~Lilanya~
Wednesday rolled around, and Raz is avoiding me. I couldn't blame him my pacifist brother had told me to not only murder someone, and that person being my soulmate. I would avoid me too if I could.
Siting in the meeting room with Bo, and a few of the other war generals, playing with the pen I was supposed to be using to take notes with, I zoned out, thinking about the possibility that I may have to slaughter my soulmate. There are a few accounts of an individual dying, and their other half blamed themselves for their death. The person left alive either went insane, or killed themselves.
No one has ever sought to kill their other half, our gods Daara and Seros would surely being hell upon the land if someone even tried. Daara is the Goddess of night the original queen of Yami, Seros is the God of dusk the original king of Yami. It is said they were the initial soulmates, before them no one knew what love was. Seros and Daara were inseparable, others feard what they did not understand, so they wanted Seros, and Daara dead. Daara and Seros ran away from the mainland they traveled for months without rest, but never looked back all they had and needed was each other.
Traveling all over they moved to what we now know as Yami, they built their home, but after some time more men and woman ran to Yami, they had heard about Daara and Seros about their love; they turned to them, seeking their soulmates. So, the pair took them in and helped them find their soulmates. People from the mainland became jealous of the devotion the citizens of Yami had for each other. Soon a war broke out. Everyone who had come looking for love went to Daara and Seros waiting for them to decide what to do, Seros decided they must fight, Daara knew they needed a plan of attack, so they brought together the first war council Seros and Daara were at the head of the table making plans to win the war.
Seros lead the army they say you could hear his battle cry all over the land. He fought long and hard till his death. When he was captured by the enemy, they didn't wait long to kill him. They decapitated him and placed it on a spike for all to see. Back at the small city that had just started up, Daara was taking care of the injured men from both sides she was kind, and would turn no one away. They say when Seros was killed Daara screamed in pain. She dropped what she was doing, leaving everyone behind she left to find her love, she continued to where they left his head ignoring all around her she got down on her knees and said the first-ever prayer. While she was on her knees, the king of the mainland came and executed her cutting her head off to place on a spike next to her lover.
Now dead they were together again, but they feard for their people, so they moved simultaneously and with the power, they had killed the monarch of the mainland and drove his forces back, freeing once and for all the nations of Yami. The men formed a statue in the middle of city, and they did as Daara had done for her love. The town's people got down on their knees, and they asked for Daara's kindness and guidance. They asked Seros for his courage and strength. Soon after the oracles came, and a new king was announced, and he built the city up into the kingdom, it is now.
Happy and together now Seros and Daara gave their people one last gift the ability of night and shadows to look after themselves, over time it strengthened to what we are today. We are still human, men from the mainland call us demons. We do not care we are proud because our gifts are from our gods Seros and Daara, they made us this to care for us from those who would wish us dead.
"That concludes the meeting for today men." Bo stood up and bowed to the men leaving the room I only watched from my seat, my fight was in a few days I didn't desire to be proper.
"Raz told me what he asked of you." Bo sat back down and looked at me. " I realize it's horrible, but we need this, if we don't win this time around our nations will end our kingdom will disappear...we both know father isn't the most caring for his people so it is up to us sister."
My multicolored eyes stare up to meet his dark brown ones "If I must murder him brother promise me you will end my existence after I take his."
I recognized the look I was giving him was one our father gave one of pure hatred. Hate for our kingdom that refused to make true peace, loathing for our father who would kill everyone I hold dear if I lose, disregard for my life that I was born into, even scorn for my soulmate. Getting up, I knew I had to keep hold of this hate or I wouldn't be able to murder. In the back of my mind there was a small part of me that was also happy, hopeful it would all be over, and I could leave this place.
I needed to blow off some steam, so the training ground is where I went. Untying the wrapped black dress I had on, it left me in my black shorts and sports bra. Putting the punching gloves on, I let my anger out the only way I knew how, with my fits.
Soon I was a sweating mess that's what I get for not warming up, or breathing right.
"I know we have left a lot to you, my dear, ever since you were picked to fight your father made sure all the hard decisions landed on you." I turned to see my mother standing with a a cloth out to me.
"I had tea brought out for us I thought we could talk." Taking the towel, I sat across from my mother and watched while she poured the tea.
"Did Raz tell you what he feels in his guy?" I had to know if she knew everything.
"Of course he did. He informed me the night you came home that you had found your soulmate, and he explained me what he feared." She had a sip of her tea. "Unfortunately your brother's feelings are never wrong."
"What if I can't do it mother, what if he kills me first?" I kept my head down staring at my tea, I couldn't let her see my fear I'm sure she could hear it in my voice.
Her hand came in view as she held my fist in hers. "You will win Lilanya because that is what we made you into a winner. You will do what is right for your kingdom, and Bolfara will take care of you."
I looked up into her eyes she knew I would not be coming home, she knew Bolfara would kill me if I win or I die in the fights.
