"Talk about annoying, all the rooms were filled." I said, walking through the streets with Alice.
"What'd you expect? With traveling season going on most of the rooms would be in use." Alice said.
I gave her an annoyed look and sighed. I wish she would have told me that sooner. I rolled my eyes and continued walking through the streets. Even though it was late at night there was still a large amount of people out in the streets.
The area around us seemed to change almost instantly. I felt a shiver down my spine and looked around. Was Kurt using his power nearby? Footsteps suddenly came behind us causing both Alice and I to turn around. A man wearing a suit was walking towards us. He wore glasses but thanks to the light shining on him we couldn't see his eyes.
"Lord Akio has requested me to invite people who seem interesting to his palace. You two definitely seem interesting so I bet he'd be happy if you two were to come." He said, bowing before us.
The atmosphere suddenly got less tense. Though this whole scenario was still pretty weird. I guess the party everyone was talking about was the one this Akio guy was holding.
"So I take it Akio's been doing well? How have you been though, Goro?" Alice asked.
The man suddenly raised his head and looked at Alice.
"I'm so sorry that I didn't notice you sooner, please forgive me." Goro said, bowing his head again.
Alice shook her head, "don't worry about it. Anyway, I think I'll take you up on your offer."
Goro's face was filled with relief as he raised his head again. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a card. He gave us a smile before throwing the card. The card suddenly stopped in midair and grew larger. At this time I noticed a lot of people were staring at us.
"The portal is now ready to be entered." Goro said.
I looked back at the card and saw that it was now a large glowing door. Alice grabbed onto the handle and opened it up revealing a bright white light. I walked over to the door so I could observe it but Alice pushed me into it.
Before I knew it, we were inside of a large room crowded with adventurers. I turned around the see if the portal was still there but was bummed to see that it had vanished.
'I wish Alice would have asked me if I wanted to attend this party.' I thought to myself. Though to be honest I would have said yes anyway.
"So who exactly is this Akio guy you and Goro kept talking about?" I asked.
"Sorry that I didn't fill you in on anything. Goro is a friend of mine. Since our families are friends we spent a decent amount of time together." Alice explained.
The room suddenly went dark and the sound of talking and laughter stopped. One light turned on and revealed someone standing at the top of the stairs. If I had to take a guess I'd say that's Akio.
