Chapter 4

As they approached the door, the door opened automatically. There was a big hallway in front of door and two rooms on each side. The Nurses hovered until they reached the doors to both rooms and they entered the room on the right. It was a lavish and spacious bedroom.

There was a king-sized bed laying in the room. The wall on the front of the room was purely made of glass. There were bathroom and Walk-in-closet on left side of the room adjacent to the Stateroom. In the center of left wall, a beautiful dressing table was placed with a chair in front of it. The table was empty. On left side of the bed there was a beautiful modern kitchen. The room had blue and red themes all around. One side wall of the kitchen was also made of glass. The room had exotic wooden floors.

There was a nightstand on both sides of the bed. Each had multiple drawers and beautiful lamps were placed on them. On right table, an old-fashioned analogue alarm clock was placed. The clock had inscribed "To my Best Friend. Sara." On its face. The Nurses put Daniel in bed and started procedure for intravenous glucose transfusion and other necessary medicine and necessary food supplements.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Ugh." Daniel moaned and opened his eyes to a spectacular view of vast and distant sky filled with brightest of stars. The view for a moment made him forget everything.

"Administrator has woken up" Beta 2's voice brought him to reality. He looked at Beta 2 standing at his right and sat up.

"I am alive." There was a tinge of happiness and surprise in his voice.

"I AM ALIVE. Oh Ho ho Ho. I AM ALIVE." He smiled from ear to ear. He jumped out of bed and hugged Beta 2.

"I made it. Go screw yourself! Black hole. Hahahahahaha." He laughed uncontrollably. He was over the moon.

"Mr. Administrator, please stand straight and stay as much still as you can." Beta 1 spoke from other side. Cleaner 1 was also parked there. Cleaner 2 was not there.

"They are robots after all." He thought. "They wouldn't know the importance of being alive and escaping the tragedy that we almost hit."

He stood up straight and still. Both Nurse robots started circling around him and flashed the bright light on him as they did earlier. They moved the light, from his feet till his head and back multiple times, while encompassing him. After a minute or so, they stopped.

"You are in perfect condition, Mr. Administrator. Take care of your health. We will meet on scheduled Checkup date soon." Empty words, he snarked.

"Your health records have been updated, Mr. Administrator." Dana informed

"May we leave now, or you want us to stay." Beta 1 continued without taking influence from his snarking.

"Sure. You can leave. Thank you." All of a sudden they made him sad.

"Thank you, sir, Take care."

It took some time for Daniel to settle down. He sat on his easy chair placed in front of Large mirror and enjoyed the view for a while.

Now that he had come out of his happy zone. He started feeling down. He lived. He did it. But he was still lone. He was still the same. The thoughts engulfed him for a while and his moved swung from being "over the moon" happy, by 180 degrees to "Why am I live?" sort of sadness and depression. Meanwhile Nurse robots left the room.

He sat there until Dana interrupted his thought cycle:

"Administrator! Would you like me to brief you on current situation?"

"No Dana! Let's do that after I freshen up. Also, I am hungry."

"What would you like to eat sir?"

"First prepare a bath for me and about meal; I would like a well-done beef tenderloin steak, with Bar B.Q sauce and mashed potatoes." He responded with contemplative pauses.

"Anything for starter sir?

"Yeah. One Spicy seafood cream soup." He was still sitting in his chair.

"Any wine sir?"

"Arrange oldest red wine from the cellar." Today is celebration; he thought

"Would you like some dessert?"

"Yes. Some chocolate fudge cake." Chocolate was his favorite.

"What is this life." He sighed. He was suddenly very emotional. His eyes were getting red. He was almost at his breaking point.

"I cannot believe that I am missing them. The most unwelcoming place and people for me ever." He sighed again.

"Sir, your bath is ready." Dana brought him back again.

He got up and walked towards the bathroom. He took a long bath. He got out of bath, only when Dana informed him that his Meal was ready. He was nude. His eyes were all puffy and swollen. He had cried his heart out in the shower. He was embarrassed for himself, even though it was not his first time crying on this expedition.

He would cry often; whenever he felt sad or whenever he missed everyone back home; whenever he escaped a life and death situation or he came across once in a life time cosmic spectacle; whenever he would realize that he was all alone in this vastness of universe or he would want to have a heartfelt conversation with someone; whenever he thought he might never return home or ever meet anyone ever again. He would cry often.

"Well, it's alright." He cheered himself up and went into the walk-in closet to change.

"It's not an easy feat to stay alive and keep your sanity intact in 30 years of loneliness." He reminded himself. It was difficult for him to believe as well.

It had been more than 10 years since he had lost contact with headquarters. One of the main reasons for delayed transmission had been distance. But distance cannot stop communication at all. This could have been due to many reasons such as some change in electromagnetic field on the track or even worse, due to destruction of Head Quarters.
