Episode 5 - The Missing

The Tardis starts to materialise in the front garden of the Redburn House. The trees in the nearby area start to sway as the wind picks up, until the Tardis lands.

Maya and Greg exit The Tardis, and they look at their house. Maya smiles "is it good to be home" Greg smiles at her "yes it is" Maya laughs as The Doctor walks out of the Tardis "right, I'll come to pick you up in three days, yeah?" Maya smiles "that sounds great" The Doctor smiles "see you".

The Doctor watches Maya and Greg walk into their home, and as The Doctor goes to walk into the Tardis, he then looks to the left, at a tree, where he sees a sign on it.

The Doctor walks over to the three where he sees a 'Missing Persons' sign. The Doctor looks at it with sadness in his eyes. But as he turns around, he sees another tree with a sign, but of a different person, The Doctor then looks at it curiously.

The Doctor then turns around and he sees another tree with a different person on. The Doctor looks at the bottom of the sign where it says 'any information, please contact Detective Kathy Yates'. The Doctor looks at the name and he then nods "Kathy Yates, The Doctor's on the case".

Kathy steps onto a crunch leaf as she walks into a forest with The Doctor. Kathy goes "look, we've searched this place a dozen times, you're not going to find anything different than what we have" The Doctor looks around and he goes "so, the missing people leave their vehicles on the side of the road, and you find footprints that lead into the forest, there has to be something, people just don't disappear with no reason" Kathy stares at him "can I see your badge again?" The Doctor goes "not important, what's important is this". Kathy watches The Doctor walking over to a tree. Kathy smirks "what? A tree?" The Doctor goes "look at the wood, it's burnt, and it's warm" Kathy then walks over to the tree and she touches it "okay, weird? But what is it?" The Doctor looks around, feeling uneasy and he goes "I don't know, but do you ever have the feeling-" Kathy then interrupts him "that we're being watched? All the time" The Doctor smiles at her "I like you, Kathy Yates, I like someone with a bit of power" Kathy stares at him "you haven't seen what kind of power I have" The Doctor smiles"and I love a sense of humour" Kathy continues to stare at him "are you trying to flirt with me?" The Doctor starts to walk off "don't be disgusting".

Kathy watches as The Doctor walks into the forest and Kathy goes "where are you going? Don't go and get lost, I'd rather not be putting up another face as missing" The Doctor then goes "don't worry, I'm not going too far" Kathy stands there watching him walk off.

Suddenly, Kathy turns around as she hears something running behind her. Kathy then goes "Doctor?" The Doctor then looks at her "yeah?" Kathy goes "did you hear that?" The Doctor walks over to her "what was it?" Kathy then shakes her head "probably nothing".

Continuing to walk through the forest, birds chirp in the sky, and The Doctor pulls his Sonic Screwdriver out, scanning around the forest, and reading it for any data. The Doctor then sighs.

Kathy looks over at him "what is that device?" The Doctor smiles "just a thing, it helps me navigate" Kathy nods "so, which way?" The Doctor goes "I don't know" Kathy stares at him "I thought it helped you to navigate?" The Doctor nods "it does, but I can't pick anything up".

Kathy goes "well, it's a bit rubbish then" The Doctor looks at him "oi! This is actually very-".

Suddenly, there's a low evil growl from behind them. The Doctor and Kathy turn around, and Kathy and The Doctor stare at a creature that's almost eight-foot-tall. Kathy then goes "what is that?" The Doctor takes Kathy's hand and he says "run!". The Doctor and Kathy run.

(Commercial Break)

Running through the forest together, the growling is heard coming from behind.

The Doctor then stops as he sees smoking coming from another direction. Kathy then grabs his hand "RUN!". The Doctor then continues to run, until a cabin is seen in the distance. Kathy smiles "in here!". Kathy and The Doctor run up a set of stairs, and they run into the cabin.

As Kathy shuts the door, the smell of faeces hits them. The Doctor points his sonic as a torch and he goes "blimey" Kathy covers her nose and she says "that is disgusting" The Doctor nods "well, it means something's living in here if they're doing their business in here" Kathy goes "what was that thing outside?" The Doctor and Kathy walk into a room and The Doctor shakes his head "not entirely sure just yet, got a small hunch, but I need more stuff" Kathy looks into the room, which is empty and she says "what stuff?" The Doctor and Kathy walk out of the room and he goes "you know, just stuff-". The Doctor and Kathy then walk into another room, where they see hundreds of bones all over the floor. Kathy then stares in shock "is that stuff?" The Doctor nods.

