Chapter 37

Jerry and Malcolm were sitting in a stolen car parked in a dark alley. Jerry was sitting in the driving seat while Malcolm in the passenger seat. It was 11 O'clock already and Harry had not returned yet. They were dressed in all black. Malcolm was holding the box that they stole from their first robbery. The box was attached to a laptop and Malcolm was operating it.

The box they stole that day was highly classified state-of-the-art jamming device that Military and National Security Agencies used to raid the terrorists, spies, anti-nationalists, and high profile wanted criminals. This device was called "AnthonyMx05". It was named after the scientist, who invented and designed it.

The woman who had custody of this device was either a spy or terrorist herself or a traitor who stole it to sell for monetary gains. This device had the ability to jam the satellite as well radio and other telecommunication signals within the radius of 100 meters. With this device they not only could disable the security system of the houses but also the CCTV camera's installed within range.

Malcolm was an engineering college dropout. It took him a day or two to figure out how to use this device and last few robberies had enabled him to operate it like a professional.

"It is all set. We just need to wait for Harry." Malcolm was thrilled.

Jacob J Johnson was a retired army officer. He was brave, strong, dependable, and disciplined. He was sleeping in his bedroom. It was his routine to go to bed at 10 pm. He had set the alarm to 11:50 pm and planned to get up a little early, freshen up and watch the New Year's celebrations with Emma. They had also set the wake-up timer on television for 11:58 pm.

Elizabeth was in the kitchen. Normally, she went to bed with Jacob but that day she was baking cookies for Emma. Jacob was a light sleeper, so she was trying to be as inaudible as she could. She sat in the chair; she was really tired.

Emma was sleeping in her room. She was deep asleep, partially due to her fever and partially due to medication.

Harry got off the taxi and walked briskly in the streets of Oklahoma. He got off two three streets prior to the designated spot just to avoid suspicion. It was extremely cold. He was wearing a black hooded long coat and carried three smuggled Russian brand pistols with silencers in his pockets.

Harry was extremely thrilled. Today, he was going to rob the house of the most powerful man in the whole country, Mathew, the president of United States. They travelled in the cargo trains from one state to another like gypsies and reached Oklahoma. Parents of the president lived there. Harry decided to finish the year with the biggest robbery of their life; biggest not by returns but by risk. He was feeling alive after a long time. He felt like he was born to do this robbery.

Harry saw a car parked from some distance. He came closer and knocked the side mirror. The door opened and he quickly went in.

"Hey! How is it going?" He asked as he entered.

"Everything is in place. We are ready." Malcolm said.

Harry looked at his wristwatch. It was 39 past 11. He wanted to finish the job by midnight.

"Okay. Then, Let's go." He said and the car slowly moved.

Jerry parked the car at the corner of the alley. Malcolm pressed a few buttons on his keyboards. With a beep, a red light started blinking on the box. The red light turned green and the center of top of the box opened and a small dish came out. Malcolm typed on keyboard again. The light turned blue and the dish started rotating.

"It's working." Malcolm said. His voice was a little shaky. His heart was pounding.

"Good." Harry commended. He looked thrilled.

Malcolm handed the box to Harry. He placed the box beside him and got off the car. Jerry and Malcolm followed. They put on their masks and briskly moved towards their target.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Marlo Sheen was sitting in a private room in a high-end club near Times square. Sound of loud music playing could be heard in the room. Marlo was wearing a very flashy coat and tight silver pants. He looked like an 80s Rockstar; only he was fatter. His manager Ralph sat across him. The room was filled with the smell of smoke and wine. Two beautiful girls were sitting on both sides of Sheen.

Sheen was a heavy drinker, and this was proving to be a negative trait for him. He was extremely nervous about his new year's live performance in front of large crowd., actually whole world. He had never performed in front of such a large crowd. He was trying to get a little drunk to get rid of this nervousness, but the alcohol was proving to be useless.

"This is not working." He looked at his manager.

"What do you want me to do? Should I go in your place?" Manager seemed frank with him.

"You are the manager. You figure it out." Sheen screamed.

"Okay. Okay. I did not want to do this, but you leave me no choice." Ralph exhaled and put out a cigarette from his pocket and gave it to him.

"What's this?" He looked at Ralph suspiciously.

"Gimme some too." One of the girls said seductively.

"Why not honey." Ralph took one more out and gave it to her. His eyes were full of lust. He planned on playing with them later. He completely forgot that Sheen was there.

"What is this?" Sheen screamed.

"Why are you screaming? You will give me a heart attack someday?" Ralph was startled.

This is medicine for people who have symptoms like yours." He lied through his teeth.

Sheen put the cigarette in his lips and the other girl ignited it.

Sheen smoked a long relaxing puff.

"Turn it on. Lemme remember the lyrics." He said to a girl.

Sheen spanked her as she stood up to turn the music on. She turned around and looked at him seductively. She seemed a little drunk.

She turned the stereo on.

"Hey listen! You there?" The room echoed with loud music. Sheen started singing along.

You lonely? In Despair?

Break the chains that bind

Rules? Leave 'em behind

To thyself make a vow

Don't wait up, Life is now.

Laaaaaaaaa-if is now…

Life is now.
