A Talk With Ais II

"So you wore yourself down to the point even Nox's medicine stopped working on you, then proceeded to use valuable life saving medicine to undo all that accumulated, stress, exhaustion and damage, just so you could repeat the process again." Riveria finished Ais' sentence for her.

Honestly, en Nox found the high elfess scary right now. Never had he seen her so irate before and if he was to be honest, he was pretty mad too

Ais was about to get the dressing down of a lifetime . . .

Honestly, Nox hd never seen an aggressive Riveria before. At most, she would sport this cold, disciplinarian ice face that scared everyone under her authority and even those outside of it for the most parts.

After putting said face, on, she slowly and firmly explained what was wrong and throwing in a few lines and looks of disappointment and exasperation that would make anyone curl up into a ball out of guilt and regret ever being born into the world.

This time however, the high elfess didn't even say anything, she just glared at Ais with a fulminating stare that threatened to set the poor girl on fire from sheer shame over what she had done.

Underneath that rage, there was a lot of worry for her mental state but Riveria knew how Ais worked. Lecturing her about how something was bad or dangerous for her never had any discernible result.

The one thing that made Ais slow down was the guilt over inconveniencing those she cared for. Over her time in the Loki Familia, the only reason Ais had cut down on her near suicidal, or perhaps outright suicidal, training routine, was simply due to how worried Riveria became.

Seeing the tired, exasperated, worried and angry high elfess made her tone down to the point her training was just somewhat masochistic instead of suicidal, great progress no doubt.

However, with Nox now in the mix and considering Ais' latest stunt, Riveria had grasped a surefire way to perhaps finally get the reckless girl under control.

It did not take much for anyone to realize Ais cared for Nox's immensely, due to some of her more childish and airheaded traits, the exact nature of such emotions was difficult to understand but the fact that they were there was plenty obvious.

As such, the guilt she would feel from inconveniencing him would be that much stronger, maybe enough to stop her recklessness. Yes, it would be guilt tripping someone into something they did not wish to do but it was quite clearly for her own sake.

Regardless of what Ais herself thought, her self abusive training took a toll on her psyche and it was only a matter of time before hidden cracks began showing.

"Ais . . . Panacea is an emergency last resort. Mere drops of it were enough for Nox to draw in countless, kings, queens and gods, willing to fork over massive amounts of riches and heavy favours just to get some." Riveria started in a very calm and low tone.

"You would literally have to slave away for decades to repay what you have already spent. Now, Nox made it available to all of us and told us not to hesitate in its use due to his caring nature for those who make it into our little group." She continued, Ais already shrinking down further.

"What you have been doing, is taking advantage of his kindness and needlessly using one of the most precious things in the entire world, willy nilly just for your training." With this conclusion, Riveria was already making Ais tear up.

Though she felt bad for doing it, she believed it necessary and Nox shared her opinion though he doubted he could steel himself to do it to someone he cared for, like Ais.

She had actually sat on the floor, cradling her legs with tears in her eyes and the realization of what she had done hit her.

Now, Nox was rich, stupid rich. So much so that even if he suddenly stopped making money, he would never be able to spend all he already made in a normal human lifespan.

Strictly speaking, What Ais did, didn't even make a dent. When he was injured out his his desperation fueled use of his most powerful abilities, Nox had been forced to spend whole tanks of Panacea, drastically exhausting his reserves.

Compared to that, what Ais did was nothing too serious. The key difference however, was reasoning. Panacea was not easy to make and, even if he had the process perfected, Nox could not make large amounts without spending a massive amount of resources and some time, specially since no one other than himself came even close to fulfilling the requirements to make it.

He had certainly spent huge amounts of it but his life was in danger and he had gotten injured to that point due to being pushed to use more power than he could handle by a powerful enemy from which there was no escape.

On the other hand, Ais, used Panacea for convenience, to speed up her training and let her keep going on and on without any rest required.

The cycle of destruction caused by self busing levels of training and healing through powerful medicine without taking any breaks strained her body to the limit to the point regular medicine stopped working as her body could not handle its potency any more.

Panacea however, being as miraculous as it was, could restore her body and mind to peak condition, resetting the cycle and allowing Ais to do it all over again for massive progress in her training as her Falna converted the horrible experience into power.

Basically, Panacea was far to precious and hard to make, with even Nox who never skimped on suicidal training methods, electing to only use it as an emergency life saving measure and definitely not as a training shortcut.

Alas, seeing Ais in her current state, Riveria and Nox just looked at each other with a sigh before hugging Ais in between the two of them, like parents reassuring their child that they still loved them after a harsh scolding . . .
