The Matter of Freya XI

"As promised, here I am, seconds after you've signed. Aren't you all going to thank me for my instant response?" Nox questioned with a smirk.

"Y-You!? How!?" Allen was the first to speak, his sheer anger bringing out of his shock.

Well, Ottar had also recovered, he was simply analyzing the situation and what he presumed was one of Nox's spells or the effect of one of his crafted magic items.

"My means are endless little cat. Bending spacetime to move from the Twilight Manor to here is but child's play for me." He arrogantly declared, eliciting shock and hisses from the the Freya Familia executives who had a more hardline attitude towards him.

Of course, he was heavily exaggerating. His Translocation, the name his gave to his spell, not only cost a huge amount of Mind, meaning that even with his abnormally high reserves, he could only cast it a few times before running dry, it also had other severe drawbacks he had yet to fix.

First, it could only be used by himself, he tried to start the spell when carrying a test subject but not only was he twisted and ripped apart by the bending space, his presence inside the spacetime bubble that surrounded Nox when he used his spell destabilized it, nearly killing Nox with an Ignis Fatuus, the backlash when a spell failed to be properly activated.

Another problem was, that unlike his spatial artifacts that could now open stable gates for a short period of time regardless of distance, his Translocation's Mind consumption shot up drastically once he went further than 10 km.

The biggest issue however, was the Nox felt a difference when he used it in the dungeon. He had previously worried that the Dungeon would interfere with his Gate Artifacts, but it didn't happen.

As it turned out however, the Gate method could just smother those differences to the point they did not matter to much.

Alas, Translocation's cost on the other hand, drastically increased within the confines of the Dungeon, not only that, it got progressively worse the further down he went, making the spell pretty much useless in the Deep Floors due to its overwhelming Mind consumption.

Still, Nox was confident he would be able to improve upon it with time and even now, if it was just to show off and intimidate adventurers on the World's surface, Translocation was plenty usefull already.

Back to the matter at hand though, Nox decided to move things along since he already achieved his desired effect.

"So, shall I meet your goddess or what?" He inquired.

Thinking that this was indeed the most critical matter, Ottar, before anyone else could offer any resistance or objection, gestured to Nox as he spoke.

"This way."

WIth a seemingly careless gait, Nox leisurely followed Ottar who was not even the slightest bit fooled.

'Although he seems careless, his every step his firm despite first appearances, his center of balance is not even slightly stirring and even his senses seem sharp.' The boaz though as he internally nodded with appreciation.

After all, he was one who appreciated those who seeked strength and were unafraid of hardship. Nox whose strength was not just born out of raw talent but harsh, yet precise and calculated training, was of course, someone to be respected in Ottar's mind.

"If you would not mind, after this matter is solved, would you indulge me with a spar?" Ottar honestly inquired with some anticipation that was only shown through a hidden glint in his eyes.

"Sure, we'll both wear one of my life saving artifacts, whoever manages to "kill" the the other party, in other words, whoever forces the activation of the other's artifact will be the victor." Nox suggested.

Ottar wished to accept but he could not be so wasteful with the single life saving artifact his familia had purchased from Nox. After all, with the way things were progressing, it was doubtful he would be willing to sell them more of them, regardless of their intent to pay.

Nox did not miss this however, and moved to assure him.

"Don't worry King, I'll provide both of the artifacts, I'm quite interested to match up with you as well."

"If that's the case, then it could not be better." Ottar curtly responded and they finished their walk to Freya's room in silence.

"You can enter alone, Freya-sama is not really reacting to knocks so you can just let yourself in. I shall be waiting here in case there is anything needed." The boaz explained before gesturing to Nox for him to enter.

Nox took a deep breath as he checked the situation inside with his senses, his information processing was many times faster than a normal individual's so he was capable of doing this, ponder on the results of his observation and make a decision in what would feel like a mere instant for others.

Ottar's mention that Freya was not even reacting when they knocked on her door sent all kinds of alarms going off in Nox's head, making wonder if the situation was in fact worse than he predicted and whether he would have a tough time pulling the crazy goddess off the brink.

As his senses spread, Nox saw a room that looked perfectly normal.

He was half expecting for it to look like a hurricane had passed through and see Freya going wild and mad but he was wrong.

It was perfectly clean and tidy and as for Freya . . . Well . . .

The goddess of beauty was most certainly in an interesting state.
