Rain of blood (Renew Rework Repeat)

It took me a while to truly understand what had happened and even now I still don't think I completely get it, after all what happened to me should be impossible. I had found, something that was so surreal that it could only be described as a dream.

Here... everything seemed so weird not a single undead or anything that could take our lives accidentally or intentionally. Here, no matter how odd it seemed survival only consists of providing for yourself and your group, while the safety of the different groups made a priority by the biggest group of them all the government, this structure seemed so very familiar to me.

But this couldn't be.

The world died so long ago leaving only me and her for so long so how can this be?

Shit.

Sirens wailed in the distance and the darkness of the semi-abandoned part of town seem to reach from every corner where only sparse light reached. The wind poked sharp needles threatening to make my skin numb and cold forcing me to pull my tattered coat closer in an attempt to ward off the low temperature. Until finally I found myself before an open barrel flames licking the empty air, warmth radiating from it and from its dancing wisps the low smell of burning plastic and paper lingering around the area.

No rotting smell, no decay, no overwhelming rust or years of collected dust.

This couldn't be real this, just couldn't be.

If I'm back here then where is she?

And if she is how do I even go about find her?

Suddenly a faint but familiar scent wafted through the air and caught my attention it was unmistakable this.. this was hers.

Slowly I raised my head, my eyes following suit. Looking up and across the open space and at the end of the ally there she was. Her radiance, her eyes, blond hair that always seemed to catch the light her caring and mysterious smile. There she was in all her glory except, I was only hallucinating again and I knew it. I saw her die and whatever the reason, whatever happened to cause her to leave me without attacking me, without infecting me i couldn't fathom what it was after-all at in that place when humans die they come back and kill that just how it is.

But with every fiber of her being while she was turning and I was unconscious she left me alive like this. She must have fought so hard not to hurt me but all this time she must've suffered and that was my fault wasn't it. So if she really is here right now, what right do I have to be around her again?

I breathed out and heavy condensation made me aware aware just how long id held my breath without realizing.

I took another breath, and sighed.

I know what I have to do but I don't think I'll like it. Neither will the twins.
