chapter 10
You walked to your room, sighing as you looked through your clothes wanting to look nice. Choosing a simple (f/c) dress and pulling your (h/c) into a long braid. Smiling, constantly happy with the way you look. You began to walk to the ballroom. Loki and the royal family stood in front of a stage that had been set up in the middle of the room. 'Oh no, I hope this isn't THAT envent,' you thought nervously hoping Loki had been joking about having a singing contest. Once the other maidens entered the room Odin stepped closer tapping his spear on the ground to gain everyone's attention.
"As you all know we are nearly a month into the contest. I have seen all of you doing quite well, thus making it this far. But as you are aware nobody is safe from elimination. So I wish you all good luck." Odin tried to be as polite as possible while also glaring daggers at you and Natasha. Loki then stepped forward and smiled at each of the ladies before him, trying to catch your eyes. "My dear maidens today's event is a singing contest. You will be called up to the stage and asked to sing a song that represents how you feel. Then the royal family and myself will give you each a score. A perfect 4 tens means you stay in the contest the lowest score will be eliminated." he smiled softly as your head snapped up and looked at him nervously. Natasha softly rubbed your back soothingly.
The royal family took their seats as Frigga called for Jörð. She walked up onstage and took a deep breath. Soon her soft sweet voice began to sing. Her song was about waiting for love to find her. Her song was short but sweet. You clapped and waited for a score to be given.
Odin- 8
Thor- 8.5
Frigga- 9
Loki- 9
For a total of 34.5 points. She bowed, going to join the other maidens. You were growing more and more nervous.
"Lady (Y/N) it's your turn to grace us with a song." You heard Thor called out to you smiling happily. Standing and walking up on stage you took a deep breath trying to clear your fears from your mind.
"My song is a sweet song. I hope you enjoy it," you spoke softly and began singing. You closed your eyes letting the words come sweetly from your lips.

When you finished your song, slowly you open your (e/c) eyes seeing Loki staring at you in complete awe, even Odin seemed taken aback by your ability. You blushed looking away as you awaited for your scores.

You gasped softly hearing that you had gotten a score of 39, then you returned to your seat as everyone except Sigyn clapped for you.
Loki's pov
(Y/n) walks on stage clearly nervous. "My song is a sweet song. I hope you enjoy it." I try to smile at her for reassurance but she closes her eyes. She takes a deep breath and begins to sing. I can't keep the smile off of my face. I close my eyes. 'She's so amazing… Why does this contest have to continue? I wonder if I can tell Odin I've chosen my bride, my queen, my love.' Once she's finished I open my eyes again.
Normal pov
"Lady Sigyn it's your turn," Thor booms. Sigyn walks onto the stage.
Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take

And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts, I can see your dreams. She begins. She sings very well but not quite as you. Once she's done she receives her score.

Sigyn almost glares at Loki. "30! How could I get a 30," Sigyn complains under her breath. She walks off stage.
"Lady Natasha," Thor booms. Natasha nods and walks onto the stage. Well I won't back down

Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down, Natasha begins. You were surprised at how well she sang. Once she finished she was scored.

She nods and walks off stage. "Hey, look on the bright side you beat Sigyn," you whisper to Nat when she gets to you. She laughs.
"Lady Angrboða it's your turn," Thor announces. She walks on stage. They read you Cinderella. You hoped that one day your prince charming would come rescue you. You like romantic movies. You never will forget the way you felt when Romeo kissed Juliet. She began. She was an average singer not the best you'd ever heard, not the worst.

"Thank you." She walks off stage.
"Lady Zidka go ahead," Thor calls. She walks on stage clearly very nervous. At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk
When she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup
He jokes about his love life
And tells her he's about ready to give up
That's when she says I've been there before
But keep on looking because maybe who your looking for is, She begins. She can't really sing… You were hoping she wouldn't get out, she was really nice.

She nods and walks off with tears in her eyes.
"Lady Dracora it's your turn," Thor booms. She walks on stage. I let it fall, my heart
And as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me,
She sang very well.

She nods and walks off stage.
"Last but not least Lady Asora," Thor calls. She walks on stage and begins singing. Some day my prince will come
Some day I'll find my love
And how thrilling that moment will be
When the prince of my dreams comes to me
He'll whisper, I love you
And steal a kiss or two
Though he's far away. She sang very well.

"Thank you," she calls as she's walking off.
As each maiden left the stage everyone clapped. After a few moments of silence Loki walked backup on stage.
"The results are in. Lady (Y/n) has come in first with as score of 39." he said smiling holding his hand out to escort you on stage. "Next is Lady Dracora with a score of 33, Lady Asora got a score of 32, followed by Lady Natasha with a score of 31, Lady Sigyn with a score of 30, followed by Lady Angrboða who has 28 and finally Lady Zidka with a score of 22. I would like to congratulate each one of you. Unfortunately." he turned to face Zidka, "I am so sorry Lady Zidka but you do have the lowest score, your song choice was wonderful but unfortunately you didn't quite capture our attention. You are dismissed and may return home." he kissed her hand softly before excusing the rest of us.
Zidka had tears in her eyes as she thought she wasn't too terrible, even though dark elves aren't known for their singing. She left soon after as you returned to your room still slightly shaken from singing in front of everyone. Sitting on your bed you pulled your knees to your chest trying to keep the flashbacks from coming into your head, while you hugged yourself a knock sounded at your door.
"C..come in" you said softly, your voice breaking slightly, not really in the mood for any company.
Loki entered the room slowly peeking inside, he looked over at your huddled form.
"Oh (Y/n) are you ok?" he rushed over after closing the door behind him. He pulled you into his arms carefully. "I am so sorry darling, I honestly didn't think this contest through. I knew you didn't like to sing in public and I still went one with the contest." he apologized genuinely as he rubbed your back to help soothe and calm you down.
"It's ok, I wouldn't have sung if I didn't think I could handle it." you replied leaning into his embrace. You sat with him for a while until he suddenly got nervous.
"Well I wanted to make sure you were ok, and I wanted to give you this." Loki has you a box wrapped with a green bow. Opening it you gasped seeing a beautiful golden tiara with emeralds encrusted into the metal.
"It's beautiful Loki, thank you" you smiled and kissed his cheek
" Look at the back darling there's another surprise." he smiled a slight blush crossed his expression, turning the tiara around you to see it is engraved (Y/n) Laufeyson You gasped once again covering your mouth in shock. "What… Why does it say that?" you asked softly almost whispering, Loki smirked and kissed you passionately before he disappeared in a green smoke leaving you to your thoughts. 'Did he just admit his feelings for me?' I asked myself, smiling softly.
Loki's pov
I handed her the box hoping she felt the same way I did. She opens it but doesn't see the inscription. That makes me a little nervous the longer she takes to find it the more nervous I become. "It's beautiful Loki, thank you." She kisses my cheek.
"Look at the back darling, there's another surprise," I say, trying to regain my confidence. I smile and blush slightly as she turns it over in her hands. She gasps and covers her mouth. "What… Why does it say that?" I'm afraid that if I speak my voice will betray my nerves. So I kiss her hoping that would get my point across. I'm too afraid of her reaction so I just teleport away.