Kathy stands writing on a small notepad, as The Doctor kneels beside the bones. The Doctor goes "what do you hope to achieve with those notes?" Kathy goes "this is a crime scene, these bones might link something to the missing people" The Doctor looks at the bones and he goes "actually, I think we just found the missing people" Kathy then sees The Doctor pick up a wallet, with a face of one of the missing people. Kathy face drops into shock "what did this to them?" The Doctor goes "well, I'd blame that creature outside, wouldn't you?" Kathy goes "but it ate them...inside here?" The Doctor nods "all of them, and it seems to use the toilet in here too" Kathy nods at him until the two of them then stare at each other. The Doctor then goes "we'd better get outta here, like right now" Kathy nods at him "I second that, please can we go".

The two of them run out of the cabin together and Kathy goes "where do you think it is?" The Doctor goes "maybe looking for its next meal" Kathy nods "so we should get back to the car?" The Doctor shakes his head "we'd never make it, it knows we're here" Kathy looks at him "what do we do then?" The Doctor looks over at the smoke in the distance and he points at it "well, I wanna see what's causing that" Kathy nods at him "alright, you first though" The Doctor nods.

(Commercial Break)

A massive metal spaceship in the shape of a circle lays in the middle of the forest, smoke pours out of a window that has smashed. A big hatch is at the top of the spaceship, but it's open.

The Doctor and Kathy then see the spaceship and Kathy then stares in shock.

The Doctor runs over to it smiling "look at you! You are a beauty!" Kathy then goes "that...that's not a plane!" The Doctor looks at her "well, obviously not! It's a spaceship, a beautiful one" Kathy nods "a spaceship in the middle of the forest?" The Doctor smiles at her "oh yes!" The Doctor then goes "actually, let me have a look inside, it could help tell me where it's from".

A moment later, The Doctor climbs into the spaceship, with Kathy following him behind.

The two of them walk down a dark corridor until reaching the cockpit.

The Doctor sits in the driver's seat and he looks at some controls. Kathy goes "think it still works?" The Doctor shakes his head "no, otherwise, that thing wouldn't still be here" Kathy looks at The Doctor "you think that thing is an alien?" The Doctor laughs "is that so hard to believe?" Kathy then shakes her head "no, not after the last few years, I mean those Cybermen, The Whisperers, all those things that happened, it's crazy" The Doctor smiles at her. Kathy goes "you're not a detective, are you?" The Doctor shakes his head "I'm a traveller" Kathy nods "an alien?" The Doctor smiles "yep" Kathy laughs "wow" The Doctor smiles until the computer then switches on and The Doctor then goes "now we're in business" Kathy walks up, closer to him and she says "so, what do you see?" The Doctor sits there reading what the computer says and he nods "well, it makes sense" Kathy nods "so?" The Doctor goes "this ship is from a place called E-Space, or Exo-Space, some even call it the Exo-Space-Time Continuum. It's a pocket universe, it's only got a few planets in...Alzarius, Terradon, Ballustra, Isenfel, and Apollyon...but this creature is from Shapeer...it's called a Praque, they're the ancestors to the Tharil, and The Praque's they are carnivores, even cannibals, anything with meat on its bone, it could strip it all, and devour every last piece of meat" Kathy stares at him "so, it's dangerous?" The Doctor sighs "yeah, and I don't think this is one of those times where I can offer it a way to live because these creatures don't understand peace, it just wants to eat, and eat, forever, until it dies".

(Commercial Break)

Inside the spaceship, Kathy then goes "so, what do we do?" The Doctor stares at her until a loud growl is heard from behind them, and as they turn around, The Praque is stood in the corridor staring at them, it's face is like a wolf, it's eight-foot-tall and covered in black fur, but with lion-like ears. The Doctor pulls Kathy behind him as The Doctor stands inside the spaceship, The Doctor then goes "listen to me, I know what you are, and I know where you're from, you're not on the right planet, in fact...you've found a planet full of food, I get why you like it here, but you can't be here, you've killed innocent people, and I understand it's what you do, so I will offer you this one chance, take it or don't, but whatever you choose, I will respect...let me take you back to your home, where you can feed on animals back on your own planet, if you decide to stay here, I will have no choice but to stop you" Kathy then looks at The Praque, who's eyes stare at The Doctor, looking him up and then down. The Doctor then goes "your ancestors could talk, are you still able too?" The Praque slightly tilts it's head until it then lets out an extremely loud roar.

Kathy then goes "I think...that was a no" The Doctor nods "yep, I got that, thanks-".

The Praque then starts to run down the corridor, towards them.

The Doctor then goes "Kathy, when I say...you run, and you get out of the ship, got it?" Kathy goes "what?" The Doctor pulls his Sonic Screwdriver out and he hands it to Kathy "when you get outside, press the button twice, and then aim it at the spaceship, got it?" Kathy takes the sonic and she nods "why?" The Doctor watches as The Praque enters the cockpit, it smashes through the door, causing sparks to fly as it hits into some wiring. Kathy smiles "there's still electricity".

