. "Spill how you got that scar"

"Dominic accidentally used it on me" I say whispering so that people outside don't hear.

"What?" they yell simultaneously.

"You're kidding us right" Elias asks

I rub my hands on the back of my neck "I'm not actually"

Sally leaves her spot from the shelf to sit down in one of the plush seats opposite my table "Explain" she says looking me in the eye.

"Like he was practicing how to throw knives in his private gym and I just happened to open the door as he threw one to the bulls eye that was a few meters from the door. So the knife scratched my arm and I ended up with that scar." I explain hoping that they buy it. I glance at Elias to see him deep in thought but Sally squints her eyes at me suspecting-ly.

She gives a frustrated sigh "You do know that we aren't buying your lie right"

"Wait we aren't" Elias speaks up.

"No we aren't going to buy it this time"

I raise my eyebrows at what they said. What do they mean by this time? Have they finally discovered the truth that I have been lying to them all this while?

"I have seen the scars on your back Asher and the little ones that marr your arm. I have seen them for a while now. I don't know what's going on with you but I trust you enough to tell us everything when you're ready" Sally says in a softer tone

"She told me about your scars a while back and I decided to keep an eye on you and we noticed that you got new scars at certain intervals and those times it was either that you were extremely weak or you would feign sickness" Elias explains his feet coming down to the floor.

"We just want you to know that whatever you are going through; remember that you're not alone you will always have us and whenever you're ready to tell us what's going on our ears will always be open to hear you" Sally finishes.

How did I ever get lucky with friends like this? I have never met people so understanding in my life. I wanted to just come out and say everything but I can't tell them not yet. And the scars, I have no idea how Sally saw it but I'm kind of relieved.

A little weight has been lifted off my shoulders thank Goddess I have understanding and patient friends like them.

"I..." I stutter. "I honestly don't know what to say but I know I am goddamn lucky for having friends like you"

"Obviously dude" Elias comments getting to his feet

"Thank...."

"Its okay you don't have to thank us okay" Sally cuts me off.

Before I know it I'm engulfed in a warm group hug in the loving and understanding arms of my friends.

"Okay enough of the sappy moment" Sally says breaking away from the hug

"Yeah I totally agree. Elias please let go of me" I say to the grown man still hugging me.

"Oh I thought you still needed more sugar" he replies breaking away from the hug.

"What?" I confusedly say. He opens his mouth to explain himself but Sally cuts him off

"Don't you dare" she says throwing him a playful glare.

Elias holds up his hands in mock surrender as he puts his hands over his mouth like closing up a zip. He then makes a show of locking his mouth with an imaginary lock and throwing the key away. I roll my eyes at his display.

"Soo.....what do we do now. There isn't any paper work or work for us for that matter" I say keeping my gaze on my table that is not piled with A4 paper.

There hasn't been much work these days everything has been going fine, no rouges or anything at all. And the new pack members blend just fine with everyone so there has not been any fight among anyone.

"Where did you and Lizzie go last night?"Sally asks.

"Huh?" Elias exclaims confused.

"Tough guy over here went somewhere with Lizzie last night during dinner and they didn't come back to the dining hall" Sally explains

"We went to sit at the pool. She was just feeling a little down about not finding her mate yet" I answer Sally's question.

"Ooh"

"Yeah. And you guys aren't making it easier for her"

"How?" they ask together

I give them a look  then make kissy faces at them. "Your public displays of affection"

They immediately sport guilty expressions on their face and I can't help but chuckle at the obvious guilt eating them away.

"Oh we didn't mean for her to feel that way" Sally speaks

"Its okay. She's better now besides there is nothing ice-cream cannot fix"

"Oh. I still feel bad though" She says. Sally might look all badass and stuff but she has the heart of a mother hen. She doesn't really like offending people at all and she's super caring.

"You don't have to worry. She's okay" I try to convince her and steer her clear away from the guilt she was feeling.

"We can make it up to her somehow" Elias suggests

"Good idea"

'Yeah" Sally mutters.

We were heading out of the office for lunch when I met Dominic on my way. I gave my friends a confused look as to why he was even on this floor.

"Alpha Dominic" they greeted simultaneously as he came to a stop just in front of us. He responded to them with a curt nod

"I hope you are both doing fine as well as your families" he inquired. I was taken aback a bit so was Elias and Sally but they recovered from their mini shock to put a smile on their face as they replied to him.

"Will you please give me and my son.."

Hold up what did he just call me. Okay now I'm confused something is definitely going on with.... 'my father'

"..a minute to talk. I assure you I would not waste your time" he concluded smiling at them.

He's smiling what the hell is going on! Did I wake up in some kind of alternate universe or something?

"Its no problem. We will wait for Asher in the dining room" Elias says. Sally and Elias leaving us with a slight bow.

Neither of us said anything till their footsteps were no more heard. I wasn't going to say anything so I crossed my arms over my chest and patiently waited for what he had to say.

"Aren't you going to give me the respect I deserve" was the first thing this waste of space said. A minute flew by before he talked again.

"I see. Well I just wanted to see how my son was doing" he said.

Honestly I was this close to snapping because of the endearment he called me with but I kept calm remembering my Wolf's advice.

He was smiling more than normal like as if he won a fucking lottery and it was giving me creeps and it also made me curious as to what was making him smile.

Wait a minute..

I hope it isn't what I'm thinking. Dammit how didn't that come into my mind first? I'm 90% sure that it has something to do with the Lycans. I can't let him know I'm unto him though.

"You aren't going to say anything are you"

Someone please give this man an Oscar

"I should leave you to your friends then. Have a good day Asher" he said walking right past me. I know I saw that evil glint in his eye and that only fueled my suspicion.

Whatever the hell he is planning I have to know, I thought to myself as I made my way to the dining room.
