Ray winced at her tone and turned toward her with a sheepish smile. She was crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow at him as if she was about to scold five years old. And in some ways she kind of was…


" well, Austin is practically family and he would have been offended if I didn't give him the heads up about this before it reached him on a case file…" Ray told her with an awkward smile


"What about my heads up? I'm a criminal defense attorney, Ray. We usually don't mesh well with cops and you bring the chief of homicide division to be acquainted with me?"


"To be honest I didn't think about it that way at all. It completely slipped my mind. I wasn't the one who told him about your profession, someone in the family probably blabbed about it…"


"Thanks to that someone, now the chief of the homicide investigation division owes me a favor…" Leila sighed as she leaned back on her pillow.