The Doctor then runs to the side of the cockpit "OI! OVER HERE" The Praque takes a step towards The Doctor, and he growls at him. Kathy screams "DOCTOR!". The Doctor then looks at her and he goes "Kathy, just do as I say, and we'll both be okay! Alright? Get ready".

Kathy watches as The Praque steps away from the door to the corridor and The Doctor nods at her. Kathy then sprints by The Praque, and down the corridor, towards the exit. The Praque growls but The Doctor looks at it "HEY! HEY! OVER HERE! LOOK AT ME!" The Praque stares at The Doctor. The Doctor then goes "just remember, I gave you a choice, this is your own fault". The Doctor then makes a run, and he runs by him. The Praque stands there and starts to roar loudly.

Outside, Kathy stands outside and she aims the sonic at the spaceship. She then puts her finger onto the button as The Doctor then jumps out and he shouts "PRESS THE BUTTON!".

Kathy then presses the button twice, and as The Doctor jumps off of the ship, the ship then explodes, debris flies everywhere and a massive flame engulfs the entire spaceship.

(Commercial Break)

The Doctor sits in the passenger seat of a car as Kathy sits driving the car. Kathy then goes "the officers will sort the rest out, we closed the case, found the bodies, I can't tell them a Praque from the Echo-Space killed them but-" The Doctor then goes "Exo-Space" Kathy nods "exactly!".

Later on, Kathy stops the car near a park, Kathy then turns and she looks at The Doctor "Doctor, who are you...a-and really, I mean it" The Doctor stares at her "just call me The Doctor, I'm a traveller, I travel in time and space, I find things or people that need my help, and I try and do what I can to save them, I'm two thousand, three hundred and six years old, I come from a planet called Gallifrey" Kathy stares at him as The Doctor then gets out. Kathy then gets out too.

Kathy goes "you sure you're okay with being dropped off here?" The Doctor then looks at her "follow me" Kathy stares at him and she follows him into the park, and towards the Tardis.

The Doctor then opens the Tardis door and Kathy walks in. The blue dazzling lights inside shine in her eyes and she smiles "oh my god, it's...it's...it's bigger on the inside" The Doctor laughs.

Kathy then looks at The Doctor "this is your ship?" The Doctor nods at her "it is" Kathy smiles "why are you showing me this?" The Doctor goes "I travel with two other people, my friends, and today, what we did as a team, it was incredible, and I was wondering if you maybe wanted to join us" Kathy smiles at him and she then says "no" The Doctor's face drops "oh, okay" Kathy laughs "I'd love too, but I can't, I just can't, Doctor, today you opened my eyes, do you realise how many cases are back at the station that was just classed as unsolved because nobody could figure it out? I could probably pick out a few cases linked to aliens" The Doctor laughs at her "yeah you could, well Kathy Yates, it has been a pleasure" Kathy smiles "yes it has, Doctor".

The Doctor then opens his arms up, and Kathy leans in, and the two of them hug each other.

Kathy then goes "goodbye, Doctor" The Doctor waves "goodbye, Kathy Yates". Kathy walks outside of the Tardis, and as she turns around, the Tardis starts to dematerialise, and she stands there laughing as her hair blows in the wind. Kathy shakes her head "what an incredible man".

The Doctor flicks a lever, and the sound of the Tardis landing is heard. The Doctor stands at the console as Maya and Greg then enter the Tardis. The Doctor smiles "hey, how were your three days off?" Maya then glares at The Doctor, as does Greg. The Doctor stares at the two of them "what?" Maya then walks up to him "we said three days!" The Doctor then nods at them nervously "yeah?" Greg goes "it's been a year and a half" The Doctor then takes a deep breath "oh, whoops" Maya and Greg both stand there glaring at The Doctor, not happy with him.

Next Time:

Sirens blare off inside of a ship, sparks are flying inside, and explosions are heard going off.

The Creature Leader stands in the control room as the spaceship is constantly still pushing out smoke from the engines. The spaceship floats through space, and towards a planet.

Back in the room, The Doctor looks at the door and he points his sonic and opens the door.

As The Doctor, Maya and Greg walk inside, they walk into the centre of the room, until realising many of the humanoid creatures with lizard-like heads are standing around the edge of the room trying to control the ship.

Inside the control room, red light lights light up in the entire spaceship as sirens blare off again loudly.

The Doctor turns around and he looks at The Creature Leader, who aims a gun at The Doctor. The Doctor then sighs at him.

The Creature Leader says "we don't promise, we kill and we take" The Doctor stares at him.

Next Time - Rescue Operation - The Doctor receives a distress call, leaving him and his friends to explore a crashing ship, trying to find where the distress call is coming from. The Doctor has to face a race called The Garders. Maya and Greg meet a familiar face, a friend of The Doctor.
