"We should be safe here. We're far enough away so they won't be able to catch our scent. We just have to hide ourselves behind a bush." Bea said, pointing towards a bush that was near the edge of the hill we were on.
The three of us quickly jumped into the bush and looked at the lair from afar. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed by its looks. With how Bea had explained it to us on our way here, I was expecting something a lot more scary.
"So this is what a monster lair looks like? Not gonna lie, I was expecting it to look a lot scarier." I said with a disappointed sigh.
"The inside is the scary part of their lair. It's pitch black and is a maze on the inside." Bea explained with an anxious look on her face.
"So we'll be fine then since John can create flames to make light and I can use the cave's darkness as a weapon. Basically, our abilities negate any advantage the monsters might have." Steven said with a grin.
Steven and I jumped out from the bush and slid down the hill towards the lair. The two of us drew our weapons as we closed in on the entrance. The sound of growling and roars could be heard deeper within the cave, causing the two of us to put up our guard.
"Leave the monster hunting to us, Bea! You just keep yourself hidden!" I shouted, slicing a monster in two right as it jumped out from the cave.
I raised my right arm and used my pointing finger to aim towards the inside of the cave, firing tiny fireballs to light up the interior. With the interior of the cave being lit up, it was revealed just how many monsters were actually inside the cave.
"That's way more than I was expecting." Steven said, readying his spear.
"Is that going to be a problem?" I asked.
Steven smiled and shook his head, "not at all."
A second monster jumped out from the cave and charged towards Steven. Steven quickly sidestepped the monster and slashed the left side of the monster. The monster let out a roar but was cut off when I crashed my knee into the side of its head, sending it flying towards the other monsters inside the cave.
"You ready to do this?" I asked.
"Ready when you are." Steven responded.
The two of us nodded at each other before looking back at where Bea was hiding. Her tiny head was poking out through the bush and I could just barely make out a worried look. Steven and I smiled at each other before giving Bea a thumbs up.
"It'll be in and out. Twenty minutes at most!" I shouted to Bea, turning towards the lair entrance.
