Beyond Earth

"Rise and shine, lovebirds!" came a loud voice, startling me awake and I immediately raised my hand to shield my eyes from the sunlight streaming in from the windows that had their curtains pulled back before I made out the person in front of me.

Carina was standing at the foot of the bed and my heart jumped as I sat upright when I saw her holding a rifle. I placed a hand on my chest as it rose and fell with rapid breaths and Daniel shifted next to me, sitting up too. Hae In and Clareta were standing next to her with rifles slung over their shoulders and I began to wonder what the hell was going on.

"What the hell?" we muttered in unison and Clareta pulled the duvet covering our legs off the bed. "What's going on?" I asked.

"Get up," she stated. "You slept through breakfast. It's twelve o'clock, time for lunch."
