Prologue

Celestial was the current hot VR MMORPG, it had reigned at the top for five years now. With a vast open world and varied class selection and multiple class and world upgrades over the years it was hard for others to catch up.

Michael's heart was steady as a beating drum, he'd performed this type of assassination numerous times. In fact he had even lost interest in his target. Michael only took this job because it was the leader of the #1 guild in the game, so he had figured it would give him some sort of challenge. Unfortunately he was dead wrong.

Yuri, was a man of direct confrontation, it made him a great leader. Yuri inspired his guild mates to greater heights, but unfortunately he was completely clueless about subterfuge. It was well documented throughout the years of game play that Yuri's biggest problem was assassins, however he countered this by wiping out any guild that dared assassinate him. The first time Yuri was assassinated by the #2 guild Starfall. Yuri and his Guild waged a six month long war to wipe them out of the game. They had ignored everything peripheral with the exception of leveling and their war with Starfall. Afterwards Yuri had only been assassinated twice more. Those wars took 3 months and 1 month respectively with the same result total annihilation and disbandment of those guilds.

Michael didn't care about this. His guild had become the #1 assassins guild, they were purely dedicated to assassination, and as such had gained objects in game to cloak their guild. Nobody knew the location of Silent Death, unless they were a member.

Michael waited patiently in Yuri's office at the top of his guild. He had been here for an hour just waiting for their top brass to conclude their meeting they were having. They really are an ambitious guild, going after the Titan God Chronos was their next move. Unfortunately for them, Michael had assassinated Chronos a long time ago. Chronos had dropped the time dial, a legendary accessory that allowed Michael to rewind any point in the game thirty seconds within a 20*20 space. Ever since he got the Chronos' Dial he had never lost a battle to either player, NPC or monster. After his 10,000 straight victory, he earned the title Invincible, the title came with the auto ability of self regeneration, which was when his life points hit zero, he would automatically gain full health and the process would start over.

"So tomorrow will be the day we go after that punk ass God!" Yuri slammed his fist on the desk for emphasis. "We've waited to long, and I think that those rats from Brightwood are plotting the same thing. Zaeda as always you'll be in charge of logistics, we'll need a steady supply of magic potions for the Clerics, as well perfect timing on team switches. Nothing can go wrong. Orunmila, I need the briefing on this battle."

Michael smirked no wonder he had got this job Brightwood were making their move. I guess they have gotten tired of being #2, however it didn't matter both guilds were going to come up empty handed. The gods of the Celestial could only be killed once. Michael also thought Orunmila's name was a little to spot on, figures he'd be the guilds intelligence.

"To be quite honest not much is known about Chronos. Obviously he'll possess a time attack, and be incredibly powerful." Orunmila stated flatly.

"Really that's all you've got, usually you can't shut up about a target." Zaeda blurted out.

"Umm yea Orun what's with this crappy report?" Yuri was confused, usually this was the longest part of these meetings.

"Well to be honest, I haven't been able to find a single player thread, forum or announcement about him. I can only concluded one of two things. One, somebody defeated him already, they got a super rare item and didn't want anybody to find out hence why no info. Two no one has triggered the right conditions to this fight and as such no info." Orun explained briefly.

"Well let's hope its the latter instead of the former. Alright go log off get a good sleep we start at dawn." Yuri commanded.

Michael started getting ready as soon as everyone left the room he'd first lock down the area with assassination order, preventing Yuri from logging off or sending out a request for help. Assassination orders weren't cheap in fact half of the commission he made from this job had gone to its purchase. The exorbitant price was the reason only top assassins used the order. As the door latched Michael activated the order, in addition to a total lock down it also respawned the target three time in the locked down area, effectively allowing you to drop your target 4 levels, at this point in the game 4 levels could take as long a 4 weeks to gain back.

"Who's there? Come out and I won't punish your guild, to much." Yuri chuckled thinking he had the upper hand here.

Michael's first strike was a crowd control, with a twenty-five percent life reduction as well. Yuri immediately used a cancel crowd control skill. Michael didn't give him any time advancing and using crowd control skills every other strike, soon Yuri lay dead on the ground.

Yuri opened his eyes but to his dismay he was still in his office. " You goddamn assassin you used a fucking Assassination order, I'll send everyone in your guild back to level 1, the 4 levels I'm about to lose will be nothing!" Yuri was furious, if Brightwood got to Chronos first they would pass his Burning Blade guild. Yuri got desperate," I'll give you Hermes Dagger of Eternity just don't finish the job!" Yuri yelled.

"I don't think that's going to happen, I've been paid and I never go back on a contract. However if you give me that dagger I'll give you valuable info on the God Chronos. In fact this info will guarantee Burning Blade stays the #1 guild. To sweeten the pot I'll also wipe my character clean, what do you say?" Michael asked.

"What good will the dagger do you if you wipe your character? I don't see the reason behind your actions. Also if you're going to wipe your character why bother finishing the contract? Just take the dagger and go." Yuri stated.

"Well the dagger is the last Relic my guild needs to activate protection of the Elder Gods, two I'm a man of my word so not finishing the contact is not an option. So do we have a deal?"

"Argh, how does your guild already have enough of the legendary relics for that?" Yuri was stunned, his guild only had 2 of the legendary relics, to activate protection of the elder gods, you needed 6 legendary relics. "You need to give me the info first also I want to know your real name so I can confirm you wiped your account once you do." Yuri pouted, he knew this assassin had him dead to rights and all he could do was at least get that info.

"Alright I'm Marcus Smith, you might have heard of me or you might not, it doesn't really matter as I'll send you the video of me wiping this account so you can brag to all your sycophants." Michael laughed.

"Shit the #1 assassin in the game, why would you wipe your account? No it doesn't matter, I agree we have a deal." Yuri couldn't believe his luck, he wouldn't be able to touch Silent Death, but he could take down there leader.

" Wise choice, alright well, Chronos is already dead I killed him." Michael stated. "Going after him is a ghost chase, and I didn't announce it because the relic was perfect for assassination classes. When I Had killed him I was to low level to protect what I had so I just kept it a secret."

Yuri smiled he knew that Michael was right, he may lose 4 levels here but now they could focus on a different god to take down, while Brightwood would probably chase Chronos for a month or longer before they figured it out. Brightwood probably had a spy in Burning Blade but it didn't matter. Burning Blade would officially call off the Chronos hunt because of loss of levels of their leader due to assassination, this is exactly what Brightwood would expect.

"Alright lets get this over with then." Yuri was excited yea he was going to lose levels but he would gain a month of time on his competition while also getting rid of the best assassin in the game, he was ecstatic. Michael didn't care he was done with this game maybe even this class he was bored and the game had become too easy it was time to move on.
