Beginning after the end

"Very few people are aware of it…" Vikram nonchalantly carried on "…So, in case one or both of us fail; that's no brainer. Right?"

"If none of us fail then…" Vikram's heart raced with anticipation "…The one whose name is called first…" Vikram tried to create suspense; Vikrant was listening to him intently "…stays and the one who is called later goes."

Vikrant did not respond; he was just thinking about it.

"Hm. Hm…" Vikram hit him lightly with his elbow to grab his attention "…what do you think?"

"Not a bad idea…" Vikrant smiled "…really."

"Right?" He was excited "So it's a done deal?"

"Done." Vikrant decided to flow with him.

They shook hands to seal their deal.

For rest of the waiting time, they minded their own business and prayed for their name to be called later.

After half hour or so, speakers in the hall woke up.
