Chapter 125

Rain poured down over the town with a roar. The steady downpour hit the roof and windows like gravity had been turned up a notch while the wind howled, cried and bayed like a wolf into the night. The sound of emptiness was occasionally disrupted by the loud gregarious boom of thunder after lightning bolts split the sky.

Somehow it calmed me, seeing the night sky so dark and the rain trickle down the window which I stood next to. Thunder rolled across the sky with a cracking boom that was violent to the ears and I instantly ducked. I knew it was silly but I couldn't help it. I stood straight once again before walking away from the window and to the centre table where one plastic bag containing food lay on next to the lamp that illuminated the room.

I pulled out two canned peaches, two bottles of water and my can opener before using the can opener to open the cans.
